Why MindView
Most therapy in Brentwood has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Meritain Health. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Meritain Health in Brentwood, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network for Meritain Health members and sees Brentwood adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Meritain administers self-funded employer plans and rents the Aetna network, so your card says Meritain and the network printed underneath is Aetna's. Your employer set the cost sharing, so we look up your specific plan and give you the number before booking.
Suffolk County holds 55,878 separate establishments employing 689,858 people. When a benefit is designed by the employer rather than bought off a shelf, that number is the reason no honest answer to what a session costs can be published in advance. There are simply that many different plans in circulation, and yours has to be read rather than guessed.
Your card says Meritain and the network says Aetna
Yes. We are in-network for Meritain Health members, and Brentwood adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. The first thing worth settling is not whether we take the plan, but why the card looks the way it does: one name on the front, a different name printed underneath as the provider network.
That is not a printing mistake and it is not two separate coverages layered on top of each other. Meritain administers the claims for a plan your employer funds itself, and it rents the Aetna provider network to do it, rather than building a network of its own. For booking purposes the practical answer is simple regardless of which name you focus on: we are in-network either way, and neither name changes what we need from you to verify the benefit.
This two-name pattern trips people up often enough that it is worth naming directly rather than assuming it is obvious. Somebody scanning their card for “our insurance” reasonably looks for the biggest logo, which is usually Meritain’s, and reasonably assumes the smaller network name underneath is decoration. It is not. Both names are doing real work, and reading past the first one is often the difference between confirming coverage quickly and spending time on hold with a benefits line.
What a third-party administrator actually does
A third-party administrator processes claims, answers benefit questions, and manages the plan on behalf of the employer that is actually paying for care. The employer, not Meritain, decided what the plan covers, what the copay is, and how the deductible works. Meritain’s role is closer to a plan operator than an insurer in the retail sense, which is why it never appears as a product anyone shops for.
The Aetna network name underneath the Meritain logo tells you which providers count as in-network, since Meritain leases that network rather than assembling its own list of clinicians. It does not tell you anything about cost sharing, because network participation and benefit design are two separate questions answered by two different parties: Aetna sets who is in the network, and your employer sets what you pay to see them.
That split explains why two Meritain members can hear identical answers to “are you in-network” and completely different answers to “what will this cost me.” Network status depends on the leased Aetna list, which is the same for every Meritain member regardless of employer. Cost sharing depends on the employer’s plan design, which is not shared across employers at all. Confirming the first is quick. Confirming the second is the part that requires reading your specific plan.
55,878 employers, 55,878 possible answers
Suffolk County contains 55,878 establishments across every ownership type, employing 689,858 people, with 55,038 of those establishments in the private sector employing 580,232 people at an average annual pay of $81,119 across all ownerships. That is not a count of Meritain members. It is a count of the workplaces that exist in the county, and it says nothing whatsoever about how many of them use Meritain to administer a self-funded plan.
What it does establish is the scale of the problem a page like this one is built to solve. A third-party administrator card is a card whose terms were written by one of those tens of thousands of employers, and a published copay figure covering all of them would be fiction dressed up as fact. An establishment, in the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ terms, is a single workplace location rather than a company, so a single firm with several Suffolk County locations may appear more than once in that count, which is one more reason the number cannot be read as a headcount of distinct benefit designs.
None of it says how many of those 55,878 establishments chose to self-fund their health plan rather than buy a standard policy, and none of it says how many of the self-funded ones picked Meritain specifically as the administrator. Those are narrower questions than the establishment count can answer, and no source used here publishes them. What the figure supports is the general shape of the situation, not a specific claim about prevalence.
The three numbers that decide your cost
A copay is a flat amount owed per visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost that applies once a deductible is met. A deductible is what you pay yourself before the plan’s share of the cost begins. Your employer’s plan uses one of these structures or a combination, and because Meritain administers a self-funded design, that choice sits entirely with the employer rather than with any insurance company setting a market-wide rate.
On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary-care copay, but self-funded employer plans, the exact design Meritain administers, generally sit outside New York’s regulatory reach on this point. That is not a loophole so much as the ordinary result of federal law treating self-funded plans differently from state-regulated ones. It is also precisely why “your employer set it” is the more useful thing to lean on here than the state cap, and why we read your specific plan document rather than quote a rule that may not apply to it.
