Why MindView
Most therapy in Glen Cove has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Oscar Health. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Oscar Health in Glen Cove, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Oscar Health and sees Glen Cove adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Oscar is an individual plan you buy for yourself on NY State of Health, with no employer route at all. What you owe depends on the metal tier you chose, so we confirm where you stand against the deductible before you book rather than after a statement arrives.
Having a job in Glen Cove does not reliably mean having coverage. Of 12,637 employed residents, 1,586 have no health insurance at all, which is 12.6 percent against 6.3 percent among employed New Yorkers statewide. That is roughly double, and it is the exact situation an individual plan exists for, because it is bought by the person rather than offered by the workplace.
Working and uninsured at the same time
Yes. MindView is in-network with Oscar Health, and Glen Cove adults are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. Having a job in Glen Cove does not reliably mean having coverage. Of 12,637 employed residents, 1,586 have no health insurance at all, 12.6 percent, against 6.3 percent among employed New Yorkers statewide, roughly double the surrounding rate. For context, 9,187 employed Glen Cove residents, 72.7 percent, hold private coverage of some kind.
The paragraphs below are written for the reader in that gap specifically, someone working and still uninsured, because that is exactly the situation an individual plan exists to close. Employment and coverage come apart here more often than the state average would predict, and an individual plan bought directly is the route that does not wait on an employer to offer one, or on an employer to offer it in the first place.
The plan you can go and get yourself
Oscar is different from most of the plans covered elsewhere on this site in one specific way: it is the only one a reader can go and get on their own, bought directly on NY State of Health rather than arriving through a job. There has been no employer group route for Oscar since it exited that market at the end of 2024, and there is no version of Oscar coverage that comes bundled with employment here or anywhere else in New York.
If a reader already carries an Oscar plan, most of what follows still applies, since the arithmetic of a metal tier and a deductible does not change once a plan is purchased. But the framing throughout leans toward someone still deciding, because that reader has a genuinely different set of questions than someone confirming an existing employer benefit.
12.6 percent, and the limit of what it proves
For someone who has gone without coverage, waiting matters as much as cost. Putting off calling until coverage is finally in place is common, and worry about affording care can stretch on for months before anyone ever picks up the phone. By the time a first session happens, an intake often has more to cover than it would have earlier, not because anything is wrong with the person, but because waiting itself adds up. That backlog is often what someone actually carries into a first session, well before a clinician has said a word. A first session in that situation tends to run longer than a routine check-in, simply because there is more to say and less practice saying it out loud.
An uninsured rate is a coverage-access pattern, not a statement about income, health, or need, and we are not reading it as anything more than that. What it establishes is that the population Oscar is actually built for, people without an employer plan, is not a small or hypothetical group in this city.
We also cannot say how many of the 1,586 uninsured working Glen Cove residents would end up choosing an Oscar plan specifically rather than another marketplace carrier, and we are not going to guess at that either. What the figure supports is only that the individual marketplace, as a category, matters to a meaningful number of people who are working full time in this specific city, not a claim about which carrier any of them would pick.
Metal tiers, and what a lower premium usually costs
Marketplace plans, Oscar included, are sold in metal tiers, and the general pattern across tiers is that a lower monthly premium usually pairs with a higher deductible, while a higher premium usually pairs with a lower one. Neither is objectively better. They are two different ways of spreading the same total cost across the year.
We are not going to publish specific premium or deductible figures here, because they change by plan year and by the exact plan chosen, and a number accurate last year could mislead this year. What matters for planning is understanding the tradeoff itself, and knowing which side of it a specific plan lands on. Most Oscar plans also carry an out-of-pocket maximum for the plan year, a ceiling past which the plan pays remaining covered costs in full.
A copay is a flat dollar amount charged per visit, the same regardless of the tier. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost, charged once the deductible is met, so the dollar amount moves with the visit rather than staying fixed. Which of the three governs a specific reader’s session first depends entirely on the tier chosen at enrollment, not on anything Oscar decides case by case.
