Every clinician state-licensed

Why MindView

Most therapy in Kingston has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Kingston deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Kingston, in short

MindView Therapy works with Kingston adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Kingston office and we are accepting new clients.

Kingston is the Ulster County seat and the service hub for a wide rural area, which means the local practices absorb demand from far beyond the city limits. We see adults across the mid-Hudson Valley by secure video, verify your plan before you book, and can usually start quickly.

A county seat absorbing a whole region’s demand

Kingston is the seat of Ulster County and sits where Rondout Creek meets the Hudson. It is the place people in a large rural county come for the hospital, the courts, the county offices and most professional services.

That includes therapy. The practices in Kingston are not just serving Kingston’s roughly 24,000 residents. They are serving everyone within a thirty-minute radius, which is a far larger number of people. The result is a persistent bottleneck, and it is why local waitlists here run long even though the city itself is not large.

Telehealth is a straightforward response. Our capacity is not tied to rooms in a building on Broadway, and we are in-network with the plans most people in this county carry.

Where our clients are

Adults 18 and older across the city’s distinct districts, which are genuinely distinct here: the Stockade District uptown, Midtown, and the Rondout and Downtown Waterfront along the creek.

Beyond the city, clients reach us from Hurley, Saugerties, Woodstock, Esopus, and across the river in Rhinebeck and Red Hook.

What we treat here

Anxiety is the most common. In this county it frequently attaches to money and to work that is seasonal or self-employed, which does not produce a predictable year.

Depression is second. Long winters, real distance between neighbors and a rhythm that empties out after tourist season are all part of the picture, and withdrawal is easy to mistake for just being busy.

Grief is a notable share of what we see, sometimes years old, often connected to care of an aging parent in a region where a lot of adults are doing exactly that.

Couples work is common, particularly in households built around irregular or seasonal income.

We also treat trauma, OCD, anger, burnout and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.

What care looks like

Four stages, in a fixed order.

Intake first, closing with a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. Your history second, across history, health, relationships and stressors, with every question declinable. Treatment plan third, written jointly, in your own words, including one goal you choose for yourself.

Then weekly sessions with a monthly review using standardized measures. Your therapist walks you through the trend line. If nothing is moving, the plan changes rather than the expectations on you.

Most of what we do is CBT, which is structured, present-focused and skills-based. Your therapist will say when a different approach fits your situation better.

Where video genuinely helps

For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. Stated narrowly, on purpose.

The specific advantage in a county like Ulster is continuity. A weekly appointment that requires a winter drive on rural roads gets cancelled, and a course of therapy with a month-long gap in February is a different thing than one without. Video sessions do not get called off for weather.

If your needs exceed what weekly outpatient care can provide, we will tell you and help you find the right level rather than keeping you booked.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. The first meeting

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. The wider picture

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Building the plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Kingston questions

Is there a MindView office in Kingston?

No. We have no Kingston office and will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so Kingston clients are seen online by secure video. There is no location where we see clients in person.

What insurance do you accept?

UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare, for New York telehealth. We verify your specific benefits and tell you your cost before your first session.

I live in Woodstock or Saugerties, not Kingston. Is that fine?

Completely. Our clinicians are licensed statewide rather than tied to a city, so Woodstock, Saugerties, Hurley, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Esopus and anywhere else in New York State all work the same way.

Do you take Medicare?

Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your particular coverage and any secondary plan before you begin.

Winter roads are bad here. Does that affect sessions?

That is one of the clearer arguments for video in this county. Weather does not cancel a session that never required a drive. Continuity through the winter is often where telehealth outperforms an in-office arrangement in a rural area.

What if I am not sure therapy is right for me?

The intake session is partly for figuring that out. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation to start, and if we do not think we are the right fit, we will say so directly rather than book you anyway.

How soon can I get in?

We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. Choosing a time online takes about 30 seconds.

What is the cost?

With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance instead of the full fee, and any unmet deductible comes first. It varies by plan, so we verify benefits and give you the number before you commit.

How do I get started?

  1. 1

    Check your insurance
