Why MindView
Most therapy in Batavia has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Univera Healthcare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Univera Healthcare in Batavia, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Univera Healthcare and sees Batavia adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Genesee is one of the eight Western New York counties this plan serves. Univera is a New York-regulated plan, so on a policy of that kind your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay, though that rule does not reach a plan an employer funds itself. We verify your plan before booking.
Private health care and social assistance is 2,950 jobs across 115 worksites in Genesee County, 16.3 percent of the county's private payroll. A lot of the people reading this already know how a claim works, which makes one thing worth saying plainly: the general rule is never your plan, and the document that answers your question was written for you rather than for the industry.
Genesee is one of the eight counties
Univera Healthcare’s Western New York service area covers eight counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. Genesee County sits inside that boundary, so a Univera card issued through a Genesee County employer works the same way it would anywhere else in that territory.
MindView is in-network with Univera Healthcare, and every Genesee County session runs by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. The card itself does not change based on which of the eight counties it was issued in, and neither does how a session gets booked here.
A card that reads Univera is not automatically the same thing as a plan sold on the individual market or through every employer in the region. Some Genesee County employers offer it, others do not, and the county boundary describes where the network operates rather than who specifically carries the card. What stays constant is that wherever a Genesee County member holds one, MindView can check it the same way.
Knowing the system and knowing your plan
Private health care and social assistance work is the largest private sector in Genesee County after manufacturing, which means a lot of the people reading a page like this one already spend their working hours inside claims, authorizations and network rules. That knowledge is real, and it is also not the same thing as knowing what a Univera plan pays toward a therapy session.
Plan design is set per employer and per policy, not by the industry someone works in. Two Genesee County residents can hold the same Univera card through different employers and land on different copays, different coinsurance percentages, and different deductibles. Understanding how prior authorization works in general does not tell you what your own plan requires, because that detail lives in a document specific to the employer that set it up, not in the general shape of how insurance works.
That gap is worth naming plainly rather than talked around. A person who spends their working hours explaining coverage to someone else can still be unsure what their own therapy visit will cost, for the same reason a person who understands how a car engine works can still be unsure what a specific repair bill will say. The system knowledge and the plan-specific number are two different things, and only one of them is something we can look up for you.
Rather than repeating an explanation of how insurance works in general, which a health care worker in this county likely already knows better than most people who ask, MindView looks up the specific plan and reports back a number. The document that answers the question was written for the member holding the card, not for the industry that processes the claim behind it. Booking does not require sorting that out in advance; it is the first thing checked once you book.
2,950 jobs looking after other people
Genesee County’s private health care and social assistance sector carried 2,950 jobs across 115 worksites in 2025, averaging $56,271 a year in pay. That is 16.3 percent of the county’s 18,052 private jobs, the largest private share after manufacturing.
That figure describes where the county’s jobs are located. It is not a count of who holds a Univera card, and it says nothing about which specific employer, agency or facility any one person works for. Payroll data spread across 115 worksites does not resolve down to an individual workplace, and it is not meant to.
What the number does establish is that care work, in the aggregate sense the payroll data captures, is a genuinely large part of how people in this county earn a living. It is a statement about where jobs sit on a county employment table, not a statement about the county itself or about anyone reading this in particular.
The advice you would give someone else
In a county where health care and social assistance work accounts for 16.3 percent of the private payroll, a familiar pattern sits alongside the reason for calling without being the stated reason itself: people used to caregiving for other people tend to arrive at a first session later than they would have told anyone else to. It is a version of the same instinct behind burnout in caregiving work generally, built from having watched harder situations than most, and it is not a diagnosis or a description of any one person’s condition.
Practically, it usually just means a first session has more ground to cover than it would have if it had started six months earlier, because the waiting itself becomes part of what needs to be talked through. None of this says anything about whether any individual reading this fits the pattern.
Booking does not require deciding in advance that things have gotten bad enough. People come to a first session for burnout, for the particular strain of caregiver burnout, or for something that has not settled into a clear name yet, and the intake is where that gets sorted out rather than a requirement to sort it out first.
What the New York rule covers and what it misses
Univera is a New York-regulated plan, which means the state’s cost-sharing parity rule reaches it: your therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary-care copay. That protection is real and it is worth knowing, but it has a limit. It does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or chooses to fund itself, so the same card name does not guarantee the same rule applies.
A copay is a flat amount you owe per visit, set in advance regardless of what the session costs overall. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost you owe instead of a flat number, so it can vary session to session. A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket before your plan starts covering its share at all, and once it is met, your copay or coinsurance takes over. You pay whichever of these your plan design uses, and never the difference between that and the full session fee.
Because the parity rule depends on how a specific plan is regulated and funded, we confirm which kind of plan is behind your card rather than assuming the general rule applies. Two employers can both hand an employee a Univera card and still land on different funding arrangements underneath it, which is exactly the distinction that determines whether the parity rule reaches that particular plan. That check happens before a session is scheduled, not after a bill arrives, and it is the same check regardless of what you already know about how the rule is supposed to work.
Booking a first session
Adults 18 and older across Genesee County reach MindView the same way regardless of which of the eight Univera counties their card was issued in. People book for anxiety, depression, difficulty holding boundaries, general burnout, or a concern that does not fit neatly into any of those categories yet.
Have your Univera Healthcare member ID card ready and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify your specific plan and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled, so the number is known ahead of time rather than discovered on a statement afterward.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, and what you want different, with a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already settled rather than an open question hanging over the next several sessions.
There is no requirement to have your situation fully sorted out before that first conversation, and no requirement to already understand your own plan’s rules going in. See the Batavia coverage page for the full list of plans accepted here, part of MindView’s statewide New York coverage.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Univera Healthcare questions
I work in health care. Do I still need a benefits check?
Yes, and knowing the system does not shorten it. Plan design is set per employer and per policy, so your own copay, coinsurance and deductible have to be looked up specifically rather than assumed from general knowledge of how claims work. We do that and give you the number before you book.
Does the New York copay rule apply to my Univera plan?
Univera is a New York-regulated plan, so on a policy of that kind your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. The rule does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself, so we confirm which kind of plan you hold before quoting a number.
Health care is 16.3 percent of Genesee County's private jobs. Why does that matter here?
Because it means a meaningful share of the people reading this already handle claims and networks for a living, and the most useful thing to say to them is the thing they would tell someone else - the general rule is not your plan. Your own document is the one that answers your question.
I keep putting off booking. Is that unusual?
No, and it is a pattern seen often among people whose work is looking after others. Nothing about a first session requires you to have reached a particular point first. It is an intake, and its job is to work out what is going on and what you want different.
Learn about caregiver burnoutDoes MindView have a Batavia office?
No. Every Batavia session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
