Why MindView
Most therapy in Brentwood has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Brentwood, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy takes Medicare and sees Brentwood adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare is federal, and the patient's home is a permitted site for mental health telehealth, so there is no geographic restriction to work around. On Original Medicare you meet the Part B deductible and then pay 20 percent. If you carry an Advantage plan we verify network status before booking rather than assume it.
Suffolk County is one of the few large New York counties where Original Medicare is still the majority arrangement. Seven in ten local beneficiaries are on it, which means the cost of a therapy session here is usually a piece of straightforward arithmetic rather than a plan copay somebody has to look up. It is worth walking through that arithmetic before the first appointment.
The arithmetic on Original Medicare, start to finish
Yes. We take Medicare, and Brentwood adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. On Original Medicare, the arithmetic for a therapy session is fixed and public rather than something buried in a plan document. For 2026, you meet a Part B annual deductible of $283, and once that is met you pay 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each covered visit going forward.
That is the whole calculation. There is no employer who decided a different copay, no fund that negotiated a different percentage, and no plan year that starts on a date only a benefits office knows. The number is the same for every Original Medicare beneficiary in the country, adjusted only by whether the annual deductible has already been met and by whether supplemental coverage picks up part of the remaining 20 percent.
The standard Part B monthly premium for 2026 is $202.90, which most beneficiaries pay out of their Social Security benefit rather than as a separate bill, and it is worth knowing about even though it does not change the per-session cost. What actually moves the number you owe at a given appointment is where you stand against the $283 annual deductible. Early in the year, before it has been met, you owe the full allowed amount for the visit. Once it is cleared, the 20 percent coinsurance is all that remains, and it stays fixed at that percentage for the rest of the plan year.
Why that arithmetic applies to most people in Suffolk County
Suffolk County had 328,741 Medicare beneficiaries in 2025, and 231,787 of them, 70.5 percent, were enrolled in Original Medicare rather than a Medicare Advantage plan. That is a clear majority, and it runs against the shape of Medicare enrollment in a lot of upstate New York, where Advantage plans have become the more common arrangement. For a Brentwood reader, the practical consequence is that the fixed-arithmetic version of Medicare, rather than a plan-specific benefit design, is the one most locally likely to apply.
That figure is a Suffolk County number, not a Brentwood number, since Brentwood’s own coverage data does not exist at this level of detail. It is also not the whole picture. The remaining 96,954 beneficiaries, 29.5 percent of the county, are on an Advantage plan or another Medicare health plan, and their cost sharing follows different rules entirely. A majority pattern is not a universal one, and we treat every card individually regardless of what the county-wide split suggests.
The 2020 Census counted 6,378 Brentwood residents aged 65 and over, 10.2 percent of the CDP’s 62,387 people, which is the one figure available at the Brentwood level itself rather than the county level. It is five years old at this point and it counts residents, not Medicare beneficiaries specifically, so it grounds the county-wide CMS numbers in the place without standing in for them. Age alone does not tell us who among those residents is on Original Medicare, an Advantage plan, or something else, and that split for Brentwood itself is not something guessed at here.
If your card says Advantage, we check before we book
A Medicare Advantage plan is sold by a private insurer under contract with Medicare, and it sets its own provider network and its own cost sharing rather than inheriting the fixed Part B percentage. Two Advantage plans can price the identical visit very differently, and network status for a given clinician is not something that can be assumed just because the plan carries the Medicare Advantage label.
Our standing practice is to verify network status for every Advantage card before booking rather than assume it. That is deliberate and consistent: we do not tell an Advantage member that coverage is confirmed until we have actually checked it, and we do not guess based on which insurer’s name is printed on the card. If your plan is not in-network, we say so plainly rather than book the appointment first and sort it out afterward.
This distinction is worth being direct about, because the two forms of Medicare are easy to confuse from the outside. Both cards say Medicare somewhere on them. Both are administered under federal rules. But Original Medicare’s cost sharing is the same nationwide arithmetic described above, while an Advantage plan’s cost sharing is whatever that specific insurer built into that specific plan, which can include a flat copay instead of a percentage, a different deductible, or no deductible at all for outpatient mental health visits. Reading the card correctly at the start avoids a surprise later.
Coming to Medicare before 65
Most Medicare beneficiaries qualify by turning 65, but not all of them. Suffolk County has 31,278 beneficiaries entitled through disability rather than age, a county figure drawn from the same CMS enrollment file as the Original Medicare and Advantage split above. The booking process for a beneficiary in this group is identical to the process for anyone else on Medicare: the same card check, the same verification, the same arithmetic if the coverage is Original Medicare.
