Why MindView
Most therapy in Batavia has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Batavia deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Batavia, in short
MindView Therapy works with Batavia adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Optum, Medicare, Highmark BCBS WNY, and Univera Healthcare. There is no Batavia office and we are accepting new clients.
Batavia sits almost exactly halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, which sounds convenient and mostly is not. It means the specialist you need is usually thirty-five miles away in one direction or the other. We see adults across Genesee County by secure video and take the Western New York plans that sell here.
Exactly between two cities, which is its own problem
Batavia is the seat of Genesee County, a city of about 15,600 sitting near the midpoint of the corridor between Buffalo and Rochester. The Thruway runs just north of it.
Being halfway between two metros reads like an advantage. In practice it produces a specific and frustrating pattern: whatever you need that Batavia does not have is thirty-five miles away, and which direction you drive depends on which practice called you back. People here are used to making that calculation for medical care, and mental health care is one more instance of it.
Our answer is to remove the calculation. Neither direction, no drive.
Genesee County is Western New York
Highmark BCBS WNY and Univera Healthcare serve eight Western New York counties, and Genesee is one of them. Both are in-network here alongside UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
Where our clients are
Adults 18 and older in Downtown Batavia, the Southside and the Ellicott Station area, plus the surrounding towns: Le Roy, Oakfield, Alexander, Corfu, Stafford and Pavilion, along with the Town of Batavia that surrounds the city.
The city is a separate municipality from the Town of Batavia that wraps around it. As with every market we serve, that boundary makes no difference to us, because our license is statewide rather than municipal.
An agricultural county, and what that does to a calendar
Genesee County is farm country, and that shapes what people bring in and when.
Agricultural work does not produce an even year. It produces a compressed season of very long days followed by a slower stretch, and income that depends on weather and commodity prices rather than a salary. Anxiety in this county frequently attaches to that unpredictability rather than to anything a person can address by working harder.
It also affects scheduling in a way that matters clinically. A weekly appointment at 2pm is unworkable during planting or harvest. Video sessions early in the morning or late in the evening are considerably easier to protect, and protecting the appointment is most of what makes a course of therapy work.
What people come in for here
Anxiety is the most common, in the form described above and in the ordinary version everyone recognizes: poor sleep, irritability, a mind that will not settle.
Depression is second, and in a small city that has watched manufacturing and retail contract it is often long-standing and normalized before anyone names it.
Grief is a steady presentation, frequently connected to aging parents in a county where many adults live near the family they grew up with and end up carrying that care.
Couples work is common, particularly in households built around irregular or seasonal income, which puts a specific kind of strain on a marriage.
We also treat trauma, OCD, anger, burnout and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.
How care is structured
Four stages, in order, and the schedule flexes around a season that does not.
Intake is first, ending with a 0 to 10 rating of how intense things are right now. That number becomes the reference point for everything after it.
Your history is second, spanning history, health, relationships and stressors, with any question declinable.
Treatment plan is third, written jointly in your own words and containing a goal you choose. In a county where the year is not evenly distributed, this is the stage where a seasonal work pattern should be named, so the plan is built around your actual calendar.
Then weekly sessions, plus a monthly review against standardized measures. Flat trend, changed plan.
CBT is the core method: structured, present-focused, skills-based.
Video, stated carefully
For the outpatient concerns we treat, studies comparing CBT delivered by video with CBT delivered in a room have generally shown comparable outcomes. We state that narrowly because that is how the evidence reads.
Video is not right for every presentation. If what you need is beyond what weekly outpatient sessions can deliver, we will say so and help you find the appropriate level of care rather than keeping the appointment on our books.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Batavia questions
Do you have an office in Batavia?
No. MindView has no Batavia office and we will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so every Batavia client is seen online by secure video. We do not see clients in person at any location.
Are Highmark BCBS WNY and Univera in-network?
Yes. Genesee County is one of the eight Western New York counties both plans serve, so both apply here alongside UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
I live in Le Roy or Oakfield, not Batavia. Does that matter?
Not at all. Our clinicians are licensed across New York State rather than tied to a city, so Le Roy, Oakfield, Alexander, Corfu, Stafford, Pavilion and anywhere else in the state work the same way.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your particular coverage and any secondary plan before you begin.
Do you offer couples counseling?
Yes. Couples work runs by video with both partners on the call, and partners can join from two different locations if the week requires it, as long as both are in New York State.
What happens in the first session?
An intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, gathers relevant history, asks what you want to change, and has you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline.
How soon can I get in?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. Choosing a time online takes about 30 seconds.
What is the cost?
With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance instead of the full fee, and any unmet deductible comes first. We verify benefits and give you the number before you commit.