A deductible on a self-funded plan resets once a year, on whatever date the employer’s plan year begins, which is frequently not January 1. If yours has already been met through other medical costs by the time you book, coinsurance alone may apply from that point forward without an additional deductible stacked on top. We ask where you currently stand against it, since that single detail moves the final number more than any other part of the plan.
These three terms describe genuinely different mechanics, which is exactly why they get confused. A copay is fixed, unaffected by the size of the bill. Coinsurance moves with the bill, recalculated as a percentage every visit. A deductible is neither; it is a running threshold that must be crossed before either a copay or coinsurance rate applies at all. On a self-funded plan specifically, the employer set all three independently, so a plan can pair a low copay with a steep deductible or the reverse, and neither combination can be inferred from the fact that Meritain administers the claims.
For a first session, the practical consequence is direct: a session booked in the opening weeks of a new plan year is the one most likely to land against an unmet deductible, which is exactly why we ask before quoting a number.
Who books with a card like this
Adults 18 and older across Brentwood carry a Meritain card through their own job or a spouse’s, and the reason for booking is rarely about the administrator printed on the front. People come in for anxiety, burnout, everyday stress management, and relationship strain addressed through couples therapy.
With 55,878 separate establishments in Suffolk County writing that many different plans, a lot of Brentwood workers are at a small office where there is no dedicated HR line to call with any privacy from co-workers who sit a few feet away. Taking time out for a weekly session without anyone at work asking questions is often what stands in the way of booking, even when the reason for calling had nothing to do with the job itself.
55,878 Suffolk County establishments describes the number of employers writing plans, not any one workplace’s culture, and working at a small company is not itself a reason to delay therapy or a reason someone needs it.
MindView has no office in Brentwood, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. Spouses and dependents on the same employer plan typically carry an identical card, so one benefits check at the start covers the whole household rather than requiring a separate lookup for each person.
That household detail matters in practice more than it sounds like it should. A family where two adults work for different employers can hold two different self-funded plans at once, each administered differently even if both happen to say Meritain, and we check whichever card belongs to the person actually booking rather than assume a shared answer across the household.
None of this benefit-design detail is really the point of booking in the first place. A self-funded plan is simply a fact about how an employer chose to pay for care, and it says nothing about what actually brings someone to a first session. What it does affect is whether a weekly hour survives contact with a real work schedule, and a plan that came from a large employer often comes with a rigid one. A video session that can be moved when a shift runs late is what keeps therapy going once the benefit itself has already been sorted out.
From booking to the first session
Book online; it takes about 30 seconds. Have your Meritain card ready, along with the Aetna network name printed underneath it, since both details help us verify your specific plan quickly rather than guess from the logo alone.
We confirm your benefit and give you the per-session cost in writing before anything is scheduled. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background behind it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already settled.
What Meritain Health covers here
- •Meritain administers self-funded employer plans and rents the Aetna provider network, so your card says Meritain while the network printed underneath is Aetna's.
- •Because the benefit is designed by an employer rather than sold as a retail product, cost sharing varies widely between two people holding the same card.
- •You pay your plan's share, never the difference between it and the full session fee.
- •On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. That cap does not apply to a plan an employer funds itself, which is the design Meritain administers.
- •Meritain is not something anyone can shop for or enroll in directly. It arrives only through an employer that chose it.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Meritain Health questions
My card says Meritain but the network says Aetna. Which am I?
Both, and it is not an error. Meritain administers the plan your employer funds, and the provider network printed underneath is Aetna's. For booking purposes we are in-network for you either way. Bring the card exactly as printed, and we sort out the rest.
Why can you not tell me the copay from the card?
Because your employer wrote the cost sharing, not an insurer. Suffolk County holds 55,878 establishments, a county figure, which gives a sense of how many separate benefit decisions are in circulation here. That number says nothing about Meritain specifically, only about how many employers exist to write a plan.
Can I sign up for Meritain?
No. This coverage arrives through an employer that chose to fund its own plan and hired an administrator to run it. It is not sold, shopped, or enrolled in on your own, and there is no product to browse if you do not already have it through work.
Does New York's parity rule protect me?
On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary-care copay. That protection does not reach a plan an employer funds itself, and that is exactly the design Meritain administers. We check your specific plan rather than lean on the cap alone.
What actually happens at the first session?
An intake rather than treatment. What brought you in, the history that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures. You set a recurring weekly time before you finish. Adults 18 and older, by secure video.
