Why MindView
Most therapy in Long Beach has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Long Beach deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Long Beach, in short
MindView Therapy sees Long Beach adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Long Beach office and we are accepting new clients.
Long Beach is a barrier island city with one way on and off by car, and a small number of local practices to choose from. We work with adults here by secure video, take most major commercial plans plus Medicare, and remove the bridge from the equation entirely.
An island with a bridge between you and most options
Long Beach is a small city on a barrier island. Roughly 35,000 people live on it, and every route to the mainland crosses water. That geography shapes everything about local access to care.
There are only so many practices on the island. Once you filter for the ones taking new clients and the ones in-network with your plan, the list gets short quickly. Going off-island means a bridge in both directions, and in summer it means traffic that turns a 50-minute appointment into a two-hour errand.
Video sessions delete the bridge. That is the practical case for telehealth here, and it holds in February as much as in July.
Where clients are
Adults 18 and older across the city: the West End, the East End, the Central District, the President Streets, the Walks, North Park, the Canals and Westholme.
We also work with adults elsewhere on and around the barrier island and the nearby South Shore, including Lido Beach, Point Lookout, East Atlantic Beach, Atlantic Beach and Island Park.
What we treat
Anxiety is the most common. In a coastal city it frequently attaches to something concrete: storms, flood insurance, property, and for a lot of longtime residents a set of memories tied to what a bad storm actually did here.
Depression is second. It presents as withdrawal and flatness more than as visible sadness, and in a place with a strong seasonal rhythm it can deepen noticeably in the off-season.
Grief is third, and it is elevated in this market partly because Long Beach has a large year-round older population. Loss of a spouse, of health, of independence.
Couples work and trauma round out the list. We also see OCD, burnout, anger and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.
How treatment is organized
A defined structure rather than an open-ended arrangement.
Your first session is intake, ending with a 0 to 10 baseline rating. After that the wider context of your life gets mapped, at your pace and with anything skippable, and a written treatment plan comes out of it, agreed between you, including one goal you choose yourself.
Then weekly work, plus a monthly review using standardized measures. Your therapist shows you the trend rather than describing it. If it is not moving, the plan changes.
Most of what we do is CBT, which is structured, present-focused and skills-based. If another approach fits your situation better, your therapist will tell you.
The case for and against video
For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is stated narrowly and on purpose.
One caveat specific to this city: because our licensure is New York only, sessions cannot continue while you are physically in another state. For anyone who winters elsewhere, that is worth raising at intake so the schedule is built around it rather than interrupted by it.
If your needs exceed weekly outpatient care, we will say so and help you find the right level.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Long Beach questions
Is there a MindView office in Long Beach?
No. We have no Long Beach office and will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so Long Beach clients are seen online by secure video. That also means no Loop Parkway, no Long Beach Road and no bridge in either direction on a session day.
Which insurance plans are in-network?
UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare, for New York telehealth. We verify your particular benefits before your first session.
I only live here part of the year. Does that work?
It depends on where you are physically located during the session. We can see you anywhere in New York State. If you spend part of the year in another state, sessions cannot continue while you are there, because a therapist must be licensed where you are sitting. Tell us and we will plan around it.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth, which matters in a city with a substantial year-round retiree population. We confirm your coverage and any secondary plan first.
Can sessions continue if I travel for work?
Anywhere in New York State, yes. Outside the state, no, for licensure reasons rather than technical ones. Let your therapist know your schedule and it gets worked around.
What happens in the first appointment?
An intake. What brought you in, relevant history, what you want to change, and a 0 to 10 rating of the intensity of what you are feeling. That rating is the baseline everything afterwards is measured against.
How soon can I start?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. You choose a session time online in under a minute.
What will I pay?
With an in-network plan you owe a copay or coinsurance rather than the full fee, and any unmet deductible comes first. We verify benefits and give you the number before your first session.
