Why MindView

Most therapy in Brentwood has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take UnitedHealthcare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

UnitedHealthcare in Brentwood, in short

Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with UnitedHealthcare and sees Brentwood adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Suffolk is one of only fourteen New York counties where UnitedHealthcare sells an individual plan on the state marketplace, so two neighbors here can hold the same logo on very different terms. We check which one you have before you book.

Most of New York gets UnitedHealthcare exactly one way, through an employer. Suffolk County is one of fourteen counties that get it two ways, because the individual marketplace plan is sold here as well. The two routes are priced by completely different rules, so the amount you owe for a session depends less on the logo than on which of the two you are actually holding.

Two different UnitedHealthcare cards exist in Suffolk County

Across most of New York State, a UnitedHealthcare card means exactly one thing: your employer bought it. Suffolk County is different. It sits inside a small group of fourteen counties where a resident can also buy a UnitedHealthcare plan directly, through the state’s health insurance marketplace, without going through a job at all. Yes, we are in-network either way, and Brentwood adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State.

That fourteen-county fact matters because the two routes are priced by entirely different rules. An employer plan’s cost sharing was negotiated by a benefits department on behalf of a workforce. A marketplace plan’s cost sharing was chosen by the individual member, from a menu of metal-level options, each with its own deductible and premium tradeoff. Two Brentwood neighbors holding a card with the same logo can be on two structurally different products, and the logo alone will not tell you which.

Most of the state does not have to think about this at all. Outside the fourteen counties, a UnitedHealthcare card almost always means an employer plan, full stop, and the question of which route someone is on barely comes up. Suffolk sitting inside that smaller group is why the two-route question comes up here at all, and it is why the first thing worth settling is not whether we take the plan but which version of it you hold.

What 235,075 directly purchased policies mean for the cost question

Directly purchased coverage reaches 235,075 Suffolk County residents, 15.5 percent of the county, and 118,113 of those are aged 19 to 64, the working-age group most likely to book therapy. That is 12.9 percent of Suffolk residents in that age range, against 11.5 percent statewide, a modest gap rather than a dramatic one, and it is worth reporting plainly rather than dressed up.

That figure counts every directly purchased policy from any insurer, not UnitedHealthcare’s share of it specifically, and no source publishes that narrower number. What it establishes is that buying a plan yourself, rather than getting one at work, is a real and common situation in this county, more common than in most of the state. It is the population for whom the individual UnitedHealthcare marketplace option is a live choice rather than a theoretical one.

Suffolk County had 26,536 qualified health plan enrollees as of August 1, 2026, across every insurer selling on the marketplace there, a figure that spans every company on the exchange rather than UnitedHealthcare alone. It is dated because marketplace enrollment shifts through the year, most sharply around open enrollment, and a snapshot from one date should be read as exactly that.

Neither figure tells us how many of those 235,075 directly purchased policies, or how many of the 26,536 marketplace enrollees, actually carry the UnitedHealthcare name specifically. Both numbers describe the market as a whole, and the New York State of Health county file does not break enrollment out by which company sold each plan. What the two figures together establish is that buying coverage on your own, and choosing it through the marketplace, is genuinely common in Suffolk County rather than a rare exception.

A deductible you bought behaves differently from a copay you were given

A copay is a flat amount charged per visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost that applies once a deductible is met. A deductible is what you pay out of pocket before the plan’s share of the cost starts at all. Those definitions hold regardless of which route brought you to UnitedHealthcare, but the number behind each one does not.

On an employer plan, the deductible and copay were set once, by a company, for an entire group of employees, and an individual member has no say in adjusting them mid-year. On a marketplace plan, the member picked a metal tier, bronze through platinum, and that choice set the deductible directly: a lower monthly premium generally means a higher deductible to clear before the plan’s share kicks in, and that deductible resets at the start of the plan year rather than a date an employer chose.

That distinction is exactly why the amount owed at a February appointment can differ sharply from the amount owed in November, on a marketplace plan bought to save money up front. We ask which route applies to you and where you currently stand against the deductible, since both change the arithmetic more than the insurer’s name does.

An employer plan does not behave this way. Its deductible was already priced into the benefits package the company negotiated, and it resets on whatever date the employer set as the start of its plan year, which is frequently but not always January. The employer chose the tradeoff between premium and deductible on the employee’s behalf, where a marketplace shopper made that tradeoff themselves. Neither structure is better or worse; they are simply answered by different documents, and we read the one that applies to you rather than assuming either.

