Why MindView
Most therapy in Batavia has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take UnitedHealthcare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

UnitedHealthcare in Batavia, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with UnitedHealthcare and sees Batavia adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. In Genesee County a UnitedHealthcare card comes through an employer, because the individual marketplace version of this plan is sold in fourteen downstate counties and Genesee is not one of them. What you owe depends on two running totals your plan keeps, a deductible and an out-of-pocket maximum. We check both and tell you the per-session number before anything is scheduled.
Manufacturing is the largest well-paid private sector in Genesee County, 3,179 jobs across 86 worksites at an average annual pay of $73,291 against $59,496 across all jobs in the county. For someone holding a UnitedHealthcare card through a job like that, the benefit is usually the settled part. The hour is the part that takes work, and so does knowing which of your plan's two running totals is deciding what today costs.
The two numbers your plan is counting
A UnitedHealthcare plan is not running one meter, it is running two. The first is a deductible, the amount you pay out of pocket before certain benefits shift to a copay or coinsurance. The second is an out-of-pocket maximum, a hard ceiling on what the plan can ever charge you across a full plan year, medical and mental health combined.
These two counters move at different speeds and reset on different logic. A session in January can cost more than the identical session in November, on the identical plan, because one of those two numbers has climbed closer to its ceiling. Neither counter is visible from the name printed on your card.
That is the reason a flat answer to “what does therapy cost on UnitedHealthcare” does not exist. It depends on where you sit on both counters right now, which is exactly what we check before we schedule anything.
Weekly therapy interacts with both counters differently than an occasional medical visit does. A once-a-year procedure moves a deductible in a single jump. A weekly session moves it in small, regular steps, which means the answer to “what will this cost” can genuinely change between your third session and your fifteenth, on the same plan, without your coverage changing at all.
What a plant shift does to a weekly hour
Manufacturing is Genesee County’s largest well-paid private sector: 3,179 jobs across 86 worksites, averaging $73,291 a year against $59,496 across all jobs in the county. That is a fact about where the county’s private payroll sits, not a claim about who holds a UnitedHealthcare card. A card comes from an employer’s plan design, not from an industry, and we have no figure connecting the two.
In a county where manufacturing holds 17.6 percent of the private payroll, that kind of work shares one structural trait: a fixed shift, and a fixed shift is exactly what makes a standing weekly appointment easier to protect than a schedule that rotates. The harder moment comes when the shift itself changes, because a standing weekly appointment then has to be reset on purpose or it quietly stops being rescheduled at all, and that kind of disruption can sit alongside the reason someone books without being the stated reason for calling. None of this describes any one manufacturing worker’s reason for calling specifically, and it is not a claim about who in Genesee County holds a UnitedHealthcare card.
Therapy works through repetition more than through any single session, so the hardest practical part of starting is rarely the first hour. It is protecting the same hour, every week, for months, which a fixed shift makes easier to defend than a rotating one because the same block is free every week rather than free some weeks and gone others.
Deductible, copay, coinsurance, in plain words
A copay is a flat amount you pay per session, set by your plan, unaffected by whether you have met your deductible. A coinsurance is a percentage of the plan’s allowed amount for the session, so it moves as that allowed amount moves. A deductible is the dollar total you pay out of pocket, across covered services generally, before certain benefits activate at their copay or coinsurance rate.
Under New York State’s cost-sharing parity rule, a New York-regulated plan cannot set your therapy copay higher than your primary care copay. That protection applies to fully insured, state-regulated plans. It does not reach every UnitedHealthcare plan design, since some employer coverage is written outside New York’s regulatory reach or self-funded by the employer, so we confirm whether it applies to your specific plan rather than assuming it does.
The behavioral health side of most UnitedHealthcare coverage runs through Optum, which is worth knowing only because it can appear on paperwork or an ID card under that name. It changes nothing about what you do next. We verify the plan and quote the number either way.