We do not ask why someone qualified for Medicare before 65, and nothing about that route changes how a session is booked or billed. It is simply one of the two paths into the program, alongside age, and both are treated the same way here. Whether the card shows Original Medicare or an Advantage plan, the same verification runs before booking, and the arithmetic that follows depends on that answer rather than on the beneficiary’s age.
The deductible and the coinsurance are frequently confused, and they work in genuinely different ways. The deductible is a threshold, a fixed dollar figure that must be cleared before Medicare’s share of anything begins. Coinsurance is not a threshold at all; it is an ongoing percentage applied to every visit for the rest of the year once that threshold has been crossed. A beneficiary who already met the Part B deductible earlier in the year through a routine physical or a lab test arrives at a first therapy session already past that threshold, with only the 20 percent applying. A beneficiary booking early in the calendar year, before any other Part B spending, is more likely to meet the deductible at that very first visit.
A Medicare card by itself says nothing about why someone books a first session, and it is worth naming plainly that a large share of beneficiaries are managing something well beyond the arithmetic on the card. A spouse’s declining health, a move into caregiving for a parent, or the adjustment of leaving full-time work all show up in a first session often enough to be worth mentioning here, without turning either the Original Medicare or the Advantage figure into a diagnosis of anyone reading it.
What the first session covers
Adults 18 and older across Brentwood come to Medicare through age, through disability, or as a caregiver helping a parent sort out coverage, and the reason for booking is rarely about the arithmetic itself. People come in for depression, anxiety, grief, and the adjustments covered by life transitions.
MindView has no office in Brentwood, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background behind it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against.
That structure is the same whether the visit is covered under Original Medicare’s fixed arithmetic or an Advantage plan’s own design, and the cost question is settled before the appointment either way, so it does not resurface once care actually begins.
Booking, and what to have with you
Book online; it takes about 30 seconds. Have your Medicare card ready, and note whether it says Original Medicare or names a specific Advantage plan, since that single detail determines which arithmetic applies to your visit.
We verify your specific coverage and state the per-session cost in writing before anything is scheduled. If you carry Original Medicare, that number follows the deductible-then-20-percent structure described above. If you carry an Advantage plan, we confirm network status first and tell you what that plan’s own cost sharing looks like once it is checked.
If you are booking on behalf of a parent or another family member, the same verification applies, and having their card in hand before you call speeds up the process considerably. From there a recurring weekly time gets set, with the cost already confirmed rather than something that turns up as a surprise on a later statement.
What Medicare covers here
- •Medicare is federal and applies the same way in every county. There is no geographic originating-site restriction for mental health telehealth, and the patient's home is a permitted site.
- •On Original Medicare, you meet the 2026 Part B annual deductible of $283 and then pay 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount.
- •We do not assume network status for a Medicare Advantage plan. We verify which card you carry before booking, every time.
- •Some beneficiaries qualify before age 65 through disability. The process is the same regardless of how you qualified.
- •You pay your share, never the difference between it and the full session fee.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
What does a therapy session cost on Medicare?
On Original Medicare, you meet the $283 Part B deductible for 2026 and then pay 20 percent of the approved amount. If you have supplemental coverage, it may pick up part of that 20 percent, and we confirm the full picture before booking rather than quoting the deductible alone.
I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Is that the same thing?
No. An Advantage plan sets its own network and its own cost sharing, separate from Original Medicare's rules. We do not assume network status for any Advantage plan. We verify which card you carry before booking, every time, rather than guess.
Does Medicare cover therapy done by video from home?
Yes. Medicare is federal and there is no geographic originating-site restriction for mental health telehealth. The patient's home is a permitted site, with no rural requirement and no clinic to travel to first.
Most people I know here are on regular Medicare. Is that typical?
For Suffolk County, yes. 231,787 of 328,741 beneficiaries, 70.5 percent, are in Original Medicare as of the 2025 CMS annual figures, a county-level number. The remaining 96,954 are on Advantage plans, and their cost arithmetic works differently, so we still verify rather than assume either way.
I am under 65 and on Medicare. Can I still book?
Yes. Suffolk County has 31,278 beneficiaries entitled through disability rather than age, a county figure. The process is the same regardless of how someone qualified. Adults 18 and older, by secure video.
