Why MindView
Most therapy in White Plains has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take UnitedHealthcare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

UnitedHealthcare in White Plains, in short
MindView Therapy is in network with UnitedHealthcare and sees White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Westchester is one of only fourteen New York counties where UnitedHealthcare sells an individual marketplace plan as well as employer coverage, so a card here may have come from a job or from something you bought yourself. Those two routes price very differently, and we check which one you hold before anything is booked.
Most New York counties give you one way into a UnitedHealthcare card. Westchester gives you two. As of 1 August 2026, 581 Westchester residents held a UnitedHealthcare plan bought through the state marketplace, 29 of them on a non-standard design and 552 on a standard one, alongside everyone in the county covered through an employer. The distinction is not academic. A marketplace plan carries a deductible that resets in January, and an employer plan carries whatever the employer chose.
Two ways a UnitedHealthcare card reaches White Plains
Across most of New York, a UnitedHealthcare card only ever means one thing: coverage through an employer. Westchester is different. It is one of only fourteen New York counties where UnitedHealthcare also sells an individual plan directly on the state marketplace, so a card here can point to either route.
We are in network with UnitedHealthcare and see White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State, regardless of which door your coverage came through. What actually changes between the two is the cost arithmetic, and that is what we check before quoting anything.
Both routes carry the same UnitedHealthcare name and the same general network structure, which is part of why the two doors are easy to conflate. Nothing on the front of the card makes the distinction obvious. It shows up only in the plan details, which is exactly why we ask rather than assume based on the logo alone.
What 581 marketplace members in Westchester does and does not tell you
As of August 1, 2026, 581 Westchester County residents held a UnitedHealthcare plan bought on the state marketplace, 29 on a non-standard design and 552 on a standard one. That is a small number relative to the county’s overall population, and it sits alongside a much larger group covered through employers.
That figure tells us the marketplace route into UnitedHealthcare genuinely exists here, at real if modest scale. It does not tell us which specific White Plains readers hold a marketplace plan versus an employer one, and it should not be read as a claim about how common either route is for any individual. That is exactly why we ask rather than assume.
The marketplace figure also only counts one issuer among several selling qualified health plans in the county. UnitedHealthcare’s 581 enrollees sit inside a larger pool of Westchester residents who bought coverage on the marketplace from a range of insurers, and the 581 figure describes UnitedHealthcare’s specific slice of that pool rather than marketplace shopping generally.
That figure also says nothing about how many of those 581 people are actively using behavioral health benefits, or how that compares to the much larger group covered through employers. A small issuer-level enrollment number is not evidence that the marketplace route is unusual or discouraged here. It simply describes one slice of a much larger, mostly employer-covered population.
The employer plan: whatever your employer designed
If your UnitedHealthcare coverage came through a job, your employer’s benefits team chose the specific plan design behind your card: whether you have a copay, a deductible followed by coinsurance, or some combination. That design does not change on any set schedule the way a marketplace plan’s deductible does, and it varies from one employer to the next.
If you have already met a deductible through other medical costs earlier in your employer’s plan year, coinsurance alone typically applies from that point forward, without an additional deductible layered on top. We confirm where you stand as part of the benefits check, so a session booked mid-year reflects your actual position.
There is also no way to tell from the card alone whether your specific employer’s plan is written and regulated in New York or self-funded, since both look identical from a member’s side. That distinction affects whether the state’s copay parity rule applies to you, and we check it directly rather than assuming either way.
We verify your specific employer plan directly, rather than assuming a design that might be accurate for a different White Plains employer but wrong for yours.
Most employer plans of this kind let you self-refer directly to an in-network behavioral health provider, without a primary care referral first. A minority of designs add that step, and we confirm which kind applies to you at the same time we check your cost sharing.
The marketplace plan: the January reset
If your UnitedHealthcare coverage came from the state marketplace, your deductible resets every January 1 regardless of when you last used the plan. A course of therapy that begins in October may run into a deductible already partly satisfied by other medical costs earlier in the year. The same course beginning in February starts against a deductible that just reset to zero.
That timing difference is the single most useful thing to understand about a marketplace plan, and it is a genuinely different cost story than an employer plan carries.
Your metal tier matters too. A higher tier generally means a higher monthly premium in exchange for lower cost sharing when you actually use care, and a lower tier trades the reverse. Neither is inherently better; it depends on how much care a person expects to need in a given year. What matters for booking is knowing which tier you selected, since that decision sets your deductible and coinsurance figures.
