Why MindView
Most therapy in White Plains has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in White Plains, in short
MindView Therapy is in network with Medicare and sees White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health, and telehealth for mental health is a permanent benefit with your home a permitted place to be seen. What you owe depends on whether you hold Original Medicare, a supplement, or a Medicare Advantage plan. We do not assume network status on an Advantage plan; we check which card you carry first.
Westchester County had 195,727 Medicare beneficiaries in 2025, and 120,553 of them, just under 62 percent, were in Original Medicare rather than an Advantage plan. That is worth knowing because the two run on completely different arithmetic. Original Medicare has one deductible and a fixed coinsurance share. An Advantage plan replaces that with its own copay structure and its own network, which is why the first thing anyone should do is look at the card.
Original Medicare is the majority card in Westchester
Westchester County had 195,727 Medicare beneficiaries in 2025, and 120,553 of them, just under 62 percent, were enrolled in Original Medicare rather than a Medicare Advantage plan. That split matters because the two run on entirely different arithmetic, and the majority route here is the older, simpler one.
We are in network with Medicare and see White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. For most Westchester beneficiaries, that means the Part B deductible and coinsurance structure is what actually applies, rather than an Advantage plan’s own copay design.
Original Medicare’s arithmetic does not change from one beneficiary to the next the way an Advantage plan’s copay might. It is one federal deductible, followed by one coinsurance percentage, regardless of which county you live in or which clinician you see. That consistency is part of why we walk through the Part B structure first, before turning to the more variable Advantage picture.
What Part B actually asks you to pay in 2026
Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health care, including therapy sessions. In 2026 the annual Part B deductible is $283. Once that deductible is met for the year, Medicare pays 80 percent of the allowed amount for a covered service, and you owe the remaining 20 percent as coinsurance.
The standard monthly Part B premium in 2026 is $202.90, which most beneficiaries pay regardless of how often they use services, separate from the per-visit deductible and coinsurance. These figures apply to the federal Part B benefit and are not specific to Westchester County.
The $283 deductible is an annual figure, not a per-visit one. Once you have paid that amount toward covered Part B services in a calendar year, from any provider, the 80/20 split applies to every covered visit for the rest of the year. A person who has already used other Part B services earlier in the year may walk into a first therapy session with the deductible already satisfied.
A supplement changes the twenty percent
A Medigap supplement plan is coverage purchased alongside Original Medicare specifically to cover some or all of that 20 percent coinsurance, so a beneficiary with a supplement may owe little or nothing per visit once the Part B deductible is satisfied. Not everyone on Original Medicare carries a supplement, and which one you hold, if any, changes what you actually owe.
We ask whether you carry a supplement as part of the benefits check, because it is the single factor most likely to change your out-of-pocket cost beyond the base Part B structure.
Supplements themselves come in several standardized designs, lettered rather than named by insurer, and each one covers a different share of Medicare’s cost sharing. Two beneficiaries can both say they have a supplement and mean genuinely different levels of coverage. We ask which letter plan you carry rather than treating the word “supplement” as a single, uniform answer.
A supplement only affects Original Medicare’s cost sharing. It has nothing to do with a Medicare Advantage plan, since Advantage replaces Original Medicare entirely rather than adding coverage alongside it. Someone cannot combine a Medigap supplement with an Advantage plan, which is one reason we ask which of the two you actually hold before discussing a supplement at all.
Medicare Advantage: we verify rather than assume
A Medicare Advantage plan replaces Original Medicare’s deductible-and-coinsurance arithmetic with the plan’s own copay structure and its own network of providers. Advantage plans vary significantly from one to the next in what they charge and which providers they include.
We do not assume network status for any Medicare Advantage plan. Rather than telling an Advantage member that coverage is automatic, we check the specific plan a person carries and confirm what we find before booking. That check applies the same way to every Advantage plan, regardless of which one is on your card.
The 75,175 Westchester beneficiaries in Advantage and other plans are not a single group with one shared set of terms. Advantage plans are sold by multiple private insurers, each building its own provider network and its own copay structure under federal rules that set a floor rather than a fixed design. That variation is exactly why a Medicare Advantage card cannot be treated the same way a Part B card can, and why we verify rather than generalize.
