Why MindView
Most therapy in Mount Vernon has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Mount Vernon, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Mount Vernon adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare covers outpatient mental health delivered by telehealth, and your home is a permitted place to have the session. On Original Medicare the 2026 Part B deductible is $283 and you then owe 20 percent. If you carry a Medicare Advantage card, we verify which plan it is before booking rather than assuming.
In Mount Vernon, 10,314 of 11,359 residents aged 65 and over carry Medicare, which is 90.8 percent. Across Westchester County the figure is 93.9 percent, and statewide it is 94.7 percent. So close to one in ten Mount Vernon residents past 65 is covered some other way, or not at all. That makes the first question worth asking a different one than most people expect.
Being 65 in Mount Vernon does not automatically mean being on Medicare
Yes. MindView is in-network with Medicare, and Mount Vernon adults are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. The more useful place to start, though, is a fact that runs against the usual assumption: turning 65 in Mount Vernon does not automatically put you on Medicare.
Of 11,359 Mount Vernon residents aged 65 and over, 10,314 carry Medicare, which is 90.8 percent. Across Westchester County the same figure is 93.9 percent, and statewide it is 94.7 percent. The gap between Mount Vernon and both of those numbers is not huge, but it is real, which means the first useful step is helping you confirm what you actually hold rather than assuming Medicare is automatically your coverage.
There are a handful of ordinary reasons someone past 65 in Mount Vernon might not be relying on Medicare as their primary coverage: continued employer coverage past the usual retirement age, a spouse’s plan, or coverage through a program not covered here. None of those situations are unusual, and none of them change whether MindView can see you. What changes is which coverage we verify first.
What Original Medicare pays for therapy
Original Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health care, therapy included, and that coverage extends to sessions delivered by telehealth. There is no separate, lesser version of the benefit for video visits. The rules that govern what is covered are the same whether a session happens in an office or from your kitchen table.
Another 940 Mount Vernon residents aged 19 to 64 also carry Medicare, a reminder that the program reaches people through disability and other pathways, not only through turning 65. Across every age group, 11,550 Mount Vernon residents, 16.1 percent of the city, carry Medicare in some form.
That distinction matters for how we approach your first visit. Someone reaching Medicare through disability at 40 has a different set of questions than someone reaching it at 67 after decades on an employer plan, and we do not assume which situation applies to you. What stays the same across both is that Part B’s outpatient mental health coverage, and its telehealth allowance, apply identically regardless of the pathway that got you there.
The deductible, then the twenty percent
The arithmetic on Original Medicare is straightforward once you know the two numbers. In 2026 the Part B annual deductible is $283. Once that is met for the year, you owe 20 percent coinsurance on the Medicare-approved amount for each session, and Medicare pays the remaining 80 percent. The standard Part B monthly premium is $202.90, which is separate from the per-session cost of a therapy visit.
A supplement plan or a secondary insurance can change what that 20 percent actually costs out of pocket, sometimes covering it entirely. We ask whether you carry a second card specifically because of this, since two people both on Original Medicare can have very different real costs depending on what else they hold.
The deductible itself is annual, not per service and not per provider. Once it is met for the year through any covered Medicare service, not therapy specifically, the 20 percent coinsurance rate applies from that point forward without the deductible being charged again. We confirm where you stand on that deductible as part of the same check, so a session scheduled later in the year is not billed as though the deductible were still outstanding.
If your card says Advantage
A Medicare Advantage card looks similar to an Original Medicare card but works differently underneath, with its own network rules set by the private insurer administering the plan. We do not assume network status for any Medicare Advantage plan, and we are not going to state here which specific Advantage plans are or are not in-network, because that varies plan by plan and changes from year to year.
What we do instead is verify which specific Advantage plan your card represents before booking, so you get an accurate answer for your plan rather than a general one that might not apply to it. This is the same standard we hold for every Medicare Advantage card, regardless of which company issued it.
Advantage plans change their networks from one plan year to the next, sometimes without much notice to members. A plan that was in-network last year does not automatically stay in-network this year, and the reverse is also true. That is precisely why we treat every Advantage card as its own question rather than extending a prior answer forward, even for a plan we have verified before.
Your home counts as the place of care
Medicare telehealth for mental health carries no rural restriction and no requirement that you be at a clinic, hospital, or other approved facility to have your session. Your home is a permitted place of service, and that has been true regardless of where in New York State you live.
This matters in a very ordinary way for people managing mobility limits, transportation gaps, or just a schedule that does not leave room for travel to and from an appointment. The benefit works the same whether you are in Mount Vernon proper or anywhere else in New York State during the session.
The one condition that does matter is the state line, not the address within it. Because our clinicians are licensed in New York, a session has to happen while you are physically located somewhere in New York State, which for most Mount Vernon clients simply means being home, at work, or wherever the day happens to place them, as long as it is inside the state.
Who books here
Adults 18 and older across Mount Vernon reach MindView on Medicare, whether Original Medicare or a specific Advantage plan we have verified. People come in for depression, anxiety, grief, the kind of life transitions that come with later decades, and the emotional weight that often travels alongside chronic pain or illness.
MindView has no office in Mount Vernon, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the Mount Vernon location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of MindView’s statewide New York coverage.
You do not need to have Medicare fully sorted out before you reach out. Plenty of people booking a first session are not certain whether they are on Original Medicare, an Advantage plan, or something else layered on top, and figuring that out together is a normal part of getting started rather than a prerequisite for it.
Getting the second card checked before session one
Have your Medicare card ready, along with any supplement or Advantage card you also carry. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify your specific coverage and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled, deductible and any secondary coverage included.
If you are not sure which type of Medicare coverage you have, bring whatever cards you carry to the benefits check rather than trying to work it out in advance. Sorting through supplement and Advantage terminology is exactly the kind of task this step exists to handle for you.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. You set a recurring weekly time before you finish, with the cost already confirmed.

How to book with Medicare

- 3
We verify your specific coverage, Original Medicare or Advantage, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
- 4
Your first session is an intake, by secure video from home or anywhere in New York State.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
I am 67 and still on my employer's plan. Which one pays for therapy?
It depends on which plan is primary, and that is exactly the check we run before booking. Not everyone past 65 in Mount Vernon relies on Medicare alone. 10,314 of 11,359 residents 65 and over hold Medicare here, which means a meaningful number are covered some other way, including through continued employer coverage.
My card says Medicare Advantage. Is that the same thing?
No, and this is a distinction worth getting right. We do not assume network status for any Medicare Advantage plan. We verify which specific plan your card represents before booking, rather than treating it as automatically interchangeable with Original Medicare.
Do I have to travel anywhere for a Medicare telehealth session?
No. Your home is a permitted place of service for Medicare mental health telehealth, with no rural or originating-site restriction on this particular benefit. You can have your session from wherever you are, as long as you are inside New York State.
What will I pay on Original Medicare?
In 2026 the Part B annual deductible is $283. After that you owe 20 percent coinsurance on the allowed amount. A supplement or secondary plan can lower what that 20 percent actually costs you, which is part of what we check before your first session.
Does MindView have a Mount Vernon office?
No. Every session is by secure video with a New York-licensed clinician, from anywhere inside the state, including from home. MindView's offices are in Queens and Buffalo, and they are offices rather than places where Mount Vernon clients are seen in person.
