Every clinician state-licensed
Why MindView
Most therapy in Ogdensburg has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Ogdensburg deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Ogdensburg, in short
MindView Therapy sees Ogdensburg adults 18 and older by secure video across New York State. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. There is no Ogdensburg office and we are accepting new clients.
Ogdensburg sits on the St. Lawrence River at New York's northern border, the only city in St. Lawrence County and one of the most remote markets in the state. We work with adults here by secure video.
The only city in the largest county in New York
Ogdensburg sits at the mouth of the Oswegatchie River on the south bank of the St. Lawrence River, at New York’s northern border. Its population was 10,064 at the 2020 census.
Two facts about it are worth stating together, because between them they explain almost everything about access to care here. St. Lawrence County is the largest county in New York State by area, and Ogdensburg is the only formally designated city in it. Everything else in that very large territory is a town or a village.
The city is the only U.S. port on the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge just northeast of it connects to Ontario and the highway to Ottawa.
Remoteness, stated without softening
MindView is telehealth only. Every session is online by secure video, in Ogdensburg and everywhere else we work, and we do not see clients in person at any location. On the far northern border that is the point rather than the caveat: care here does not depend on what is within driving distance.
Within the region, the picture is not much better. Syracuse is roughly two and a half hours south. Burlington, Vermont is across the water and in another state, which rules it out for New York licensure. What exists locally is concentrated in a handful of places across an enormous county.
There is one relevant local institution worth naming accurately: the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, a New York State Office of Mental Health facility in Ogdensburg providing inpatient and outpatient services to the public. It is a genuine resource and a serious one, and for someone who needs that level of care it may well be the right place rather than us.
We are outpatient weekly therapy for adults, delivered by video. That is a different thing from what a state psychiatric center provides, and we would rather draw the distinction plainly than blur it.
Insurance we accept in New York
We are in-network in New York with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
We check your plan before your first session and tell you what you will pay.
The border, and where you are sitting
The international bridge is minutes from downtown and crossing is ordinary here, so this needs to be explicit.
A therapist must be licensed in the jurisdiction where the client is physically located during the session. Our clinicians are licensed in New York State.
That means sessions work when you are in Ogdensburg, Canton, Massena or anywhere else in New York, and they do not work when you are in Ontario. If a given week takes you across the bridge at your appointment time, the session needs to move rather than happen from the wrong side.
Where our clients are
Adults 18 and older in Downtown Ogdensburg, along the St. Lawrence waterfront, near Lighthouse Point and on the South Side, plus the surrounding communities: Heuvelton, Lisbon, Waddington, Morristown, and Canton and Massena further into the county.
What people come in for here
Depression is the leading presentation. The North Country combination of long dark winters, real physical isolation and decades of economic contraction is a well-recognised contributor, and a great deal of what we see has been present for years without being named.
Anxiety is close behind, generally anchored to concrete things: employment, money, health, an aging parent, the logistics of living a long way from services.
Trauma is a meaningful share and responds to structured, evidence-based treatment.
Grief is substantial and frequently layered, in a community where families remain in the same towns across generations.
Anger and irritability comes up regularly and deserves to be named without judgment. It responds well to structured skills work.
We also treat OCD, burnout, relationship strain and life transitions. Adults 18 and over only.
Isolation here is literal
This is worth separating from the general use of the word, because in this county it means something concrete.
In a city, isolation usually describes not feeling connected to the people around you. On the St. Lawrence in February it can mean not seeing another person outside your household for several days, because the distances are real, the weather is severe and there is not much within reach that is open.
Those are different problems and they need different plans. Behavioral activation, the core CBT approach to depression, is built on re-establishing contact with activities that reliably lift mood, and a standard version of it assumes an environment with options nearby.
Here that assumption fails immediately. Your therapist will build the plan around what is genuinely reachable from where you live, in the season you are actually in. That takes more work and it is the difference between a plan that helps and a worksheet that gets abandoned.
How care is structured
Four stages, in a fixed order.
The intake comes first and closes with a 0 to 10 intensity rating that becomes your baseline. The history session is second, across history, health, relationships and stressors, and any question can be declined. The treatment plan is third, written with you in your own words, including a goal you choose for yourself.
Then weekly sessions, with a monthly review against standardized measures. Your therapist shows you the trend. A flat trend changes the plan.
CBT is the primary approach: structured, present-focused, skills-based, with the between-session work carrying real weight in a place where a week can pass with little external input.
Video, stated carefully
About whether this works: for the outpatient presentations we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with the in-person form has generally found comparable outcomes. We will not oversell that.
Video also has limits. If your needs sit beyond weekly outpatient care, we say so and help you find the appropriate level instead of retaining you on the schedule.
Getting started
Start in the secure client portal. It takes about 30 seconds, and having your insurance card nearby speeds up the benefits check.
We verify coverage, confirm your cost up front, and schedule you. You will hear back inside one business day, or reach us on (646) 493-4007.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Ogdensburg questions
Do you have an office in Ogdensburg?
No. MindView has no Ogdensburg office and we will not imply one. MindView is telehealth only, so every Ogdensburg client is seen online by secure video. We do not offer in-person appointments anywhere.
I cross into Canada regularly. Does that affect sessions?
Yes. A therapist must be licensed where you are physically sitting, and ours are licensed in New York State. Sessions can happen when you are in New York and cannot when you are in Ontario, so a session may need moving if you will be across the bridge.
I live in Canton or Massena, not Ogdensburg. Does that work?
Yes. We are licensed statewide rather than scoped to a city, so Heuvelton, Lisbon, Waddington, Morristown, Canton, Massena and anywhere else in New York State are all fine.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. Medicare is one of the plans we are in-network with for New York telehealth. We confirm your specific coverage, including any secondary plan, before you begin.
My internet is unreliable. Is that going to stop this working?
Usually not. Video needs a stable connection more than a fast one, and a phone on cellular data sometimes works better than rural home service. If it keeps interrupting sessions, tell your therapist and they will work through the logistics with you.
How soon can I be seen?
We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. You pick a time online in about 30 seconds.
What will it cost?
With an in-network plan you pay a copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, with any unmet deductible applying first. We verify your benefits and tell you the number before you book.
