Why MindView
Most therapy in Freeport has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Freeport deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Freeport, in short
MindView Therapy provides secure video therapy to Freeport adults 18 and older throughout New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Freeport office, and we are open to new clients.
Freeport runs on the Long Island Rail Road and on shift work, and neither leaves much room for a standing 5pm appointment across town. We work with adults on the South Shore by secure video, take most major plans, and schedule around the way people here actually work.
Built around shift work and the train
Freeport’s working week does not look like a nine-to-five. Between the LIRR commute into the city, marine and hospitality work along the Nautical Mile, healthcare shifts, trades and public-sector schedules, a large share of adults here are working hours that do not line up with when most therapy offices are open.
That is the actual barrier. Not willingness, availability.
A video session needs a private 50 minutes, not a 50-minute appointment plus travel on both ends. That difference is what lets someone on an irregular schedule keep a weekly commitment instead of cancelling twice and giving up.
The area we cover
Adults 18 and older in Freeport itself, including the Nautical Mile and Bay View areas, and across the surrounding South Shore communities: Baldwin, Merrick, Roosevelt, Rockville Centre, Oceanside, Bellmore, Wantagh and out to Point Lookout.
None of that depends on proximity to an office, because there is no office. It depends only on you being in New York State during the session.
What people come in for
Anxiety is first, and here it is frequently practical rather than abstract: money, housing costs, storms and flooding, job security, a schedule that never settles.
Depression is second, and it often looks like being permanently tired rather than being sad.
Couples work is a large share of our South Shore inquiries. Two people on opposite shifts do not have a communication problem so much as an overlap problem, and it erodes things quietly.
Anger and reactivity comes up often too, usually in people who are stretched thin and have run out of margin.
We also treat trauma, grief, OCD, burnout and life transitions. Adults 18 and over.
How the care is built
There is a defined sequence rather than an open-ended arrangement.
Intake comes first, with a 0 to 10 baseline rating. The history session is second, covering history, health, relationships and stressors, with the right to decline any question. The treatment plan is third, written jointly, in your words, with one goal that is personally yours.
Then weekly sessions and a monthly review using standardized measures. The trend gets shown to you. A flat line changes the plan, not the expectations placed on you.
Most work is CBT: structured, present-focused, skills-based. When something else suits the problem better, your therapist will say so.
The honest read on telehealth
For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. We keep that statement narrow deliberately.
If your needs go beyond what weekly outpatient care can provide, we will tell you and help you find the right level rather than keeping the appointment on the books.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Freeport questions
Is there a Freeport office?
No. MindView has no office in Freeport and we are direct about that. Freeport clients are seen by secure video. Our closest office is in Jamaica, Queens, about 18 miles west.
Which plans do you take?
For New York telehealth we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. Benefits are verified before your first session so the cost is not a surprise.
I work nights. Is that workable?
It is a common situation here and worth raising when you contact us. Availability varies by clinician week to week, so we will tell you what genuinely exists rather than promise a slot. Not having to travel does widen which hours can work.
Can I be seen if I am in Baldwin or Merrick instead?
Yes. Licensure is statewide, not by village. If you are physically in New York during the session we can work with you, whether that is Freeport, Baldwin, Merrick, Roosevelt, Oceanside or anywhere else.
What happens in session one?
It is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, some history, and what you want to be different, then has you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10 as a starting point to measure against.
Do you do couples counseling?
Yes. Both partners join by video, and they can join from two different locations when schedules do not line up, as long as both are physically in New York State.
How soon can I start?
We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Online booking takes half a minute.
What will I owe?
With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance instead of the full fee, and an unmet deductible applies first if you have one. We verify your benefits and tell you the amount before you book.