Which questions we ask before your first session

Before booking, we ask whether your plan came through work or through the marketplace, and either way we read the specific plan rather than infer an answer from the UnitedHealthcare name. On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary-care copay, though that protection reaches plans New York actually regulates and not every employer plan sold here qualifies.

We also confirm where a marketplace deductible currently stands, since a plan bought in January and used again in the same year behaves very differently once the deductible has already been met through other medical costs. None of this changes whether we take your plan. It changes only the number we can tell you before you book.

If your household includes one adult on an employer plan and another on a marketplace plan, we check whichever card belongs to the person actually booking. The two plans do not need to match, and there is no requirement that a couple share the same route into UnitedHealthcare just because they share a last name.

Who books with this card

Adults 18 and older across Brentwood reach UnitedHealthcare through a job, a spouse’s job, or a plan bought directly on the marketplace, and the reason for booking is rarely about the card itself. People come in for anxiety, depression, everyday stress management, the adjustments covered by life transitions, and relationship strain addressed through couples therapy.

Buying a UnitedHealthcare plan directly, the route 118,113 working-age Suffolk County residents took instead of going through a job, usually means picking a lower premium and a bigger deductible to make the monthly number work. Starting weekly sessions early in a new plan year, before that deductible is touched by anything else, often carries quiet stress and a fair amount of worry about the math, even when the deductible itself was never the reason they called.

118,113 working-age residents buying coverage directly describes how people in Suffolk County get insured, not which of them are tracking a deductible closely, and buying your own plan is not itself a reason to start or delay therapy.

MindView has no office in Brentwood, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against.

That structure does not change based on which route brought you to UnitedHealthcare. The cost question is answered before the appointment, so the visit itself is where the actual work starts rather than where a coverage surprise turns up.

Getting the first appointment on the calendar

Book online; it takes about 30 seconds. Have your card ready and note whether the plan came from work or from the marketplace, since that single detail is what determines which set of rules governs your cost.

We verify the benefit and state the per-session number in writing before anything is scheduled, deductible and coinsurance included. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already confirmed rather than discovered later on a statement.

What UnitedHealthcare covers here

  • •UnitedHealthcare reaches Suffolk County two ways, an employer plan or an individual marketplace plan, and Suffolk is one of only fourteen New York counties where the marketplace route exists at all.
  • •An employer plan's cost sharing was set by whoever bought it. A marketplace plan's deductible is set by the metal level chosen and resets at the plan year.
  • •You pay your plan's share, never the difference between it and the full session fee.
  • •On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. That cap does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself.
  • •Suffolk County had 26,536 qualified health plan enrollees as of August 1, 2026, across every insurer selling on the marketplace there, UnitedHealthcare included.

How to book with UnitedHealthcare

  1. 1

Have your UnitedHealthcare card ready, and note whether you bought your plan yourself or got it through work.

  2. 2

Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

We verify your specific plan and tell you the per-session cost, deductible included, before anything is scheduled.

  4. 4

Your first session is an intake, by secure video from anywhere in New York State.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

UnitedHealthcare questions

Do you take UnitedHealthcare if I bought my plan myself?

Yes. Suffolk is one of fourteen New York counties where the individual marketplace plan is sold at all, and most of the state has no such option. Both the employer route and the marketplace route are in-network for us. The difference between the two shows up in cost, not in access.

Why does my cost look nothing like my neighbor's?

One of you is probably on an employer plan and the other on a plan bought through the state marketplace, and different rules set the deductible and the copay on each. Directly purchased coverage reaches 235,075 Suffolk County residents, a county figure, including 118,113 aged 19 to 64, so both situations are genuinely common here.

What is a deductible, in plain terms?

The amount you pay yourself before the plan starts paying its share. On a plan you bought on the marketplace, it resets at the start of your plan year, which is why the same session can cost different amounts in different months depending on where you stand against it.

Does New York law cap what I pay for therapy?

On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary-care copay. That does not apply to coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself, which is one of the things we check for your specific plan before booking.

Is there a UnitedHealthcare therapist office in Brentwood?

No, and no office anywhere that clients are seen. Every Brentwood session is by secure video with a New York-licensed clinician, from anywhere in the state. Adults 18 and older.
