Why MindView
Most therapy in Corning has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Aetna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Aetna in Corning, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Aetna and sees Corning adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Aetna sells no individual plan in New York, so an Aetna card here came through a job, a spouse's job, or a parent's plan. What you owe depends on three things: whether the plan uses a copay or a deductible design, how much deductible you have met, and whether the plan is New York-regulated. We settle all three before booking.
4,479 of 6,835 working-age Corning city residents hold coverage through a job, 65.5 percent against 61.2 percent across New York State. Aetna's only New York route is that door and here it is a wide one. A wide audience is a reason to get more specific rather than less, so what follows is the three questions that actually decide what a session costs.
Aetna has one door in New York
Aetna sells no individual plan anywhere in New York State. Every Aetna card that shows up here arrived through an employer: a job, a spouse’s job, or a parent’s plan while a dependent still qualifies. That single route is why the useful question is not whether Aetna is available, but what your specific employer built on top of it.
We are in-network with Aetna and see Corning adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. The plan behind your card was built by an employer’s benefits department rather than shopped off a shelf, which is exactly why one Aetna card can behave differently from the next one.
A dependent’s coverage works the same way. A young adult on a parent’s Aetna plan, or a spouse added during open enrollment, holds the same card and the same in-network status as the employee who signed up for it. The plan design underneath, copay or deductible, regulated or not, still belongs to whoever’s employer wrote it, so we ask the same three questions no matter whose name is on the paycheck.
The three questions that decide the cost
Three things decide what you actually owe for a session, and none of them is the name printed on the front of the card. Whether the plan uses a copay design or a deductible design. How much of any deductible has already been met this plan year. And whether the plan is regulated by New York State, or funded by the employer itself outside that system.
We check all three before you book, so the number you hear is the number that applies to your plan rather than an average built from someone else’s. That holds whether this is your first time using the benefit or your fifth year on the same employer’s plan.
Copay design or deductible design
A copay is a flat amount, set by your plan, that you pay at the time of a session. It does not move month to month, and it does not depend on what else has happened on the plan this year.
A deductible design works differently. You pay the full negotiated session rate until you have paid a set dollar amount for the year, and after that a coinsurance percentage of the rate usually applies instead of a flat number. Some plans combine the two, a deductible for certain services and a copay for others.
Whichever design your plan uses, you pay your plan’s share and never the difference between that and the full session fee. That protection holds regardless of which of the two designs your employer chose.
Coinsurance is the percentage you owe of the negotiated rate once a deductible design applies, commonly a set share of the visit cost rather than a flat number. It moves with the rate itself, so it can look slightly different from one billing cycle to the next even when the percentage on the plan document never changes. Knowing which of the two designs applies before a first visit is the difference between an expected number and a surprise one.
Whether the plan is New York-regulated
On plans regulated by New York State, your therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary care copay. It is a real consumer protection, and it is worth knowing about before you assume your benefit works one way or the other.
It does not reach every Aetna plan, though. An employer that buys coverage outside New York’s regulated market, or that funds its own plan and only rents Aetna’s provider network, is not bound by that rule. Two coworkers can hold the same Aetna card and answer this question differently depending on how their employer built the plan.
That is the reason we check rather than promise a number up front. The regulatory status of a plan is not printed anywhere obvious on a member card, and guessing wrong is worse than asking.
Larger employers are more likely to fund their own plan and rent Aetna’s provider network for claims processing, which is one of the more common reasons a plan falls outside New York’s regulated rules. That does not make the coverage worse, only different in how a small number of protections apply. It is a detail about the employer’s plan design, not about whether you can be seen, and it is one more reason we confirm rather than assume.
Making it somebody else’s errand
4,479 of 6,835 working-age Corning city residents, 65.5 percent, hold employer-based coverage, above the 61.2 percent statewide, and when coverage is that widespread the reason someone books a first session is rarely about affording it at all. What actually gets in the way of booking is the sense that sorting out the plan will turn into an exhausting administrative project on top of everything else, a feeling that sits alongside the reason someone books without being the stated reason for calling. Naming the three questions above, and answering all three before you pick a time, turns that open-ended errand into a task somebody else has already done. For a person who is tired, that carries into a first session as something more than a small difference.
That is the practical reason the three questions above exist as a checklist rather than as background reading. We ask about plan design, deductible status, and regulatory status at the start of booking, not after a first session, so nothing about your Aetna benefit is left for you to sort out on your own time. What we hand back is a single number and a booking link, not a set of terms to research on your own.
None of this is a claim about why any particular person in Corning has or has not started therapy. It is a description of what a widespread benefit changes about the shape of the barrier, not a statement about who carries the card or what they need.
Booking a first session
Have your Aetna card ready, and check whether the plan summary lists a copay amount or a deductible, if you have access to it. Book online and it takes about 30 seconds. We verify your specific plan, including deductible status and New York-regulated status, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
Every Corning session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. A first session is an intake rather than treatment, what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already settled.
MindView sees adults 18 and older, and every appointment happens by secure video rather than at an office. There is no paper intake form to bring beforehand; the same verification call that confirms your Aetna benefit also confirms your appointment time before you finish booking.
People book here for anxiety, depression, burnout, and the pressures covered by stress management and work-related counseling. See the Corning location page for the plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
You do not need a diagnosis to book, and you do not need to already understand your plan’s design before you call. A rough sense that something needs to change is a reasonable enough starting point, and the plan details are the part we take off your plate.
What Aetna covers here
- •Aetna sells no individual plan in New York State. Every Aetna card here came through a job, a spouse's job, or a parent's plan.
- •What you pay depends on three things, whether the plan uses a copay or a deductible design, how much deductible has been met, and whether the plan is New York-regulated.
- •A copay is a flat amount set by the plan. A deductible design has you pay the negotiated rate until a yearly amount is met, then a coinsurance percentage usually applies.
- •On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than a primary care copay. That protection does not reach plans an employer buys outside New York or funds itself.
- •You pay your plan's share, never the difference between that and the full session fee. We verify your specific plan and give you the per-session cost before you book.
How to book with Aetna
- 1
Have your Aetna member ID card ready, and check whether the plan summary lists a copay amount or a deductible.
- 2
Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.
- 3
We verify your specific plan, including deductible status and New York-regulated status, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
- 4
Your first session is an intake, by secure video from anywhere in New York State.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Aetna questions
Can I buy an Aetna plan for myself in New York?
No. Aetna sells no individual plan anywhere in New York State. An Aetna card you're holding came through a job, a spouse's job, or a parent's plan while you still qualify as a dependent. Whichever door it came through, we verify what your specific plan owes for a session before you book, so there is nothing left to guess on your end.
What actually decides what I owe per session?
Three things. Whether your plan uses a copay design or a deductible design, how much of any deductible you have already met this plan year, and whether the plan is New York-regulated or something your employer funds itself. We settle all three before you book, rather than quoting an average that may not apply to you.
What does it mean if my plan is New York-regulated?
On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary care copay. That rule does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself, which is exactly why we check your plan rather than promise the rule applies.
Two thirds of working-age Corning residents have job-based coverage. Does that help me?
It explains why Aetna's single New York route reaches most people in Corning, since 65.5 percent of working-age city residents hold employer coverage against 61.2 percent statewide. That is a coverage-access pattern, not a statement about income, work, or need, and it does not tell us anything about your specific plan. We still look up your plan design, deductible status, and regulatory status before you book.
Does MindView have a Corning office?
No. Every Corning session happens by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo, and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen. Where you are seated for the call does not change what your Aetna plan owes.