This tier trade only applies to the marketplace route, not the employer route. An employer-covered member does not choose a metal tier at all; the employer’s benefits team made that decision on behalf of the whole workforce. Knowing which route you are on is therefore the first thing that determines which cost factors even apply to you.
Optum, and why a second name appears on your therapy benefit
The behavioral health side of a UnitedHealthcare card is administered through Optum, which is why your therapy benefit specifically can come back under that name even though your medical card reads UnitedHealthcare. It is the same membership described two different ways depending on which part of your coverage you are looking at.
We verify your coverage under whichever name is printed where, so you never have to sort out the naming yourself before booking.
This is the same pattern that shows up on Optum-labeled cards generally, since Optum is the network administering behavioral benefits across a large share of UnitedHealthcare’s book of business, not just in Westchester. It is worth knowing simply so the second name does not read as a red flag when it appears.
Who books with a UnitedHealthcare card
Adults 18 and older across White Plains reach UnitedHealthcare through an employer plan or, in this county specifically, through a plan bought directly on the state marketplace. People come in for anxiety, depression, burnout, the adjustments that come with life transitions, and everyday stress management, along with general therapy for anyone whose reason does not fit neatly into one category.
Buying an individual UnitedHealthcare plan on the marketplace instead of getting one through a job, the route 581 Westchester County residents took this year, often means something changed recently: getting laid off, leaving a career that was not working before lining up the next one, or the exhaustion of stitching together freelance income month to month. A first intake with someone in that position tends to spend real time on the change itself, and a clinician sets up a weekly session around whatever schedule the transition currently allows, even when the job change itself was never the reason they called.
581 marketplace enrollees says the individual route exists here at real scale, not that any one of them is mid-transition, and buying your own plan is not itself a reason to start therapy.
MindView has no office in White Plains, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the White Plains location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
You do not need a diagnosis to book, whichever route brought you your coverage. A rough sense that something has gotten harder to carry, at work or otherwise, is reasonable enough to start with.
What we check before you are scheduled
Have your UnitedHealthcare card ready. Booking is online and takes about 30 seconds. We verify whether your plan is employer coverage or an individual marketplace plan, confirm where you stand on any deductible, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled, so nothing about your bill is a surprise afterward.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time that fits your schedule, held entirely by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York.
What UnitedHealthcare covers here
- •UnitedHealthcare sells employer group coverage statewide, and Westchester is also one of only 14 New York counties where it sells an individual marketplace plan.
- •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance or remaining deductible rather than the full session fee. You are never billed the difference.
- •The behavioral health side of a UnitedHealthcare card runs through Optum, which is why a second name can appear on your therapy benefit specifically.
- •Cost sharing on an employer plan is set by the employer, so no universal figure exists. A marketplace plan's deductible resets every January 1.
- •On New York regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary care copay, with the caveat that self-funded employer coverage can sit outside that rule.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

UnitedHealthcare questions
I bought my UnitedHealthcare plan on the state marketplace. Are you still in network?
Yes. We are in network with UnitedHealthcare regardless of which route your coverage came through. What changes is the cost arithmetic. A marketplace plan's deductible resets every January 1, so the same plan can cost differently in February than in October, which we check as part of your benefits verification.
My card says UnitedHealthcare but the therapy benefit says Optum. Which is it?
Both, and it is not an error. The behavioral health side of a UnitedHealthcare card runs through Optum, which is why a second name shows up specifically on your therapy benefit while your medical card reads UnitedHealthcare. Same membership, same coverage, and we verify under whichever name applies.
Why can you not just tell me my copay?
Because an employer plan's cost sharing was set by the employer, and a marketplace plan's depends on your tier and how much of the deductible you have used this year. A copay is a flat amount, a deductible is what you pay before the plan shares costs, and coinsurance is a percentage owed after that. We check your specific plan and give you the actual number.
Does New York law cap my therapy copay?
On New York regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary care copay. That cap applies cleanly to a marketplace plan. It does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or self-funds, so we confirm which kind of plan you hold before relying on the cap.
Is there a MindView office in White Plains?
No. Every White Plains session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, from anywhere in the state. MindView's offices exist as offices, never as a place a client is seen in person, and none of them is in White Plains.
