Why MindView

Most therapy in Batavia has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Cigna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Cigna in Batavia, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Cigna and sees Batavia adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Cigna has no New York network of its own, and Genesee County sits outside the twenty-eight counties carrying New York-situs Cigna group business, so a Cigna card here comes from a national employer plan the employer funds itself. New York's cost-sharing rules may not reach it. We confirm which kind of plan you hold and give you the per-session number before booking.

The whole individual insurance market in Genesee County is 803 people, and Cigna is not one of the plans sold into it. That narrows things usefully. If you hold a Cigna card in Batavia it came through a workplace, on a plan your employer funds, and knowing that tells you which rules apply to your cost and which ones do not.

One route into Genesee County

Cigna sells no plan of its own into New York. The group business it writes for New York employers runs on a twenty-eight-county network, and GENESEE COUNTY is not one of the twenty-eight. That is not a gap in what Cigna offers here, it is the whole picture: there is no locally sold Cigna plan for a Genesee County resident to shop for, in Batavia or anywhere else in the county.

What is left is a national self-funded plan, one a company sets up and pays claims on directly rather than buying coverage off a New York shelf. An employer with locations in several states can offer the same Cigna plan to every worker regardless of which state they sit in, which is how a Cigna card reaches Batavia even though no New York-situs Cigna plan does. If you carry one, it almost certainly arrived this way, through a job rather than a purchase.

That distinction is not a technicality. A plan sold in New York is written to New York’s rules from the start. A plan an employer funds itself is written to whatever the employer and its plan administrator chose, and it may or may not adopt New York’s protections voluntarily.

Neither arrangement changes whether we can bill Cigna. It changes what we have to check before telling you what a session costs.

An individual market of 803 people

The number that makes this concrete is small enough to state plainly. As of August 1, 2026, the entire qualified health plan market in GENESEE COUNTY is 803 people, 522 of them in standard plans and 281 in non-standard plans. That is the full count of county residents who bought individual coverage on New York’s exchange, across every issuer that sells there, not a Cigna figure specifically.

Cigna is not one of the issuers selling into that market. Put the two facts together and the picture narrows: nobody in Genesee County is buying a Cigna plan on the exchange, because there is not one to buy, and only 803 people countywide are buying any individual plan at all. A Cigna card in Batavia was not shopped for the way a marketplace plan is. It was issued through work.

The 803 figure does not say anything about how many Genesee County residents carry a Cigna plan specifically, since it is an exchange total across every issuer and Cigna sells no exchange plan here at all. What it does establish is the size of the alternative: buying coverage on your own is the exception in this county, not the norm, which is the context a Cigna card in Batavia sits inside.

What a self-funded plan means for your protections

New York has a rule worth knowing regardless of which plan you hold: on a New York-regulated plan, your therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary-care copay. It is a real protection, and it applies automatically to plans New York regulates.

A national self-funded plan is usually not one of those. When an employer funds its own claims rather than buying a New York-regulated policy, the plan can sit outside New York’s cost-sharing rule entirely, along with a number of other state-level protections. That does not mean your specific plan skips it.

It means the rule is not guaranteed the way it would be on a policy bought in New York, so it has to be checked rather than assumed. We look at your plan directly and tell you which rules actually apply before you book, instead of promising a protection that may or may not reach your card.

Some national employer plans adopt New York-style protections anyway, because a company chose to design the benefit that way or because a plan administrator applies a consistent set of rules across every state it operates in. Others do not, and follow only the federal floor. Both are common enough that the plan document is the only reliable source, not the logo on the card and not the state where the employee happens to live.

The calendar someone else set

In Genesee County, where only 803 people countywide hold an individual plan, waiting for a fresh deductible before booking a first session is a way of putting it off that travels alongside the actual worry someone is carrying, and is rarely the reason itself. The plan year on a Cigna card in Batavia was set by an employer’s contract, not by the person holding it, and none of that changes whether the work is worth starting. The barrier is timing invented by a calendar nobody chose, not a fact about whether this is the right month to book a session.

It is common to put off a first session for a better month, a fresh deductible, a cleaner start once the numbers reset. That instinct is reasonable and we are not here to argue you out of it. But it is worth separating what a reset actually changes from what it does not: the counting starts over, the deductible resets, the running total of what you have paid goes back to zero.

The work itself, and whether it is worth starting, does not depend on that date at all. We can tell you what your plan owes right now and what changes when the year turns over, so the decision gets made on readiness rather than on a calendar that was never yours to set.

Copay, coinsurance, deductible

Three terms are worth knowing plainly before you book. A copay is a flat amount you owe per session, set by your plan. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost you owe instead of a flat amount, more common once a deductible is met. A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket before your plan starts sharing the cost at all, and it resets on your plan year, not the calendar year, unless your employer set it up that way.

None of these numbers can be read off the word “Cigna” alone, because a self-funded plan is designed by the employer holding it, not sold as a fixed product. Two Batavia households carrying the same Cigna logo can land on different copays, different coinsurance percentages, and different deductible amounts, depending on what their employer chose when the plan was built. That is exactly why we check your specific plan rather than quoting a number that would only be right by accident.

Booking a first session

Adults in Batavia carrying a Cigna card come to therapy for the same range of reasons anyone does, anxiety and depression among the most common, along with stress management, work-related counseling, and support through a life transition. You do not need a diagnosis in hand to book, and you do not need to have already sorted out your plan’s rules yourself.

Have your Cigna member ID card ready and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify whether your plan is New York-regulated or employer self-funded, confirm what that means for your cost sharing, and give you the per-session number before anything is scheduled. MindView has no office in Batavia, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, part of our statewide New York coverage.

Your first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background behind it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already settled ahead of it rather than arriving as a surprise on a statement.

What Cigna covers here

  • •Cigna has no New York network of its own here. Genesee County sits outside the twenty-eight counties that carry New York-situs Cigna group business, so the only route in is a national plan your employer funds itself.
  • •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible instead of the full session fee. You are never billed the difference.
  • •New York's rule that a therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay applies to New York-regulated plans. It does not automatically reach coverage an employer funds itself or buys outside New York.
  • •Genesee County's entire qualified health plan market is 803 people, and Cigna is not among the issuers selling into it, so a Cigna card here did not come from an individual purchase.
  • •We verify which kind of plan you hold and give you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Cigna questions

Can I buy a Cigna plan for myself in Genesee County?

No. Cigna has no New York network of its own, and Genesee County sits outside the twenty-eight counties that carry New York-situs Cigna group business. Here the only route is a national plan an employer funds itself, so a Cigna card in Batavia came through a workplace rather than a purchase.

Why doesn't New York's copay rule automatically protect me?

Because it reaches New York-regulated plans, and a plan your employer funds itself or buys outside New York sits outside it. On a New York-regulated plan your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. We confirm which kind of plan you hold rather than promising either way, before you book.

Only 803 people in the whole county buy their own coverage. What does that tell me?

That in Genesee County, coverage almost always arrives through a workplace rather than a purchase, which means the plan year, the deductible reset, and the cost sharing were set by an employer, not chosen off a shelf. It says nothing about anyone's income or circumstances, only where the decision was made.

Should I wait until my plan year resets to start therapy?

That is your decision, and we will not push it either way. A plan year reset changes the counting, deductibles and out-of-pocket totals starting over, not whether the work is worth starting. We tell you what your plan owes now and what changes at the reset, so the timing question gets a number instead of a guess.

Does MindView have a Batavia office?

No. Every Batavia session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo, and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
