Why MindView
Most therapy in Freeport has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Cigna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Cigna in Freeport, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Cigna and sees Freeport adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Two kinds of Cigna coverage reach Nassau County. One is New York group business, which New York regulates. The other is a national plan an out-of-state employer funds itself, which New York does not. Which one you hold decides which protections apply to you.
Public administration employs 1,192 Freeport residents. It is a small sector and an unusually clear one, because a public employer in New York is a New York body by definition, and a plan it buys is written under New York's rules. Set that against a plan a multi-state company funds itself and you have the two halves of what a Cigna card can mean here.
Two kinds of Cigna coverage reach Nassau County
Yes. We are in-network with Cigna, and Freeport adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. What is worth settling before anything else is which of two structurally different arrangements your specific card belongs to, because the same logo covers both and only one of them carries New York’s protections.
The first is New York group business, sold to an employer situated in New York and regulated under New York insurance law. The second is a national plan, most often bought by an employer headquartered outside New York for a workforce spread across several states, which the employer funds itself rather than buying as an insurance product. Both reach Nassau County, and a reader cannot tell which one applies just by glancing at the card.
Both arrangements carry the Cigna name and, in most cases, access to the same clinicians through the same network agreement. What differs is not who you can see. It is which set of consumer protections stands behind the plan once a claim is filed, and that difference is invisible from the outside of the card no matter how carefully you read it.
Only one of them is written under New York’s rules
On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than your primary-care copay, a real protection written into state insurance law. That protection reaches New York group business. It does not reach a national plan an out-of-state employer funds itself, because self-funded plans are generally governed by federal rather than state rules, regardless of where the employee doing the work happens to sit.
That asymmetry is why this opens with two arrangements rather than a bare confirmation. A Freeport reader assuming New York’s cap automatically applies to any Cigna card could be right or substantially wrong, depending on a fact the card itself does not clearly state. We do not guess. We read the plan and say which rule governs it before quoting anything.
A deductible does not know what you earn, and neither does the copay cap. Both are structural features of the plan design, set once by whoever built the plan, and neither adjusts based on a member’s income or household circumstances. The only thing that changes the arithmetic here is which rulebook governs the plan, not anything particular about the person holding the card.
A public employer is a New York employer
Public administration employs 1,192 Freeport residents, 5.1 percent of the 23,253 employed civilians the Census counts in the village, essentially level with Nassau County’s 4.8 percent and New York State’s 4.8 percent. The figure itself is unremarkable, and it is reported here as exactly that rather than dressed up into something bigger.
What makes public administration useful for this specific question is its definitional clarity. A village government, a school district, or a county agency operating in New York is, by definition, a New York body, and a health plan it buys is overwhelmingly likely to be written under New York’s rules rather than an out-of-state self-funded design. That gives a reader working in public administration a reasonably strong signal about which of the two Cigna arrangements applies, though it is a heuristic and not a determination, and the plan still gets read before anything is confirmed.
The 5.1 percent figure sitting almost exactly on top of both comparators is worth pointing out precisely because it resists the temptation to build a bigger story out of it. Freeport is not unusually public-sector heavy compared with the rest of Nassau County or the state. It is an ordinary village with an ordinary share of public employment, and the argument here rests on the logic of who the employer is, not on how many residents work for one.
What the copay cap does and does not reach
Neither the public administration employment figure nor any other number here is evidence about who specifically holds a Cigna card, in either arrangement. What the sector does establish is a rough, useful heuristic: a public-sector employer is more likely to produce New York-regulated coverage, and a multi-state private employer is more likely to produce the self-funded national version.
Likelihood is not certainty, and the heuristic is deliberately limited to that word. A local nonprofit, a small New York-only company, or a multi-site public agency can each complicate the pattern in ways a resident’s job title alone will not reveal. The only way to know for certain which rulebook governs a specific plan is to read it, which is exactly the step we do not skip regardless of how strong the heuristic looks.
None of this is meant to encourage guessing instead of checking. It exists only to explain, before the check happens, why the answer for a public-sector household and a multi-state private-sector household so often lands differently, even though both households might describe their coverage the same way if asked casually.
What we check before your first session
Before booking, we read your specific Cigna plan to determine whether it is New York-regulated group coverage or a self-funded national plan, since that single fact decides whether the state’s copay cap applies. We then confirm the actual cost sharing set by the plan, a copay, a coinsurance percentage, or a deductible, and give you a written number rather than an assumption based on the logo or on your employer’s sector.
You do not get to choose which of the two arrangements applies to you. Your employer made that decision when it purchased or built the plan. What we can do is find out which one is true and tell you plainly what it means for your cost before you commit to booking.
None of the plan-type detail above is really why someone books a first session, and it is worth saying so directly. Whether a Cigna card runs under New York’s rulebook or a national one, the reason for calling is rarely about which arrangement applies; it is whatever brought a person to consider therapy in the first place, work stress, a relationship, a period that has gotten harder than expected. What the rulebook question settles is only whether the cost of getting there is predictable, so that question is never the one still open once the first session actually starts.
A deductible on either arrangement resets once a year, on whatever date the plan year begins, which is not always January 1. If yours has already been met through other medical costs by the time you book, coinsurance alone may apply from that point, without a further deductible stacked on top.
A copay, coinsurance, and a deductible are three genuinely different mechanisms, and it is worth being precise about how. A copay never changes with the size of a visit’s allowed cost. Coinsurance always does, since it is calculated as a fixed percentage of that allowed cost every time. A deductible is not a per-visit charge at all; it is a running threshold, and the full cost of a visit can apply before either a copay or coinsurance rate takes effect. For a first session specifically, if the plan year begins early in the calendar year and the deductible has not yet been touched by other medical spending, that first appointment is the one most likely to run against the full allowed amount rather than a smaller copay, on either kind of Cigna plan.
Booking
Adults 18 and older across Freeport carry a Cigna card through their own job or a spouse’s, most often without knowing which of the two rulebooks governs it, and the reason for booking is rarely about that distinction at all. People come in for anxiety, everyday stress management, burnout, and the pressures covered by work-related counseling.
MindView has no office in Freeport, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we verify which arrangement applies to your plan and state the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
What Cigna covers here
- •Two kinds of Cigna coverage reach Nassau County, New York-regulated group business and a national plan a self-funded employer runs. Both are in-network for us.
- •On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. That protection does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself.
- •A public employer in New York is a New York body, so a plan it buys tends to be New York-regulated. That is a heuristic, not a guarantee, and we still read the plan.
- •You pay your plan's share, never the difference between it and the full session fee.
- •We verify which arrangement applies to you and give the per-session cost in writing before anything is scheduled.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Cigna questions
Is my Cigna plan a New York plan?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, and it matters. New York group coverage is regulated by New York, while a plan an out-of-state employer funds itself generally is not. We read the plan rather than guess, and either way we are in-network.
Does New York cap what I pay for a therapy visit?
On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot exceed the primary-care copay. That cap does not apply to coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself, which is one of the two things we check for your specific plan.
I work for a school district or the village. Does that help?
A public employer in New York is a New York body, so a plan it buys is written under New York's rules. Public administration employs 1,192 Freeport residents, 5.1 percent, level with both Nassau County's 4.8 percent and the state's 4.8 percent. The figure is unremarkable; the useful part is the logic, not the size.
What will a session cost?
Your copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible, depending on which rulebook governs your plan. We give the number in writing before booking, and you are never billed the gap between it and the full session fee.
Do you have an office in Freeport?
No, and no office anywhere clients are seen. Every session is by secure video with a New York-licensed clinician, from anywhere in the state. Adults 18 and older.
