Why MindView
Most therapy in Binghamton has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Most practices in Binghamton deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Binghamton, in short
MindView Therapy sees Binghamton clients by secure video anywhere in New York State. We are a CBT-focused practice for adults 18 and older, in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We do not have a Binghamton office, and we are accepting new clients now.
A large public university sits inside a small city that has been shrinking for seventy years, and the two populations need fairly different things. We work with adults across Broome County by secure video, most major plans taken, booking in about 30 seconds.
Who do you help in Binghamton?
MindView Therapy works with adults 18 and older across Broome County: downtown, the West Side and the North Side, plus Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Endwell, Chenango Bridge, Conklin and Apalachin.
People book for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, burnout, grief and relationship strain. No diagnosis required, and no need to have the problem worded well first.
We also see couples.
Two Binghamtons in one caseload
Binghamton holds two populations that barely overlap, and a therapist here works with both.
One is young and temporary. 16.2% of city residents are aged 20 to 24 (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 five-year estimates), a concentration that exists because of the university and empties out every summer. These are often people having their first experience of therapy, working from something they read, unsure whether what they are dealing with counts as bad enough to bring to anyone.
The other is long-settled and has watched the place contract. Binghamton held 80,674 people in 1950 and holds 47,151 now (U.S. Census Bureau, 1950 Census of Population; U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 five-year estimates), a fall of more than 40%. Endicott is where IBM started, and the shape of what left is still visible in the housing stock and the storefronts.
The clinical difference matters. A twenty-year-old is usually trying to name something for the first time. Someone who has spent forty years here is usually trying to deal with something they can name perfectly well and have been carrying a long time, which is a different piece of work and generally slower. Neither one is the standard case, so we do not run a standard plan.
Does video therapy actually work?
For the outpatient concerns we treat, research comparing video-delivered CBT with in-person CBT has generally found comparable outcomes. That is the honest version and we leave it there.
Our own method is the verifiable part. Once a month you complete standardized measures and go through the trend with your therapist. If it has not moved after a fair trial, the plan changes.
Not every situation fits outpatient video care, and we say so at intake when it does not.
The method, and one thing students should know
The approach is cognitive behavioral therapy: structured, present-focused, organized around skills practiced between sessions. You co-write a treatment plan in your own words and sessions run weekly.
If you are here for a degree, plan around the state line rather than the semester. Sessions continue over a break anywhere in New York, but a summer at home in New Jersey or Pennsylvania means pausing. Flag your term dates at intake and it gets built into the plan.
How do I start?
Book online through our secure client portal. It takes about 30 seconds. Have your insurance member ID card ready.
We verify your benefits, confirm what you will owe, and get you scheduled. We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Prefer to talk to a person first? Call (646) 493-4007.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The first meeting
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- The wider picture
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Building the plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Binghamton questions
Does MindView Therapy have an office in Binghamton?
No, and there is no site to visit anywhere. MindView operates entirely online, so Binghamton clients meet their therapist by secure video like everyone else we see in New York State.
What insurance do you take in Binghamton?
UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We verify your specific benefits and tell you what you will owe before your first session.
Is it hard to find a therapist in Binghamton?
Many people in the Southern Tier tell us the same thing: the local practices they called were full, or the wait was months. That shortage is the reason telehealth matters here. Our availability does not depend on how many clinicians happen to be practicing in Broome County.
Can my therapist be licensed in another state?
No. Your physical location during the session decides it, not the practice's. New York licenses are what let us work with you anywhere in Broome County. Cross into Pennsylvania and that stops being true.
How soon can I be seen?
We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. Booking online takes about 30 seconds.
What happens in the first session?
The first appointment is an intake. You go through what prompted the call, the history behind it, and the change you are after, then rate the present intensity from 0 to 10. That figure anchors everything measured later.
Do you offer couples counseling in Binghamton?
Yes. One video session with both partners present, joining together or from two separate places if that is what the week permits. Both need to be within New York State during the session.