These three terms usually apply in sequence rather than all at once. Early in a plan year, before the deductible is satisfied, a session is typically billed at the plan’s allowed amount out of pocket. Once the deductible is met, a copay or coinsurance takes over for the rest of the year, and that rate is almost always lower than what an unmet deductible was charging. Knowing which stage you are in in advance is the difference between a number that surprises you and one that does not.
Why the same card costs less in October
Because the out-of-pocket maximum only moves in one direction inside a plan year, a member who has paid toward it all year is closer to the ceiling by autumn than they were in January. Weekly therapy, attended consistently, is one of the more reliable ways a deductible gets satisfied and an out-of-pocket total climbs, simply because it recurs on a predictable schedule rather than arriving as one large claim.
That means the same UnitedHealthcare card, on the same plan, can genuinely owe less per session later in the plan year than it did at the start, once the deductible is met or the out-of-pocket maximum is close. Nothing about the plan changed. Only the running total did.
We do not assume where you sit on either counter. We check it before your first session and again if your plan year turns over, since most reset on a fixed date that is not always January 1st.
A plan year reset is worth planning around rather than being surprised by. Someone who starts weekly sessions in October, close to a plan’s reset date, can see their cost jump the following January when both counters return to zero, even though nothing about their coverage changed. We flag that timing when it applies to you, so a course of weekly work does not run into an unexpected reset without warning.
Who books here
Batavia adults 18 and older book here holding a UnitedHealthcare card through a Genesee County workplace, since there is no individually purchased version of this plan sold in the county. People come in carrying work-related counseling concerns, ordinary stress management, anxiety, depression, and sleep problems that do not always arrive labeled as the reason for calling.
MindView has no Batavia office. Every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State, reachable the same way whether you are in Batavia or anywhere else in the state. See the Batavia location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of statewide coverage across New York.
You do not need a diagnosis in hand to book, and you do not need to already know which of the two counters your plan is running on. That is what we check.
Setting the first hour
Have your UnitedHealthcare card ready and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify your specific plan, check where you stand on your deductible and your out-of-pocket maximum, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is confirmed.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background behind it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. Before you finish, you set a recurring weekly time, the same block every week, which is the part that carries most of a course of work forward once the cost question is settled.
What UnitedHealthcare covers here
- •A UnitedHealthcare plan tracks two running totals at once: a deductible, which resets what early sessions cost, and an out-of-pocket maximum, which caps what the plan can ever charge you in a plan year.
- •In Genesee County a UnitedHealthcare card comes through a workplace. The individual marketplace version of this plan is sold in fourteen downstate counties, and Genesee is not one of them.
- •Optum is the behavioral health network printed behind most UnitedHealthcare cards. It is a fact about your card, not something you need to act on.
- •Copay, coinsurance and deductible are three different math problems, and we explain plainly which one applies to your plan before you book.
- •We verify your specific plan and give you the per-session number in advance. You are never billed a surprise difference.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

UnitedHealthcare questions
I work a fixed shift at a plant. Can a weekly session actually fit around that?
Yes, and the fixed part helps more than it might seem. We set a recurring weekly time that sits outside your shift and hold it there. If your shift changes, we move the standing slot deliberately rather than letting it quietly lapse, which is usually the moment a course of weekly sessions stalls.
Work-related counselingDoes the deductible have to be met before therapy is covered?
On some UnitedHealthcare plan designs, yes. On others, no. A copay design charges a flat amount from your first session. A deductible design charges the plan's allowed amount out of pocket until the deductible is met, then a copay or coinsurance takes over. We check which one your plan uses before you book.
What is an out-of-pocket maximum, and does it ever help someone in weekly therapy?
It is the ceiling on what your plan can charge you in a plan year. Once you reach it, the plan covers the rest for that year. Weekly sessions are one of the few costs that reliably move a member toward that ceiling, which is why the same card often costs less later in a plan year than it did at the start.
Can I buy a UnitedHealthcare plan myself in Genesee County?
No. The individual marketplace version of this plan is sold in fourteen downstate New York counties, and Genesee County is not one of them. In Genesee County a UnitedHealthcare card comes through a workplace, either your own or a family member's.
Does MindView have a Batavia office?
No. Every Batavia session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo, and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
