Why MindView

Most therapy in White Plains has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in White Plains deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in White Plains, in short

MindView Therapy works with White Plains adults 18 and older by secure video throughout New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We do not have a White Plains office and we are accepting new clients.

White Plains has plenty of therapists on paper and very few with openings that take insurance. We work with adults across central Westchester by video, confirm your benefits before you book, and build care around a working calendar rather than a lunch hour you do not have.

A market with therapists and no appointments

White Plains is the Westchester county seat and a regional employment center, so the directory listings look healthy. The lived experience is different: a lot of the practices here are private-pay, out-of-network, or full.

That combination produces a specific frustration. You have good insurance. You still cannot use it. You end up either paying several hundred dollars a session out of pocket or postponing indefinitely.

We are in-network with the major commercial carriers in New York, we verify your particular plan before you commit, and because we work by video our availability is not capped by the number of rooms in a suite on Mamaroneck Avenue.

Who we work with, and where they are

Adults 18 and older across the city, from Downtown and the transit-center corridor to Battle Hill, Fisher Hill, Gedney, Highlands, North Broadway, Prospect Park, Soundview and North White Plains.

The same coverage extends without any change to the towns that ring the city: Harrison, Scarsdale, Greenburgh and North Castle. Statewide licensure means the municipal boundary is irrelevant to whether we can see you.

The presentations that dominate here

Work-driven anxiety and performance pressure are the signature of this market. White Plains is full of law, finance, healthcare and corporate roles where the standard is high and the failure tolerance is low. What that produces is not usually panic attacks. It is chronic vigilance, poor sleep, and an inability to stop working even when nothing needs doing.

Perfectionism runs alongside it, and it is often the reason someone waited three years to make this call.

Depression is common and frequently under-recognized in high-functioning adults, because output stays intact while everything else quietly drains.

Couples work is the fourth, driven largely by two-career households with opposite schedules.

We also treat trauma, OCD, grief, anger, and life transitions.

The four stages of care

Therapy here has a defined shape.

One: intake. What brought you in, relevant history, what you want changed, and a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. Two: history session. History, health, relationships, stressors. Any question can be declined. Three: treatment plan, written collaboratively in your own language, with one personal goal you set. Then: weekly sessions, plus a monthly review using standardized measures.

That monthly review is the part most practices do not do. Your therapist puts the trend in front of you. If the numbers are not moving, the plan is the thing that changes, not your effort level.

Most work is CBT: structured, present-focused, skills-based. Where another approach is the better fit, your therapist will say so.

Does video hold up clinically?

For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. We keep that claim narrow on purpose.

Video also solves something specific for this population: the appointment stops competing with the commute. That alone is often what turns a good intention into a course of treatment someone finishes.

If your needs exceed what weekly outpatient care can do, we will tell you and help you find the right level rather than keeping the slot filled.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. The first meeting

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. The wider picture

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Building the plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

White Plains questions

Is there a White Plains office?

No. MindView does not have an office in White Plains. Every White Plains client is seen by secure video. Our nearest physical office is in Jamaica, Queens, about 25 miles south, which is not a practical weekly trip for most people here.

Which insurance do you accept?

For New York telehealth we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. Your benefits are verified before your first session, so you know the cost in advance.

Can I do a session from my office?

Many clients do, from a private room or a booked conference room, and some do it from a parked car between meetings. What the platform needs is a stable connection and a door. Your therapist will work with whatever is realistic for you.

I want help with work stress specifically. Is that a real reason to come in?

Yes. Work-driven anxiety, performance pressure and burnout are among the most common presentations we see in this market. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to justify starting.

Performance and pressure

Do you see couples?

Yes. Couples sessions run by video with both partners present, and partners can join from two different locations if that is what the week allows, as long as both are physically in New York State.

Are evening appointments possible?

Availability varies by clinician and changes week to week, so we will tell you what is genuinely open rather than promising a slot on a webpage. Removing the commute does widen the range of times that work.

How quickly can I be seen?

We are taking new clients and respond within one business day. Online booking takes about 30 seconds.

What does a session cost?

With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance rather than the full fee, and any unmet deductible applies first. We verify your benefits and tell you the figure before your first session.
