Why MindView
Most therapy in Olean has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Olean, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Olean adults by secure video. Medicare is federal, and for mental health telehealth there is no geographic originating-site restriction, so your own home in Olean is a permitted place to be seen. Most Cattaraugus County beneficiaries hold a Medicare Advantage card rather than Original Medicare, and we verify which one you carry before booking rather than assuming.
Cattaraugus County has 19,563 Medicare beneficiaries. Of those, 7,141 are on Original Medicare and 12,422 are on a Medicare Advantage or similar plan, so the Advantage card is the majority card here. That single split is the reason a Medicare conversation in Olean starts with a question rather than a yes, because the two cards do not behave the same way and the difference shows up in what you owe.
Two Medicare cards, two different answers
Cattaraugus County has 19,563 Medicare beneficiaries. 7,141 hold Original Medicare, the government-run plan with a national Part B benefit, and 12,422 hold a Medicare Advantage or similar plan sold by a private insurer, 63.5 percent of the county. Advantage is the majority card here, not Original Medicare, which is the opposite of what a Medicare conversation usually assumes.
That split is the reason the question here starts with which card you carry rather than a flat yes. Original Medicare and Advantage answer a cost question differently, and assuming the wrong one gets the number wrong before you ever book a first session in Olean.
The two are not variations on the same product. Original Medicare is a single national benefit administered by the federal government, so the rules are the same whether you live in Cattaraugus County or anywhere else in the country. A Medicare Advantage plan is sold and run by a private insurance company that Medicare pays to take on the coverage, and that company sets its own network, its own referral rules, and its own cost sharing within limits Medicare requires. Two people in Olean can both say “I have Medicare” and be describing genuinely different arrangements underneath that sentence.
What Original Medicare pays for therapy, and what you owe
Original Medicare covers outpatient mental health therapy under Part B. In 2026 you first pay the annual Part B deductible, $283, and once that is met Medicare pays 80 percent of its approved amount for a covered session. You owe the remaining 20 percent as coinsurance. The standard Part B premium, separate from the deductible, is $202.90 a month.
That 20 percent is not the end of the math for most people. A Medigap supplement or a secondary insurance plan, such as coverage carried through a former employer or a spouse, can reduce or remove the coinsurance depending on what it covers. We ask about a supplement or secondary plan before your first session and tell you the actual number you will owe, rather than quoting the 20 percent as if it applied evenly to everyone.
None of this changes whether you are new to Medicare or have carried it for years. The deductible resets every January, and the coinsurance applies session by session, so the number you owe in June is the same math as January once the deductible is behind you. What does change the number is whether a supplement or secondary plan exists, which is exactly the piece we confirm before scheduling anything.
Nearly one in seven Cattaraugus beneficiaries is not yet 65
Age is not the only reason a Cattaraugus County resident carries Medicare. Of the 19,563 beneficiaries in the county, 16,759 qualify by age and 2,804, close to one in seven, qualify through disability rather than turning 65. That is a real slice of who is on this card locally, not a rounding error.
We never ask why someone qualifies, and it changes nothing about what a session costs. What it does change is the range of what a Medicare client here is actually dealing with. Someone well past 65 might be learning to manage a household alone after decades of splitting it with a spouse, adjusting to a hearing aid or a cane, or noticing that the friends who used to fill a weekend are down to one or two phone calls a month. Someone who qualified younger, through disability, is often adjusting to a body or a daily routine that changed faster than expected, while coworkers and neighbors the same age are not facing any of that yet.
None of that follows automatically from the number, and we do not treat it as if it did. A person can hold either kind of card and be dealing with neither of those things. What the enrollment split does establish is that a first session booked out of Olean is not reliably talking to one kind of Medicare client, and we do not walk in assuming which one is in front of us.
What the enrollment split changes about booking
The 63.5 percent Advantage majority changes how we treat a Cattaraugus card, not just how the county looks on paper. A Medicare Advantage plan is sold by a private insurer, and each one sets its own network, referral rules and cost sharing on top of the Medicare structure. We do not assume network status for any Advantage plan. We verify which specific plan you carry and what it covers before anything is booked, the same way we would for Original Medicare, just with a different set of questions.
