Every clinician state-licensed

Why MindView

Most therapy in Auburn has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Auburn deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Auburn, in short

MindView Therapy sees Auburn adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We have no Auburn office and we are accepting new clients.

Auburn is the county seat of Cayuga County and the place most of the county comes for services, therapy included. We work with adults here by secure video and there is no drive involved.

One city serving a whole county

Auburn is the largest city in Cayuga County and its county seat, sitting at the north end of Owasco Lake. For most of the county, it is where you go for the hospital, the courthouse, the community college and professional services.

That concentration creates a specific access problem. A relatively small number of local practices are absorbing demand from a county that stretches well past the city in every direction. Someone in Moravia or Cato is looking at a real drive before the appointment even starts, and then finding that the practice is full.

Telehealth answers the geography directly. There is no drive, so where in the county you live stops mattering.

Where clients connect from

Adults 18 and older in Downtown Auburn and throughout Cayuga County, including the surrounding towns of Owasco, Fleming, Aurelius, Sennett and Throop, and the villages of Weedsport, Union Springs, Cato and Moravia.

Because we are licensed statewide and have no office to build a radius around, that list is illustrative rather than a boundary.

Insurance we accept in New York

We are in-network in New York with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.

We check your plan before your first session and tell you what you will pay.

What we treat

Anxiety is the most common presentation, and in this county it tends to be practical rather than abstract: employment, money, distance from family, a winter that runs long.

Depression is second. Isolation is a genuine clinical factor in a spread-out rural county, and depression here often reads as withdrawal that nobody outside the household notices.

Grief is a significant share, and much of it involves the care of aging parents, which a lot of adults in this county are doing alongside full-time work.

Trauma and couples work round out the main list. We also see OCD, anger, chronic stress, burnout and life transitions. Adults 18 and older only.

How treatment is organized

A defined structure you can see in advance.

Intake, which closes with a 0 to 10 rating of intensity that serves as your baseline. Your history, covering history, health, relationships and stressors, and you may decline any question in it. Treatment plan, written with you in your own words, including one goal that is personally yours.

After that, weekly sessions with a monthly review using standardized measures. Your therapist shows you the trend rather than telling you about it. If it is not moving, the plan is what changes.

The primary modality is CBT, which is structured, present-focused and built on skills you keep. Your therapist will say when a different approach fits better.

The practical case for video here

For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is the limited, accurate claim.

In a rural county the biggest gain is consistency. A weekly appointment that requires a twenty-minute drive gets skipped for weather, for a shift change, for a car that someone else needed. Those skipped weeks are what quietly ends a course of therapy. A session that requires no travel is far easier to keep.

If your needs exceed what weekly outpatient sessions can provide, we will tell you and help you find the right level of care.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. The first meeting

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. The wider picture

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Building the plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Auburn questions

Do you have an Auburn office?

No. MindView has no office in Auburn and we will not suggest otherwise. MindView is telehealth only, so every Auburn client is seen online by secure video. We do not see clients in person at any location.

I live out in the county, not in the city. Does that work?

Yes, and it is much of the reason telehealth suits this market. Owasco, Fleming, Aurelius, Sennett, Throop, Weedsport, Union Springs, Cato and Moravia are all fine, as is anywhere else in New York State.

Do you take Medicare?

Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your particular coverage and any secondary plan before you begin.

What if my internet is unreliable?

Worth raising early. Video needs a stable connection more than a fast one, and a phone on cellular data often works when home service will not. If it keeps disrupting sessions, tell your therapist rather than quietly dropping out.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Sessions run on a secure video platform with the same protections a conversation in an office would carry. We do not record sessions.

How soon can I be seen?

We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. You pick a time online in about 30 seconds.

What will I pay?

In-network means a copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, with any unmet deductible applying first. Amounts differ by plan, so we verify benefits and tell you the number in advance.

How do I get started?
