Why MindView
Most therapy in Watervliet has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Watervliet, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Watervliet adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare covers outpatient mental health under Part B, and your home is a permitted site for a telehealth session. In 2026 the Part B deductible is $283, Medicare then pays 80 percent and 20 percent is coinsurance. If you carry a Medicare Advantage card we do not assume network status. We verify which card you hold before booking.
Albany County has 66,145 Medicare beneficiaries. Of those, 29,018 are in Original Medicare and 37,127 are in Medicare Advantage or another plan, a 56.1 percent Advantage share. In Watervliet itself, 1,963 of 2,003 residents aged 65 and over carry Medicare. In a county shaped that way, asking which card somebody actually holds is the ordinary first step rather than an unusual one.
Why we check the card first here
Most Medicare pages treat the Advantage check as a caveat mentioned at the end. Here the county’s own shape makes it the opening argument. Albany County has 66,145 Medicare beneficiaries, and 37,127 of them, 56.1 percent, are in Medicare Advantage or another plan rather than Original Medicare. That is a county figure, not a Watervliet figure specifically, and it describes the county’s overall shape rather than any individual’s coverage.
A Medicare Advantage plan replaces Original Medicare with a private plan carrying its own network, decided plan by plan rather than assumed from the word Medicare printed on a card. In a county where more than half of beneficiaries carry an Advantage plan, checking which one is not an edge case. It is the ordinary first step, and we take it before anything else is booked.
This is a standing practice rather than a one-off caution. Advantage plans change their provider networks from year to year, sometimes mid-year, and a plan that included us in January is not guaranteed to include us in December. Some Advantage plans also require a referral or prior authorization before a mental health visit is covered at all, a requirement Original Medicare does not carry.
An Advantage-majority county
Of the 66,145 Albany County beneficiaries, 29,018 are in Original Medicare, 43.9 percent, and 37,127 are in Medicare Advantage or another plan, 56.1 percent. Of the same 66,145, 58,839 qualify through age and 7,306 through disability, both reported here as counts rather than explained, since the reasons behind a disability qualification reach health status and are not something we address.
In Watervliet itself, 1,963 of 2,003 residents aged 65 and over carry Medicare, a figure with a wider margin of error than the county count, worth reading as context for how common Medicare coverage is at that age locally rather than as a precise number. Being in-network with Medicare generally is not the same claim as being in-network with a specific Advantage plan, and we do not treat the two as interchangeable. Advantage plans differ from each other and from Original Medicare in how they structure mental health cost sharing specifically, sometimes with a flat copay unrelated to the 20 percent coinsurance figure below, sometimes with a separate deductible of their own. None of that can be inferred from knowing only that someone carries an Advantage card.
What Part B leaves you paying
In 2026, Medicare Part B carries a $283 deductible before it pays anything toward outpatient mental health care. Once that is met, Part B pays 80 percent of the allowed amount, leaving 20 percent coinsurance on every session after. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month. That structure is not unique to mental health; it is the same arithmetic that applies to most outpatient medical care under Original Medicare.
The deductible is a once-a-year threshold rather than a per-visit charge, which is where confusion often starts. It does not reset with each new provider or each new kind of care; it is one cumulative total across everything Part B covers in a calendar year. Once it is met, through therapy or through anything else Part B pays for, the 20 percent coinsurance is what remains for every subsequent visit that year.
Original Medicare has no annual ceiling on out-of-pocket spending, which is why a second card matters so much for the 43.9 percent of Albany County beneficiaries carrying it. A second card, whether a supplement policy or continuing employer coverage, is what typically absorbs that 20 percent. We describe the structure without naming or ranking any specific product, and we check what a reader carries before quoting a number.
A beneficiary with no second card at all is not unusual, and it changes the arithmetic rather than the coverage itself: the 20 percent coinsurance still applies to every session, with nothing capping the yearly total. Some beneficiaries in that position budget for therapy the same way they budget for any other recurring Part B cost, session by session, and we quote the per-session number plainly so that budgeting is possible before the first appointment rather than after several bills have already arrived.
