Why MindView

Most therapy in White Plains has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take MagnaCare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

MagnaCare in White Plains, in short

MindView Therapy is in network for MagnaCare and sees White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. MagnaCare is not sold to individuals. It reaches members through union and Taft-Hartley benefit funds and through employers that fund their own plans, so the card usually carries the fund's or employer's name with a MagnaCare logo on it. Your fund set the cost sharing, not an insurer, and we look up your number before you book.

Construction is a large part of how Westchester County works: 27,907 private construction jobs across 3,849 establishments in 2024, at an average of $89,949 a year. It is also the working life where coverage most often arrives through a negotiated benefit fund. That matters here for a specific reason. A great deal of published advice tells New Yorkers their therapy copay is capped by law, and on a fund plan that promise can quietly fail to apply.

The copay rule everyone quotes, and the plans it misses

New York State caps a therapy copay at whatever a plan charges for a primary care visit, and it is a genuinely useful piece of advice that gets repeated often. What almost never gets said alongside it is that the cap only reaches New York regulated plans, and a meaningful share of union and Taft-Hartley benefit funds are self-funded, which places them outside that state rule.

We are in network for MagnaCare and see White Plains adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Rather than repeat the copay promise and hope it applies to you, we check whether your specific fund is regulated or self-funded, and tell you what actually governs your cost sharing before you book.

Bargained coverage and Westchester construction

Westchester County’s private construction sector carried 27,907 jobs across 3,849 establishments in 2024, at an average annual pay of $89,949. That is a large working population in an industry where health coverage commonly arrives through a union or Taft-Hartley benefit fund rather than a plan an individual shopped for.

MagnaCare is a network that a meaningful share of those funds contract with. That is the honest reason a MagnaCare page belongs to this county: a sizable trade workforce whose coverage tends to arrive bundled with the job through a negotiated fund, not purchased separately on a marketplace.

A well paid trade job and a bargained benefit are not opposites. The $89,949 average pay figure exists alongside a benefit structure that was negotiated rather than shopped for, and neither one says anything about the other. A negotiated benefit can be generous, thin, or somewhere in between, exactly like a purchased one can, which is why the fund’s specific terms matter more than the fact that it was bargained at all.

None of this is a claim about how many Westchester construction workers specifically carry a MagnaCare card, which is not a figure we can verify and will not guess at. The employment and pay figures describe jobs located in the county. They say nothing about which fund, which local, or which employer plan any individual worker is enrolled in.

Construction is also not the only kind of work where a fund benefit shows up. Other trades and service jobs across Westchester run on the same negotiated-benefit structure, even where the specific numbers are not published the way construction payroll is. The mechanism is the same regardless of the trade: a fund negotiates terms once, and those terms apply to everyone the fund covers rather than to each member individually.

What a fund plan is, in one paragraph

Nobody enrolls in MagnaCare the way they enroll in a marketplace plan. It reaches people through a union or Taft-Hartley fund, or through an employer that funds its own coverage and contracts with MagnaCare’s network to administer it. A group of trustees, or an employer’s benefits team, decided once what a therapy visit costs under your specific plan, and that decision does not get revisited the way a marketplace plan’s pricing does each year.

That single decision usually stays in place for years at a time, renegotiated on the fund’s own schedule rather than annually. A member who has held the same card for a decade may never have seen the terms change, which is different from a marketplace member who chooses a new tier every open enrollment.

Copay, coinsurance, deductible, and who chose them

A copay is a flat dollar amount you pay per visit, set once by your fund. A deductible is a running total you pay out of pocket before your plan starts sharing the cost at all. Coinsurance is a percentage of the visit’s cost you continue to owe after a deductible is met.

Some fund plans use only a copay. Others run a deductible first, then shift to coinsurance. A smaller number combine both. None of these designs is inherently more generous than another, and which one your fund chose is not printed anywhere on the card. It lives in the plan document your fund holds, and we obtain the specifics through a direct benefits check.

Not knowing which shape applies is where a first bill tends to catch people off guard. Someone expecting a flat copay because a coworker described their own fund’s plan that way can be routed into a deductible-and-coinsurance design instead, simply because their fund wrote a different plan document. We confirm the actual structure before your first session so the number you hear ahead of time is the number that shows up afterward.

Why we verify instead of reassure

The reason we do not lead with the New York copay cap as a promise is straightforward: it would be wrong for a real share of the fund plans that carry a MagnaCare card in this county. Framing that gap as a warning would make fund members sound unprotected, which is not the point. The point is that a benefits check exists precisely to answer the question a general statement cannot.