Medicare is federal, which means the telehealth rule is the same whether you are on Original Medicare or Advantage: for mental health services there is no geographic originating-site restriction, so your own home in Olean is a permitted place to be seen by secure video. That is why a Cattaraugus card works the same way from a kitchen table as it would from anywhere else in New York State.
In practice, verifying the card first changes the order of the conversation rather than the outcome. On Original Medicare, the deductible and coinsurance are fixed by Medicare itself, so once we know you hold that card the cost side is largely settled. On Advantage, the plan name on the card is only the starting point; the specific plan, not the Medicare Advantage label in general, decides the network and the cost sharing. We treat those as two different questions and answer the one that actually applies to you, rather than giving a single answer built for whichever card happens to be more common countywide.
Who books here
Adults 18 and older across Olean reach us on Original Medicare, on a Medicare Advantage plan, or on Medicare paired with a secondary or supplement plan that changes the math. People come in for grief, for a life transition that has upended a routine, for chronic pain or illness that wears on more than the body, and for ordinary depression and anxiety that do not need a dramatic reason to justify a first session.
MindView has no office in Olean. Every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, reachable from home or anywhere in the state. See the Olean location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
Some of the adults who book carry Medicare through age, and some carry it through disability, and the intake process is the same either way. Nothing about how you qualified for Medicare changes what we ask in a first session or what a course of care looks like from there.
You do not need a diagnosis to book, and you do not need to have sorted out which Medicare card you carry before you reach out. A general sense that something in your life has shifted and you would like help sorting through it is reason enough to start.
From here to a first session
Have your Medicare card ready, red white and blue for Original Medicare, or the card from your specific plan if you carry Advantage. Note whether you also carry a supplement or a secondary plan, since that is often what determines the final number. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we handle the verification from there.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, with your Medicare cost already confirmed rather than guessed at.
If your circumstances change, a plan year ends, a supplement is added, a card switches from Original Medicare to Advantage or back, we recheck the benefit rather than carrying the old number forward. The verification is not a one-time step at intake; it is something we repeat whenever the underlying coverage does.
What Medicare covers here
- •Original Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health therapy. You pay a deductible first, then 20 percent of the approved amount as coinsurance.
- •The 2026 Part B deductible is $283 and the standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month, both set annually by Medicare.
- •A Medigap supplement or a secondary insurance plan can lower or remove the 20 percent coinsurance. We check what yours covers before booking.
- •Medicare Advantage plans set their own network and cost sharing, so we verify the specific plan and card you carry rather than assuming coverage.
- •Medicare is federal, and for mental health telehealth there is no geographic originating-site restriction, so a home in Olean is a permitted place to be seen.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
I have a Medicare Advantage card. Am I covered with you?
We do not assume network status for any Medicare Advantage plan, which matters here since Advantage is the majority card in Cattaraugus County, 12,422 of 19,563 beneficiaries. We verify which specific plan you carry and what it covers before anything is booked, rather than after a first session, the same way we would check any other plan.
Does Medicare cover therapy by video from my home in Olean?
Yes. Medicare is federal, and for mental health telehealth there is no geographic originating-site restriction. Your own home in Olean is a permitted place to be seen, and that holds whether you are on Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan.
What does a session actually cost on Original Medicare?
After the 2026 Part B deductible of $283, you pay 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month, separate from that deductible. A Medigap supplement or a secondary plan can lower or remove the 20 percent, so we check yours and tell you the real number before booking.
I qualified for Medicare through disability rather than age. Is anything different?
Not for coverage of outpatient therapy. Coverage and cost work the same regardless of how you qualified. Locally, 2,804 of the county's 19,563 Medicare beneficiaries, close to one in seven, qualify through disability rather than age, so it is a common enough situation that we never treat it as unusual.
Does MindView have an Olean office?
No. Every Olean session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, reachable from home or anywhere in the state. Our nearest office is in Queens, and it is an office rather than a place clients are seen.
