Why MindView
Most therapy in Plattsburgh has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Plattsburgh, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Plattsburgh adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare is not only a programme for people over 65, and in Clinton County a larger share of beneficiaries qualify before 65 than across New York State. Your home counts as an approved place to receive mental health care by video. Original Medicare in 2026 asks for a $283 annual Part B deductible and then 20 percent.
Across Clinton County, 3,399 of 20,346 Medicare beneficiaries qualify through disability rather than age. That is 16.7 percent, against 10.1 percent for New York State as a whole. In the city itself, 467 residents aged 19 to 64 have Medicare. If you are under 65 and on Medicare, nothing here is written around the assumption that you are not.
Medicare before 65 is not unusual here
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Plattsburgh adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare pages usually assume a reader over 65. In Clinton County, that assumption is wrong more often than the statewide pattern would suggest: 3,399 of the county’s 20,346 Medicare beneficiaries qualify through disability rather than age, 16.7 percent, against 10.1 percent across New York State as a whole. In Plattsburgh itself, 467 residents aged 19 to 64 carry Medicare coverage, 3.7 percent of that age group, against 5.2 percent for Clinton County and 3.4 percent statewide.
Those numbers describe a CMS eligibility category, nothing more. We do not know, and will not guess at, why any individual reader qualifies before 65. What the figures do establish is that a first session with an under-65 Medicare beneficiary is a routine, expected appointment here, not an exception the page has to work around.
That distinction matters past the paperwork. A disability determination usually follows a period where something in a person’s life changed hard enough to qualify for it: a health condition, a job that ended, an income that dropped, or an identity built around work that no longer applies the same way. None of that is a diagnosis, and none of it is assumed about any one person who calls. It is simply common enough, among people who land on Medicare before 65, that a first session built only for a retiree misses a real share of who actually books one.
None of that turns 16.7 percent into a statement about any single caller, or a count of how many residents are managing a health change, a job loss, or a shift in identity, which these figures do not measure. It settles a smaller question first: whether an under-65 caller has to explain that Medicare applies to them, or whether the page already assumed it.
The 2026 arithmetic, which is the same at any age
Original Medicare Part B carries a $283 annual deductible in 2026, then 20 percent coinsurance on the Medicare-approved amount for outpatient mental health care. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month. Both figures apply exactly the same way to a 40-year-old beneficiary and an 80-year-old one; nothing about the arithmetic changes with age.
Original Medicare has no annual out-of-pocket maximum, so that 20 percent keeps applying to every session across the year unless something else limits it. A Medigap supplement is what usually does: most Medigap plans pay at least half of that coinsurance, and many pay all of it. Whether a specific Medigap plan applies to a specific person’s sessions is one of the things we check before booking, not something we assume from the fact that a supplement exists.
We verify the deductible status and coinsurance for your specific coverage and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled. That number can change partway through the year once the deductible is met, which is exactly why we check it rather than quote one flat figure for everyone.
Timing inside the calendar year matters here in a way it would not for a flat copay: a first session booked in January, before the $283 deductible has been touched by other care, can cost more out of pocket than the same session booked in November after other visits have already met it. That is why the deductible status gets checked at booking rather than assumed from the date on the calendar.
What a second card changes
Plattsburgh has 3,046 residents 65 and over, and 2,964 of them, 97.3 percent, carry Medicare. Of those, 1,033 hold an employer plan alongside Medicare, the single largest arrangement in the city, and 571 hold Medicare with no second plan at all. That range, inside one city, is why we ask what else is on the card before we quote a cost rather than after.
A second plan can pick up some or all of the 20 percent Part B coinsurance, depending entirely on how that second plan is written. It can also change which network applies to a given claim. None of that is something we assume from the fact that a second card exists; it is something we check against your actual coverage.
If Medicare is your only coverage, the Part B arithmetic above applies as written. If a second plan sits behind it, we ask for both cards and confirm what each one actually covers before your first session, not after a statement arrives in the mail.
The 1,033-and-571 split above describes Plattsburgh residents 65 and over, a different group from the under-65 beneficiaries described earlier; it is context for how coverage layers here, not a claim about which arrangement is more common at any specific age. We ask the same two questions of every caller regardless.
