Why MindView
Most therapy in Brooklyn has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Brooklyn deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Brooklyn, in short
MindView Therapy sees Brooklyn clients by secure video anywhere in New York State. We are a structured, CBT-focused practice for adults 18 and older, in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. MindView is telehealth only, and we are accepting new clients now.
Brooklyn holds more people than any other borough, which makes finding a therapist here a volume problem. Scrolling hundreds of profiles hoping one takes your plan and has an opening is its own part-time job. We shortcut it. We take major commercial plans, we confirm your cost before the first session, and sessions run by video, so where you live in the borough stops mattering.
Therapy sized for the fourth-largest city in America
Brooklyn is home to 2.6 million people (ACS 2024). If the borough stood alone it would be the fourth-largest city in the United States, bigger than Houston, and all of it fits into 69 square miles at nearly 38,000 people per square mile.
A city that dense holds every kind of schedule, language, and household, and no single therapy office can sit conveniently in all of it. That is the case for video care here: your therapist search stops being limited to your own subway line.
We work with adults 18 and older. The concerns are the ones a dense, expensive borough produces in volume: anxiety that will not idle down, depression that reads as flatness, relationship strain in small apartments, burnout, grief, OCD, and trauma. You do not need a diagnosis in hand to reach out.
Where our Brooklyn clients live
Clients reach us from Downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Williamsburg, Bushwick, Flatbush, Sunset Park, Crown Heights, Bay Ridge, Greenpoint, East New York, and Sheepshead Bay, and from the neighborhoods between them.
Brooklyn sits on the western tip of Long Island, sharing a land border with Queens and reaching Manhattan over the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg bridges. More than a third of the borough was born outside the United States. None of that geography changes what we do, and that is the point: wherever in Brooklyn you are, the session is the same secure video call.
Do you have an office in Brooklyn?
No. We will not pretend a presence we do not have. Every Brooklyn session runs by secure video.
The nearest MindView office is in Jamaica, Queens, about 12 miles from Downtown Brooklyn and considerably closer from the borough’s eastern edge. Some Brooklyn clients choose to be seen there. Most do not, because the point of video care in this borough is that the transfer, the parking, and the cross-borough bus ride stop being part of your treatment plan.
How therapy works at MindView
Structured, and openly so. The first session is an intake: what brought you in, what you want different, and a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. The second is a history session, the wider history, with the explicit right to skip any question. The third produces a written treatment plan the two of you build together, including one personal goal in your own words.
Sessions then run weekly. Once a month you complete standardized measures and review the trend with your therapist. A plan that is not moving gets changed, not repeated.
Most of our work is cognitive behavioral therapy: present-focused, skills-based, and among the most researched approaches for anxiety and depression. When something else suits your situation better, your therapist says so.
Does therapy over video hold up?
For the outpatient concerns we treat, studies comparing video CBT with office-based CBT have generally found comparable results. We state that carefully because it is the honest version of the claim.
We also put a floor under it with measurement: the monthly numbers tell both of you whether the work is working. And if what you need is more support than weekly outpatient video can provide, we say that out loud and help you find the right level of care rather than holding the slot.
How do I get started?
Book through our secure client portal. You choose a time, about 30 seconds, and having your insurance card nearby speeds it up.
We check your benefits, tell you your cost, and schedule you. We respond within one business day, and we are accepting new clients. If you would rather start with a voice, call (646) 493-4007.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Brooklyn questions
Is there a MindView office in Brooklyn?
No, and we would rather say so plainly than imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so every Brooklyn client is seen online by secure video. We do not offer in-person appointments anywhere, which means no crosstown trip on the B or the Q to make a weeknight slot.
What insurance do you take for Brooklyn clients?
UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. Before your first session we confirm your specific plan and tell you what you will owe, so nothing about the bill is a surprise.
Do you offer therapy in a language other than English?
Nearly half of Brooklyn speaks a language other than English at home, so we get this question a lot. Language availability changes with our clinician roster, so the honest answer is to ask rather than trust a webpage. Tell us what you need when you reach out and we will say plainly whether we can meet it right now.
Can my partner and I join a couples session from two different places?
Yes. Partners can join the same video session from separate locations, which suits Brooklyn couples working different schedules. The one rule is that both of you must be physically in New York State while the session happens.
Does my therapist have to be licensed in New York?
Yes. The law follows where you are sitting during the session, not where the therapist is. Our clinicians hold New York licenses, which is what makes it lawful for them to treat you in Brooklyn.
How quickly can I start?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. Booking online is just choosing a time, about 30 seconds.
How online therapy worksWhat happens in the first few sessions?
The first session is an intake where you describe what brought you in and rate its intensity from 0 to 10. The early work takes a broader look at your history, with any question declinable, and leads to a treatment plan you and your therapist write together. After that, sessions are weekly.
What will a session cost me?
With an in-network plan you pay your copay or coinsurance instead of the full fee, and an unmet deductible may apply first. Because the number depends on your plan, we verify benefits up front and quote the cost to you before your first appointment.