Under 65 and on Medicare
Medicare is not only a program for people over 65. In Westchester County, 13,170 of the 195,727 total beneficiaries in 2025 qualified through disability rather than age. The Part B rules for outpatient mental health coverage apply the same way to a beneficiary who qualified through disability as to one who qualified by turning 65.
That figure describes how people in the county came to be on Medicare. It is not a statement about the nature or severity of anyone’s circumstances, and we are not going to characterize it as one. It also does not tell us anything about which of those 13,170 people are already familiar with therapy or new to it, and we do not assume either.
The benefits check we run works the same way regardless of how someone qualified for Medicare. We ask whether coverage is Original Medicare, a supplement, or an Advantage plan, and confirm the cost sharing that applies. Age or disability status does not change that process or the questions we need answered.
Telehealth is permanent, and your home counts
Telehealth coverage for mental health services is a permanent part of Medicare, not a temporary accommodation subject to expiration. There is no geographic originating-site restriction for mental health telehealth, meaning your home is a permitted place to have the session regardless of where in New York State you live.
That permanence is worth stating plainly, because some Medicare telehealth flexibilities introduced in recent years genuinely were temporary. Mental health telehealth is not one of them.
This applies the same way regardless of whether you hold Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. The permanent telehealth rule for mental health services is a federal Medicare policy, not something an individual Advantage plan can opt out of. What an Advantage plan can still vary is its own network and cost sharing for that visit, which is exactly why we check the specific plan separately from confirming the telehealth benefit itself.
Booking with a Medicare card
Adults across White Plains reach us through Original Medicare, a Medigap supplement, or a Medicare Advantage plan, for depression, grief, anxiety, the adjustments that come with life transitions, and the emotional weight that can accompany chronic pain or illness. General therapy covers anyone whose reason does not fit neatly into one category.
Reaching Medicare age in Westchester often arrives bundled with its own list: a spouse’s cardiology follow-up claiming a Wednesday morning, a driver’s license renewal that suddenly asks about vision, a social circle that gets smaller every few years as friends move near their kids or stop being able to make the trip. That is the ordinary weight of aging in this county, and it is exactly what shows up in a first intake with a Medicare-age client here.
Being 65 or older in Westchester does not by itself mean any of that is true for a given reader, and turning 65 is not itself a reason to start therapy.
MindView has no office in White Plains, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the White Plains location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
You do not need a referral to book. Outpatient mental health care under Medicare, whether Original Medicare or an Advantage plan, is generally accessible without a primary care physician’s referral, though we confirm any plan-specific steps as part of the benefits check.
Have your Medicare card ready, along with any supplement or Advantage card you carry. Booking is online and takes about 30 seconds. We verify your specific coverage and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled, so the number is settled before your first appointment rather than found out afterward on a statement.

- •Telehealth for mental health is a permanent Medicare benefit, with no geographic restriction on where you live, and your home is a permitted place to be seen.

How to book with Medicare
- 1
Have your Medicare card ready, along with any supplement or Advantage plan card you carry.
- 2
Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.
- 3
We verify your specific coverage, Original Medicare, a supplement, or Advantage, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
- 4
Your first session is an intake, held online by secure video from anywhere in New York State.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
Does Medicare pay for therapy by video?
Yes. Telehealth for mental health is a permanent Medicare benefit, not a temporary accommodation, and your home is a permitted place to have the session. There is no geographic restriction based on where you live in New York State.
I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Are you in network?
We do not assume network status for any Advantage plan in advance. Advantage plans each build their own network, so we check which specific plan you carry before booking and tell you exactly what we find, rather than promising coverage that may not apply to your card.
What does a session cost on Original Medicare in 2026?
The Part B annual deductible is $283. After that is met, Medicare pays 80 percent of the allowed amount and you owe 20 percent coinsurance. A Medigap supplement can cover that remaining share, depending on which supplement you hold. We confirm the exact number for your situation before booking.
Most people I know in Westchester have a Medicare Advantage plan. Is that right?
Not quite. In 2025, 120,553 of the county's 195,727 beneficiaries were in Original Medicare, just under 62 percent, with the remainder in Advantage or other plans. That is one reason we ask which kind you carry rather than assuming either way.
I am on Medicare because of a disability, not age. Does anything change?
No. The Part B rules for outpatient mental health coverage are the same regardless of how you qualified. In Westchester County, 13,170 beneficiaries qualify through disability rather than age, so a Medicare page here is not only a page for people over 65.