The 56.1 percent Advantage share in Albany County does not mean an Advantage plan makes this arithmetic simpler. Advantage plans commonly replace the Part B deductible and 20 percent coinsurance with a different structure entirely, sometimes a flat copay per visit, sometimes an annual out-of-pocket maximum Original Medicare does not carry at all. That can be a real improvement or a real complication depending on the specific plan, which is exactly why we read the actual Advantage plan document rather than assuming either.
Unlike an employer plan, where a deductible can reset on any date the employer chooses, Original Medicare’s Part B deductible always resets on the calendar year, January 1, with no exceptions and no plan-year variation to check. That makes the timing question simpler on Original Medicare than it is almost anywhere else in this build: a session booked in January, before any other Part B spending has counted toward the year’s $283 deductible, will generally cost more out of pocket than the identical session booked in November, once other outpatient care has already cleared that threshold. An Advantage plan, by contrast, can set its own deductible structure entirely, sometimes with no deductible at all and a flat copay from the first visit of the year.
Finding the actual number before you book, rather than discovering it on a statement, means telling us at booking exactly which card you carry, Original Medicare or a specific Advantage plan, and where you stand against whichever deductible structure applies. We confirm that before your first session is scheduled, not after.
What the years Medicare arrives in tend to bring
The years when Medicare eligibility arrives are often the same years when other things start changing. People lose the ones they have known longest. A new diagnosis reshapes what an ordinary week looks like, and a social circle narrows without anyone deciding it should. Those are common, ordinary reasons to want an hour with somebody, and they are among the reasons people in this age group call, whether or not that reason is the one they name at booking.
None of this is a claim about any individual who calls, and the enrollment figures above say nothing about who is grieving, who is carrying a new diagnosis, or who is simply looking for company in a changed week. Grief and the quiet weight of a health change sit alongside the reasons people in this age group actually book a session, without being the stated reason itself, and the county figures describe how coverage is held, not what anyone carrying it is going through. A standing weekly appointment can be one of the few fixed points left in a week that has otherwise lost its old structure, and a session by secure video keeps that fixed point simple to hold onto.
Starting, and what we confirm
Watervliet residents on Medicare come to us at every stage: newly eligible, long enrolled, or navigating an Advantage plan for the first time. People book for grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and the emotional weight that can sit alongside chronic pain or illness.
MindView has no office in Watervliet, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, from anywhere inside the state. See the Watervliet location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
Have your Medicare card ready, along with any second card, and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify exactly what you carry, tell you the per-session cost, and confirm whether an Advantage plan is in-network rather than assuming it. A first session is an intake: what brought you in, the background behind it, and a baseline reading with standardized measures that later sessions get checked against.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Are you in-network?
We do not assume network status for an Advantage plan. In Albany County more than half of beneficiaries carry one, so this is the ordinary case rather than the exception. Advantage networks also change from year to year, sometimes mid-year, so a plan that included us in January is not guaranteed to include us in December. We check the card before anything is booked and tell you what we find either way.
What does a session cost me on Original Medicare?
In 2026 Part B has a $283 deductible, then Medicare pays 80 percent and 20 percent is coinsurance, with a standard Part B premium of $202.90 a month. Original Medicare has no annual out-of-pocket ceiling, which is exactly what a second card is meant to absorb.
Does Medicare cover a session done from home?
Yes. There is no geographic originating-site restriction for mental health telehealth, and the home is a permitted site for a covered session. Original Medicare applies the same Part B cost sharing to it as any other covered outpatient visit, and an Advantage plan generally has to cover it too, though we still check network status separately.
What does a second card alongside Medicare do?
A second card is what absorbs the 20 percent coinsurance, since Original Medicare carries no annual cap on it. That second card is usually either a supplement policy or continuing coverage through a former employer, and which one someone carries changes what they owe per session. We read both cards at booking and never name or rank a supplement or a plan.
Is there a MindView office in Watervliet?
No. Every Watervliet session is by secure video with a New York-licensed clinician. Offices may be named as offices only.
