Why MindView
Most therapy in Glen Cove has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Glen Cove deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Glen Cove, in short
MindView Therapy works with Glen Cove adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Glen Cove office and we are accepting new clients.
Glen Cove is one of only two cities in Nassau County and sits on the North Shore, about twenty-five miles from our Queens office. Private-pay therapy is easy to find here and in-network therapy is not. We see adults across the North Shore by secure video and verify your plan before you book.
One of two cities on all of Nassau County
Nassau County has three towns and only two cities: Long Beach on the South Shore, and Glen Cove here on the North Shore. Almost everything else in the county is a village or an unincorporated hamlet inside a town.
That is not trivia. It means Glen Cove has its own mayor, its own council and its own municipal identity in a county where most places do not, and residents here tend to think of themselves as being from Glen Cove specifically rather than from Nassau generally.
The city sits on Hempstead Harbor and the Long Island Sound, about twenty-five miles from our Queens office.
The in-network problem on the North Shore
This is the specific reason people in this area call us, and it is worth being direct about.
The North Shore has no shortage of therapists. What it has a shortage of is therapists who take insurance. In an affluent area, a large share of private practices operate on a private-pay or out-of-network basis, where you pay the full fee at the time of service and then chase partial reimbursement from your plan yourself, if your plan offers out-of-network benefits at all.
We are in-network. You pay your copay or coinsurance, any unmet deductible applies first, and we tell you the number before your first session rather than after it. For a lot of households here that is the entire difference between starting therapy and continuing to think about it.
Where our clients are
Adults 18 and older in Downtown Glen Cove, the Landing, Red Spring and Glen Cove Landing, plus the surrounding North Shore communities: Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Locust Valley, Bayville, Oyster Bay and Brookville.
Glen Cove is bordered on three sides by the Town of Oyster Bay and on the fourth by the Long Island Sound.
A genuinely mixed city
Glen Cove is more economically and culturally varied than the Gold Coast reputation of the surrounding area suggests. It was an industrial and commercial center before it was a suburb, and successive waves of immigration built the city that exists now, from Irish, Italian and Eastern European arrivals in the industrial era to substantial Central and South American and Caribbean communities more recently.
The practical consequence for us is that the people who contact us here are not one demographic. Some are looking for an in-network alternative to private-pay therapy. Others are looking for any accessible mental health care at all. Both are served by the same thing: in-network care, a short wait and no commute.
What people come in for here
Anxiety is the most common presentation. In the commuter households here it frequently shows up as sleep that will not come and a mind that starts working through tomorrow around eleven at night.
Depression is second, and often described initially as exhaustion or as having lost interest in things that used to matter.
Couples work is a large share in this market. Long Island Rail Road commuting schedules put a specific strain on a household, and video suits couples work well because partners can join from two locations when one is still at the office.
Grief comes up steadily, frequently around aging parents in a community where a lot of adults are managing that alongside their own work and children.
We also treat trauma, OCD, anger, burnout and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.
The commute is the scheduling constraint
Getting anywhere across the North Shore during rush hour is slow, and a great many people here spend a substantial part of the day getting into Manhattan and back.
The failure mode for in-office therapy in this market is not distance. It is that a 6pm appointment requires leaving work at 4:30, which is not sustainable, so the appointment moves to a time that does not really work and eventually stops happening.
A video session at 7pm from your own house has none of that. In a commuter market that is the practical argument, more than mileage.
How care is structured
Four stages, in a set order, so the process is never a mystery.
The intake is first and closes with a 0 to 10 rating of intensity that becomes your baseline. The history session is second, across history, health, relationships and the pressures on you now, with any question declinable. The treatment plan is third, written jointly, in your own phrasing, including a goal you choose personally.
After that, weekly sessions and a monthly review using standardized measures. Your therapist walks the trend through with you. A flat trend revises the plan rather than the expectations on you.
CBT is the main approach: structured, present-focused and skills-based, which also means the work is measurable rather than open-ended.
Video, stated carefully
The evidence, put carefully: for outpatient concerns of the kind we treat, CBT by video has generally produced outcomes comparable to CBT in person in the studies that have compared them.
That is not a claim that video suits everyone. Where someone needs more than weekly outpatient work can provide, we name that and help them reach the right level of care.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Glen Cove questions
Is there a MindView office in Glen Cove?
No. We have no Glen Cove office and will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so every Glen Cove client is seen online by secure video. We do not see clients in person at any location.
What insurance do you accept?
UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare, for New York telehealth. We verify your specific benefits and tell you your cost before your first session.
Everyone here seems to be private pay. Are you actually in-network?
Yes, and it is the main reason people call us from this area. Being in-network means you pay a copay or coinsurance rather than a full private fee, and we confirm the number with your plan before you commit to anything.
I live in Sea Cliff or Locust Valley, not Glen Cove. Does that matter?
Not at all. Our clinicians are licensed across New York State rather than tied to a city, so Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Locust Valley, Bayville, Oyster Bay, Brookville and anywhere else in the state work the same way.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your particular coverage and any secondary plan before you begin.
Do you offer couples counseling?
Yes. Couples work runs by video with both partners on the call, and partners can join from two different locations if schedules require it, as long as both are in New York State.
How soon can I get in?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. Booking is a matter of picking a time, roughly 30 seconds.
What happens in the first session?
An intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, gathers relevant history, asks what you want to change, and has you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline.
