Why MindView
Most therapy in Syracuse has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Syracuse deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Syracuse, in short
MindView Therapy sees Syracuse clients by secure video anywhere in New York State. We are a CBT-focused practice for adults 18 and older, in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We do not have a Syracuse office, and we are accepting new clients now.
Therapy only works if you actually get there most weeks. Syracuse averages 127.8 inches of snow a year, more than any other large city in the country, and a plan that depends on driving loses a session every few weeks from December through March. We see adults across Onondaga County by secure video, so the weather stops being a scheduling problem.
Who do you help in Syracuse?
MindView Therapy works with adults 18 and older across Onondaga County. Clients come to us from Armory Square, Eastwood, the North Side, Westcott, and Strathmore, and from the surrounding towns: DeWitt, Camillus, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, Manlius, and Cicero.
People book for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, burnout, grief, and relationship strain. No diagnosis is needed to start, and you do not have to arrive with the problem already worked out.
The winter problem this city actually has
Syracuse averages 127.8 inches of snow a year (NOAA 1991-2020 climate normals, Hancock International Airport), the most of any large city in the United States.
That number matters here for one reason: therapy works on repetition. Skills get built by practicing them between sessions and reporting back. A course of therapy that drops a week in mid-January, another in early February, and a third when the driveway is not clear is not a slower version of the same treatment. It is a different and weaker one, because each gap resets momentum you already paid for.
Every session at MindView is online, by secure video, so a storm is a reason to stay home rather than a reason to reschedule. The snow becomes irrelevant to whether the appointment happens.
What video does require is a private hour and a connection you trust. If you do not have a reliable place to take a session, say so at intake and we will plan around it.
Which insurance works in Syracuse?
In New York we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
We check your plan before your first session and tell you what you will pay.
Does online therapy actually work?
For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is the honest version of the claim, and we would rather state it that way than oversell it.
Telehealth is not right for every situation. If your needs call for a higher level of care than outpatient video sessions can provide, we will tell you directly and help you find the right placement.
How you will know whether it is working
This is the part most practices leave vague, so here is ours.
Once a month you fill out standardized measures and your therapist reviews the trend with you on screen. You see the same numbers your therapist sees. If the plan is not moving, the plan changes rather than continuing because it is what you started with.
Your first session is intake and your 0 to 10 baseline. The work then opens out into the rest of your history, nothing in it compulsory, and settles into a written treatment plan built jointly, in plain language, with a personal goal included. After that, sessions are weekly.
Most of our work is cognitive behavioral therapy: structured, present-focused, and skills-based. For anxiety and depression it is among the most heavily researched approaches available.
How do I start?
Book online through our secure client portal. It takes about 30 seconds. Have your insurance member ID card ready.
We verify your benefits, confirm what you will owe, and get you scheduled. We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Prefer to talk to a person first? Call (646) 493-4007.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Syracuse questions
Does MindView Therapy have an office in Syracuse?
No. MindView is telehealth only, so every Syracuse client is seen online by secure video anywhere in New York State. There is no in-person option at any of our locations.
What insurance do you take in Syracuse?
UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We verify your specific benefits and tell you what you will owe before your first session.
Is online therapy as effective as sitting in an office?
Research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes for the outpatient concerns we treat. Video also removes the reason most Syracuse clients give for a missed week, which is the drive. If your needs call for more than outpatient video sessions can provide, we will say so and help you find the right placement.
What happens if my internet drops mid-session?
Your therapist calls you. Every client gives us a phone number at intake precisely for this, so a bad connection costs you a few minutes rather than the appointment. Lake-effect weather can take out power in Onondaga County, and a session by phone still counts.
Can my therapist be licensed in another state?
No. A therapist must be licensed in the state where you are physically sitting during the session, not where the practice is based. Our clinicians are licensed in New York.
How soon can I be seen?
We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Booking online takes about 30 seconds.
I am a student here. Can I keep sessions going over the summer?
Only while you are physically in New York State. If you go home to another state, sessions have to pause until you are back. Tell your therapist early and the work can be planned around your academic calendar instead of interrupted by it.
What happens in the first session?
Intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, some history, and what you want to change, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That number becomes the baseline you get measured against later.
Do you offer couples counseling in Syracuse?
Yes, by video with both partners on the call. Partners can join from two different locations if schedules require it, as long as both are physically in New York State.
