Every clinician state-licensed

Why MindView

Most therapy in Brentwood has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Brentwood deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Brentwood, in short

MindView Therapy provides secure video therapy to Brentwood adults 18 and older anywhere in New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We have no Brentwood office and we are accepting new clients.

Brentwood is the largest hamlet on Long Island outside New York City, and outpatient therapy that takes insurance has never kept pace with that. We see adults across western Suffolk by secure video, verify your plan before you book, and can usually start within days.

The biggest hamlet on Long Island, and not enough care

Brentwood has more than 62,000 residents, making it the most populous census-designated place in Suffolk County and on Long Island outside New York City. It is larger than most incorporated cities in the state.

The outpatient mental health capacity here has never matched that population. What exists tends to be either full, private-pay, or a drive away in another township. For adults working long or irregular hours, a weekly appointment that requires getting on the LIE at 5pm is a commitment that fails in practice regardless of intent.

Because we work by video and are in-network with the major carriers, neither the drive nor the network status is the thing standing between you and a first session.

Who we work with

Adults 18 and older in Brentwood and across western Suffolk, including North Bay Shore, Baywood, Central Islip, Bay Shore, Islip, East Islip, Hauppauge, Holbrook, Bohemia and Deer Park.

Brentwood sits inside the Town of Islip, and clients reach us from throughout that town and the surrounding communities. There is no service radius, because there is no office to draw one around.

What brings people in

Anxiety is the most common presentation, and here it is usually anchored in something concrete rather than free-floating: work, money, housing costs, immigration matters, family obligations that run in more than one direction.

Depression follows, and it is frequently described as exhaustion rather than sadness, which is part of why it goes unaddressed for so long in a community where a lot of people are working more than one job.

Trauma and grief are both meaningful shares of what we see, often carried quietly for years because there was never a practical window to deal with them.

Adult family work matters here as well, in households where several generations share space and the friction is structural. All participants must be 18 or older.

We also treat OCD, anger, chronic stress, burnout and life transitions.

What treatment looks like

A defined structure, so nothing about the process is opaque.

Intake first: what brought you in, relevant history, what you want changed, and a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. Your history second: history, health, relationships, stressors. Any question can be declined. Treatment plan third: written together, in your language, including one goal you choose for yourself.

Then weekly sessions, with a monthly review using standardized measures. Your therapist shows you the trend. If it is flat, the plan is what changes.

Our primary approach is CBT, which is structured, present-focused and skills-based. Where a different approach is a better fit, your therapist will name it.

About video sessions

For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is the careful version and we will not stretch it.

Privacy in a full household is the real logistical issue, not the technology. Clients take sessions from a parked car, a break room, or a bedroom with headphones. Tell your therapist and it becomes something to plan around.

If your needs exceed what weekly outpatient sessions can provide, we will say so plainly and help you find the right level of care.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. The first meeting

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. The wider picture

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Building the plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Brentwood questions

Does MindView have an office in Brentwood?

No. There is no MindView office in Brentwood and we will not suggest there is. Brentwood clients are seen by secure video. The nearest MindView office is in Jamaica, Queens, roughly 35 miles west, which the LIE makes a long trip most of the day.

What insurance do you take?

For New York telehealth we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We check your specific benefits and tell you the cost before your first session.

Do you offer sessions in Spanish?

Ask us when you contact us and we will answer straight. Which languages we can offer depends on which clinicians have availability at that moment, and we would rather tell you honestly than post a promise that is not true every week.

I work long hours. Can this fit?

Removing the drive is the main thing that makes it fit. Availability differs by clinician and shifts week to week, so we will tell you what is genuinely open rather than advertise hours we cannot guarantee.

Do you take Medicare?

Yes. Medicare is among the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your particular coverage, including any secondary plan, before you start.

Can adult family members attend together?

Yes, for adults. Family sessions require every participant to be 18 or older and physically in New York State. We do not see children or adolescents.

How fast can I get an appointment?

We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Booking takes about 30 seconds online.

What is the out-of-pocket cost?

In-network means a copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, with any unmet deductible applying first. It varies by plan, so we verify your benefits and give you the number in advance.

How do I get started?