A deductible is dollars, not visits
A deductible is a running dollar total paid before the plan starts sharing the cost, and it resets once a year, not after a fixed number of visits. This distinction matters more on an individual marketplace plan than on many employer plans, because individual plans more often lead with the deductible before any cost sharing kicks in.
People confuse a deductible with a copay constantly, and it is worth being explicit about why. A copay is a flat number that never moves. A deductible is a threshold, and until a plan year’s deductible is crossed, there is no coinsurance percentage to apply yet either, only the full allowed cost. That means the first several sessions of a plan year, on a high-deductible tier especially, can look different in cost than sessions later in the same year, even though nothing about the care itself has changed.
What a course of weekly sessions looks like on paper
Weekly therapy adds up differently depending on where in the deductible a reader starts. A course of sessions beginning before the deductible is met carries a different early cost than the same course would if it started after the deductible was already satisfied through other medical care earlier in the year.
This is not a reason to delay starting. It is a reason to know the number ahead of time rather than discover it session by session. We check a specific plan and its deductible position as part of the same verification we run before any booking, so the arithmetic is settled before the first appointment rather than worked out afterward.
None of this arithmetic is unique to therapy. It is how a marketplace deductible interacts with any recurring covered service, whether that is weekly therapy or a monthly prescription refill. What makes it worth spelling out here is that weekly therapy makes the pattern especially visible, since the same service repeats often enough for the deductible’s position to actually matter from one week to the next.
Booking while your plan year is still new
Adults 18 and older across Glen Cove reach MindView on an Oscar Health plan bought for themselves. People come in for anxiety, depression, panic disorder, everyday stress management, and life transitions.
MindView has no office in Glen Cove, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the Glen Cove location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of MindView’s statewide New York coverage.
Nobody needs to already have an Oscar plan to reach out and ask questions. If a decision about enrolling is still pending during an open or special enrollment period, we can still talk through how the coverage would work once it is made.
Have your Oscar Health member ID card ready, and note which metal tier your plan is. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify where you stand against your deductible and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. A recurring weekly time gets set before the session ends, with the cost already confirmed rather than left to be discovered on a later statement.
What Oscar Health covers here
- •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible instead of the full session fee. You are never billed the difference.
- •Oscar is an individual marketplace plan bought directly on NY State of Health. There is no employer group route for Oscar.
- •A lower monthly premium usually pairs with a larger deductible, and a deductible is met in dollars, not in number of visits.
- •Your plan year, and the deductible tied to it, resets on January 1, so the same session can cost differently early in the year than late in it.
- •We verify your specific plan and confirm the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Oscar Health questions
Can I get an Oscar plan through my job?
No. Oscar has no employer route at all. It is bought for yourself on NY State of Health, the New York marketplace, and has not offered a small-group option since exiting that market at the end of 2024. If you have coverage through a job, it is a different carrier, and we can still check whatever card you hold before your first session.
I work full time and still have no coverage. Is that unusual here?
It is more common than the citywide picture might suggest. 1,586 of 12,637 employed Glen Cove residents are uninsured, 12.6 percent, against 6.3 percent among employed New Yorkers statewide, roughly double the state rate. That gap describes how coverage is distributed here, not anything about the people themselves.
I chose a lower premium. Why is my first session more expensive?
Because a lower premium usually pairs with a larger deductible, and a deductible is met in dollars before the plan starts sharing cost. Early sessions on a high-deductible tier can cost more out of pocket than later ones on the same plan, once the deductible has been satisfied through other care during the year. No specific figure can be published, since it varies by plan.
Does the cost change in January?
Yes. The plan year resets on January 1 regardless of when you actually enrolled, and the dollars you paid toward your deductible do not carry forward into the new year. A session in early January can cost more than the same session in November on the identical plan. We tell you exactly where you stand before you book.
Does MindView have a Glen Cove office?
No. Every Glen Cove session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State, from anywhere inside it. MindView's offices are in Queens and Buffalo, named as offices rather than places where Glen Cove clients are seen in person.