We ask which fund or employer plan you carry as part of booking, confirm whether it is a regulated New York plan or a self-funded one, and tell you the actual cost-sharing structure that applies, deductible included, before your first session is scheduled.

If you have already met a deductible through other medical costs earlier in the year, coinsurance alone may apply from that point forward on plans that use that structure, without an additional deductible cost stacked on top. We confirm where you stand as part of the same check, so a session booked mid-year reflects your actual position rather than a fresh assumption.

Who books on a fund card

Adults 18 and older across White Plains reach MagnaCare through a union fund, a Taft-Hartley plan, or an employer that self-funds coverage and contracts with the network. People come in for anxiety, depression, everyday stress management, the emotional weight that can come with chronic pain or illness, and difficulty managing anger, along with general therapy for anyone whose reason does not fit neatly into one category.

Two decades of framing, pouring concrete, or working another trade in Westchester’s construction sector tends to leave a body carrying strain in specific, familiar places: a knee that clicks going up stairs, a lower back that needs ten minutes to loosen before a shift starts, hands that go numb by the second half of the day. None of that shows up on an intake form as a mental health complaint, but a clinician hearing about a week built around managing pain before anyone names it that way is common enough that we ask about it directly.

27,907 construction jobs paying an average of $89,949 a year describes Westchester’s labor market, not any one worker’s health, and having a physical job is not itself a reason to start therapy.

MindView has no office in White Plains, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the White Plains location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.

Spouses and adult dependents covered by the same fund are welcome too. If your fund extends benefits to family members, we verify their specific coverage the same way we verify yours, individually rather than assumed from a shared plan number.

What we ask your fund before you are scheduled

Before you book, look at your card for two things: the fund or employer name printed across the front, and a MagnaCare logo somewhere on it, often smaller and in a corner. Both matter. The fund name tells us which plan design applies, and the logo confirms the network.

Booking is online and takes about 30 seconds. From there we verify your fund’s benefit directly, including whether the New York copay cap reaches your specific plan, and give you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there, you set a recurring weekly time that fits your schedule, held entirely by secure video, with the cost already known before you start.

What MagnaCare covers here

  • •MagnaCare is not sold retail. It reaches members through union and Taft-Hartley benefit funds and through employers that fund their own plans, so the front of the card usually carries the fund's own name.
  • •The fund or employer sets your cost sharing, not an insurer. Some funds use a flat copay, some use a deductible and then coinsurance, and some use both together.
  • •New York regulated plans cap a therapy copay at the primary care copay, but many fund plans are self-funded and fall outside that state rule. We check which applies to your specific fund.
  • •Staying with an in network provider keeps your cost sharing at the lowest tier your fund defined. We are in network for MagnaCare.
  • •We see adults 18 and older. If your fund covers a spouse or dependent, the same coverage check applies to them.

How to book with MagnaCare

  1. 1

Have your fund's card ready and look for a MagnaCare logo, often small, somewhere on the front or back.

  2. 2

Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Your first session is an intake, held online by secure video from anywhere in New York State.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Use your MagnaCare benefits and get started.

MagnaCare questions

I read that New York caps therapy copays. Does that apply to me?

Sometimes. On a New York regulated plan, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary care copay. A self-funded fund plan, which many union and Taft-Hartley funds are, can sit entirely outside that rule. We check which one applies to your specific fund rather than promising the cap covers you.

My card says my fund's name, not MagnaCare. Am I in the right place?

Almost certainly yes. A fund card is printed with the fund's own name across the front, and the MagnaCare logo sits somewhere smaller, often a corner or the back. Bring the card exactly as printed and we check the network it runs on rather than asking you to interpret it yourself.

I work in the trades around White Plains. Why can nobody quote me a copay?

Because a fund's trustees wrote that number, not an insurer. Two Westchester members working the same trade can carry different fund cards with different copay, coinsurance or deductible designs, so a single published figure would be wrong for someone. We look up your specific fund and give you the number before you book.

Can my spouse or my adult child book too?

If your fund extends coverage to a spouse or dependent, the same MagnaCare network usually applies to them too. We see adults 18 and older only. We verify the dependent's specific benefit the same way we verify yours, before any session is scheduled.

Is there a MindView office in White Plains?

No. Every White Plains session is held by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, from anywhere in the state. MindView's offices exist as offices, never as a place a client is seen in person, and none of them is in White Plains.
