Every clinician state-licensed
Why MindView
Most therapy in Corning has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Corning deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Corning, in short
MindView Therapy works with Corning adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Corning office and we are accepting new clients.
Corning is a Southern Tier city on the Chemung River, headquarters of a Fortune 500 company, which makes it unusual among small upstate cities. We see adults across Steuben County by secure video.
A small city with a global company in it
Corning sits on the Chemung River in Steuben County, in the Southern Tier, where the Cohocton and Tioga rivers meet to form the Chemung. It has a population of about 10,600.
It is also the headquarters of Corning Incorporated, a Fortune 500 materials science company, and that single fact makes this city different from every other small upstate city on this site. Most places this size are defined by an industry that left. Corning is defined by one that stayed and became global.
The practical result is a small city with a workforce that includes research scientists, engineers, and corporate professionals, many of them relocated from elsewhere, alongside the ordinary population of a Southern Tier city. The restored Gaffer District downtown and the Corning Museum of Glass exist because of that unusual economic base.
What a company town looks like when the company is thriving
This produces its own kind of pressure, and it is genuinely different from the post-industrial pattern common across upstate New York.
Anxiety here is frequently high-functioning and performance-linked. The people who contact us are often doing well by any external measure, in technical or professional roles with real accountability, and privately running on empty. Perfectionism shows up often as a result: a standard that made someone excellent at twenty-eight and is costing them at forty-five.
There is also the relocation factor. A specialised employer draws people from other cities and countries into a small Southern Tier city. That can be a good life, and it can also mean a professional and a trailing partner in a place with a limited job market for the second person, no established social network, and family several time zones away. That combination is one of the more common quiet strains we see here.
The confidentiality question, answered directly
In a small city where one employer is this prominent, the concern people actually have is whether seeking therapy stays private. It deserves a straight answer.
It stays private. Therapy records are confidential and legally protected, with narrow exceptions, principally an imminent risk to someone’s safety. We are not an employee assistance program, we have no reporting relationship with any employer, and nobody is told whether you attended or what was discussed.
An insurance claim tells your plan that a covered service happened. It does not tell your employer, and it does not transmit the content of sessions.
There is also a simple practical dimension. In a city this size, a local waiting room is not anonymous. A video session from your own house removes that consideration entirely, and for a fair number of people here that is the deciding factor.
Insurance we accept in New York
We are in-network in New York with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
We check your plan before your first session and tell you what you will pay.
Where our clients are
Adults 18 and older in the Gaffer District, Downtown Corning, the Northside and the Southside, plus the surrounding communities: Painted Post, Riverside, South Corning, Erwin, and Big Flats and Horseheads toward Elmira.
What people come in for here
Anxiety leads, in the high-functioning form described above.
Perfectionism and performance-related stress are named separately because they show up here more than in most markets we serve, and because they respond well to structured treatment rather than to open-ended talking.
Depression is second overall, and among high achievers it is frequently mislabelled as burnout for a long time before anyone treats it as depression.
Couples work is common, particularly in relocated households and in the trailing-partner situation described above.
We also treat trauma, OCD, grief, anger and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.
A note on the river
Corning sits in a valley where the surrounding hillsides shed rain quickly, and the city has a serious flood history. In 1972 the remnants of Hurricane Agnes put the entire downtown under water and killed eighteen people in the immediate Corning and Painted Post area.
We raise it for one reason. In communities with a major flood history, heavy sustained rain is a genuine trigger for some people, and that reaction is neither irrational nor unusual. It has a name and it responds to treatment. If that is part of what you carry, it is a legitimate thing to bring to a first session rather than something to feel foolish about.
How care is structured
Four stages, in a fixed order, and the transparency tends to suit people who are used to being measured at work.
Intake first, closing with a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. Your history second, across history, health, relationships and stressors, with any question declinable. Treatment plan third, written with you in your own words, including a goal you choose yourself.
Then weekly sessions, with a monthly review against standardized measures. You see the actual trend rather than being told things are going well. If it is flat, the plan changes.
CBT is the primary method: structured, present-focused, skills-based, and finite in a way open-ended therapy is not.
Video, stated carefully
Where CBT delivered over video has been compared with CBT delivered in person, outcomes have generally been comparable for the outpatient concerns we treat. Phrased tightly, because the honest version of this claim is a narrow one.
If what you are dealing with needs more than weekly outpatient sessions, we will tell you and help you get to the right level rather than keeping you booked here.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Corning questions
Do you have an office in Corning?
No. MindView has no Corning office and we will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so every Corning client is seen online by secure video. We do not see clients in person at any location.
Is anything I say going to get back to my employer?
No. Therapy records are confidential and protected by law, with narrow exceptions such as an imminent safety risk. We are not an employee assistance program, we do not report attendance or content to any employer, and an insurance claim tells your plan that a covered service occurred rather than what was discussed.
I live in Painted Post or Horseheads, not Corning. Does that work?
Yes. We are licensed statewide rather than scoped to a city, so Painted Post, Riverside, South Corning, Erwin, Big Flats, Horseheads and anywhere else in New York State are all fine.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your specific coverage, including any secondary plan, before you begin.
Can sessions work around a demanding professional schedule?
Usually. Removing the travel is what makes an early morning or evening appointment realistic. Tell us the constraint when you book and we will work with it.
How soon can I be seen?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. You choose a session time online in under a minute.
What will it cost?
With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, with any unmet deductible applying first. We verify your benefits and tell you the number before you book.
