Why MindView
Most therapy in Newburgh has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Newburgh deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Newburgh, in short
MindView Therapy sees Newburgh adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We do not have a Newburgh office and we are accepting new clients.
Newburgh sits on the Hudson about 60 miles north of New York City, and the demand for outpatient mental health here has always outrun the supply. We work with adults across the mid-Hudson Valley by secure video, take most major plans plus Medicare, and can typically start within days.
Demand that has always outrun supply
Newburgh is a principal city of the Kiryas Joel-Poughkeepsie-Newburgh metropolitan area and one of the older river cities in the Hudson Valley. It also has a long-standing shortage of outpatient behavioral health capacity relative to the need.
The consequence people run into is a waitlist. Then another waitlist. Then the realization that the practices with openings do not take the plan they have.
We are a statewide telehealth practice, so our availability is not limited by rooms in one building, and we are in-network with the major commercial carriers and with Medicare. If we can take you, you will know quickly. If we cannot, we will say that rather than list you.
Where clients connect from
Adults 18 and older in the city, including Downtown, the East End Historic District and Washington Heights, plus the surrounding communities: the Town of Newburgh, New Windsor, Cornwall, Marlboro and Wallkill, and across the river in Beacon and Fishkill.
Since there is no office to draw a radius around, the river is not a boundary and neither is the county line.
Common presentations here
Anxiety leads. It is often tied to concrete pressure rather than to nothing in particular: employment, housing, transportation, and responsibility for other people.
Depression is close behind and frequently reads as flatness or exhaustion rather than as sadness, which is one reason it goes unnamed for a long time.
Trauma is a substantial share of what we see. Much of it is not recent. It is something absorbed years ago that was never given room, and that still shapes sleep, reactivity and relationships.
Grief and anger round out the list. Anger in particular deserves to be stated plainly as a treatable presentation that responds well to structured skills work, not as a character problem.
We also treat OCD, chronic stress, burnout, relationship strain and life transitions. Adults only.
How the work is organized
The sequence is fixed so you always know what comes next.
One, intake. What brought you in, relevant history, what you want different, and a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. Two, history session. History, health, relationships, stressors. Any question can be declined. Three, treatment plan. Written with you, in your language, with one personal goal that you set.
Then weekly sessions and a monthly review with standardized measures. Your therapist shows you the trend directly. If it is not moving, the plan gets revised. That is what measuring is for.
The primary modality is CBT, structured and present-focused, built on skills you keep. Where another approach fits better, your therapist will say so.
On telehealth
For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is the accurate, limited claim.
Two practical notes for this market. Transportation is not required, which for many people here is the deciding factor. And privacy at home can be the real obstacle: clients take sessions from a parked car, a break room, or a room with headphones and a closed door. Bring it up and your therapist will plan around it.
If you need a higher level of care than weekly outpatient sessions provide, we will tell you and help you find it.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Newburgh questions
Do you have a Newburgh office?
No. MindView has no office in Newburgh and we are direct about that. MindView is telehealth only, so Newburgh clients are seen online by secure video. There is no location where we see clients in person.
Which insurance plans do you take?
For New York telehealth we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. Your benefits are verified before your first session so the cost is known in advance.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is among the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We check your specific coverage and any secondary plan before you start.
I do not have a car. Does that matter?
Not for telehealth, which is much of the point. There is no trip to make. What you need is a private space and a workable connection, and a phone on cellular data is often enough when home internet is not.
Can I be seen if I live across the river in Beacon?
Yes. We are licensed across New York State, so Beacon, Fishkill, New Windsor, Cornwall, Marlboro, Wallkill and the Town of Newburgh are all fine, along with anywhere else in the state.
Is it confidential?
Yes. Sessions run on a secure video platform and carry the same protections a conversation in an office would. We do not record sessions.
How long is the wait?
We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Choosing a time online takes under a minute.
What will I owe?
In-network means a copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, with any unmet deductible applying first. Amounts vary by plan, so we verify and tell you before you book.