Advantage plans, and the sentence we will not skip
A Medicare Advantage plan is not Original Medicare. It is coverage run by a private insurance carrier under contract with Medicare, built on its own provider network, and that network is not something we can read off the word “Medicare” printed on the card.
We do not assume network status for an Advantage plan. We verify which card you carry before booking. That holds whether the plan name is one we recognize or one we have not seen before, because network participation is set plan by plan rather than carrier by carrier, and guessing gets it wrong often enough that we will not do it.
If you are enrolled in Original Medicare, with or without a supplement, the deductible and coinsurance figures above apply directly. If you carry an Advantage plan instead, tell us the plan name when you book and we confirm the specifics before your first session is scheduled, not after.
This applies whether the plan on your card is one we have already verified for another client or one we are checking for the first time. A plan we have not seen before is a reason to check it, not a reason to assume it will not work.
Your home is an approved place to be seen
Medicare mental health telehealth carries no geographic originating-site restriction. Your home counts as an approved place to receive care by video, the same as it would if you lived beside a hospital. That rule applies at any age, and under either Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan.
Every MindView session, at every location, is by secure video. That includes clients booking from a Plattsburgh address and clients anywhere else in New York State; a clinician licensed in New York meets you online rather than in an office.
For someone managing a health condition, an irregular schedule built around medical appointments or disability paperwork, or simply the ordinary friction of arranging a ride somewhere, removing the trip itself is not a small detail. It is often the difference between a weekly appointment that survives past the first few weeks and one that quietly stops happening.
This is true at any age on Medicare, not only past 65. A caller still working out what a changed schedule looks like week to week benefits from the same rule as a longtime beneficiary: the appointment comes to the home, not the other way around.
Getting a first session on the calendar
Adults 18 and older across Plattsburgh reach MindView on Medicare, at any age. People come in for depression, grief, and chronic pain or illness, among other concerns, and Medicare coverage does not gate which of those a person is allowed to bring to a first session.
See the Plattsburgh location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of MindView’s statewide New York coverage. MindView has no Plattsburgh office; every session is by secure video with a New York-licensed clinician.
Have your Medicare card ready, and your Advantage or supplement card too if you carry one. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we verify your specific coverage and the per-session cost before anything is scheduled. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. A recurring weekly time gets set before the session ends.
What Medicare covers here
- •You pay your plan's deductible and coinsurance instead of the full session fee once each is worked out for your coverage. You are never billed the difference.
- •Medicare covers outpatient mental health care for beneficiaries who qualify by age and for those who qualify through disability, on the same Part B terms.
- •Original Medicare Part B carries a $283 annual deductible in 2026, then 20 percent coinsurance, with no annual out-of-pocket maximum unless a supplement applies.
- •A Medicare Advantage plan runs on its own private network, and we confirm your specific plan before assuming any network status.
- •Mental health telehealth carries no geographic originating-site restriction. Your home is an approved place to receive care by video.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
I am under 65 and on Medicare. Does this coverage still apply to me?
Yes. Across Clinton County, 3,399 of 20,346 Medicare beneficiaries, 16.7 percent, qualify through disability rather than age, against 10.1 percent statewide. In Plattsburgh, 467 residents aged 19 to 64 carry Medicare. The cost arithmetic below applies the same way whether you are 40 or 80. We do not ask why you qualify, and nothing here assumes you are over 65.
What does a session cost on Original Medicare?
The 2026 Part B deductible is $283 a year, then 20 percent coinsurance on the Medicare-approved amount, with no annual out-of-pocket maximum. A Medigap supplement typically pays at least half of that coinsurance and often all of it. We check your deductible status and any supplement before your first session and tell you the number.
I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Are you in-network?
We do not assume network status for an Advantage plan. We verify which card you carry before booking. Advantage plans are run by private carriers, each with its own network, so the plan name matters more than the word Medicare printed above it. Tell us your plan when you book and we confirm before scheduling.
Do I have to travel anywhere to use Medicare telehealth?
No. Medicare mental health telehealth has no geographic originating-site restriction, and your home is an approved place to receive care. Every MindView session is by secure video, at any age and under either Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan.
I have Medicare and a second card. Which one do you bill?
Tell us about both and we check what each one covers before your first session. In Plattsburgh, 1,033 residents 65 and over hold an employer plan alongside Medicare, and 571 hold Medicare with no second plan. Both are common here, and we confirm rather than assume which applies to you.
