Why MindView

Most therapy in Geneva has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Geneva, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Geneva adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare has no geographic originating-site restriction for mental health telehealth, so your home is a permitted place to be seen. Most Ontario County beneficiaries are in Medicare Advantage rather than Original Medicare, and we do not assume network status for an Advantage plan. We verify which card you carry before booking, and again at the start of each year.

21,579 of Ontario County's 29,698 Medicare beneficiaries are in a Medicare Advantage or other private plan rather than Original Medicare. An Advantage plan is run by a private carrier with its own network, and that network can change at a plan year boundary while the card in your wallet looks identical. That is why we check, and why we check again in January.

Which card you carry decides the rest

Two people in Ontario County can both say “I have Medicare” and mean genuinely different things. One carries Original Medicare, the federal program itself. The other carries a Medicare Advantage plan, a private insurance product that gets paid by Medicare and then runs its own network on top of that.

Of Ontario County’s 29,698 Medicare beneficiaries, 8,119 hold Original Medicare and 21,579 hold Medicare Advantage or another private plan. That split is why “are you in network with Medicare” does not have one answer until we see which specific card is actually in the wallet.

Original Medicare’s network question is close to the same everywhere: a clinician who accepts Medicare accepts it on the same terms nationwide. An Advantage plan’s network question is not that simple, because “Advantage” names a category of private products rather than one plan with one fixed network.

Age accounts for most of the beneficiary count in Ontario County: 26,894 are entitled through age and 2,805 through disability. That distinction affects when someone became eligible for Medicare, not which of the two coverage types they end up carrying, so it does not change what we check before booking.

What changes on the first of January

A Medicare Advantage plan is a contract between a private carrier and Medicare, and contracts renew on a yearly cycle. Provider networks are set, and reset, at that same boundary, most visibly at the start of a new plan year.

Nothing about that process shows up on the card itself. The color scheme, the plan name, and the premium coming out of your account can all stay identical from one December to the next January while the list of clinicians the plan will actually pay for has quietly changed underneath.

We are not saying any particular Ontario County plan has changed or will change. We are saying the possibility exists inside how Advantage plans are built, and a possibility that cannot be seen from the outside is exactly the kind worth checking rather than assuming away.

None of this is unique to Ontario County. It is simply how Medicare Advantage is built everywhere the product exists, which is also why we apply the same re-verification step to every Advantage member rather than treating any single plan as a special case.

Why we re-check rather than assume

Of Ontario County’s 29,698 Medicare beneficiaries, 21,579 hold a Medicare Advantage plan, and its network can shift at a plan year boundary while the card and the premium both stay the same. What makes a course of work do anything is that it keeps going, and for an older adult the interruptions that actually end it are rarely a decision anyone made on purpose: a plan that changed, a letter unopened, a new January. That kind of continuity sits alongside the reason someone books a first session, without being the stated reason for calling, and it carries into a first session and every one after it. Taking the re-verification on ourselves rather than leaving it to the client is a small piece of that work, and it matters most for someone who would not restart if they stopped.

We do not assume network status for a Medicare Advantage plan, and we do not treat last year’s answer as automatically good for this year. Before your first session, we check the specific plan on your card, not just the word Medicare printed near it. If anything about the benefit has shifted since you last used it, you hear that from us before a session is scheduled, not after a claim comes back denied. The payer name on your card is a starting point, not a confirmation, and we say so plainly rather than guessing in either direction.

The 2026 arithmetic in Original Medicare

For the 8,119 Ontario County beneficiaries in Original Medicare, the numbers are fixed and published every year rather than set by a private plan’s own design. In 2026, Part B carries a $283 annual deductible. After that is met, you owe 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each covered outpatient mental health visit, and Medicare pays the rest.

The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month in 2026, the same regardless of which clinician you see. Original Medicare carries no annual out-of-pocket maximum, unlike most private coverage, which is the main reason many people add a Medigap supplement. A supplement typically covers at least half of that 20 percent coinsurance, and often all of it.

None of this arithmetic tells you which of the two programs you are actually enrolled in. That is still a question about the specific card, not about the word Medicare on its own, and it is the first thing we confirm before quoting a number.

Original Medicare’s cost structure is published the same way nationwide and does not vary by which specific plan you picked, because there is only one Original Medicare. That predictability is the opposite of what an Advantage plan offers, where the deductible, the copay structure, and the network are all set individually by the carrier that runs it.

Your own home is an approved place to be seen

Medicare’s telehealth rules for mental health carry no geographic originating-site restriction. Your home counts as a permitted place to be seen, and that has been true regardless of how Ontario County is classified for other federal purposes.

That matters for anyone weighing a drive against the appointment itself. A session happens over secure video from wherever you already are, with the same clinician each week, and nothing about being seen from home changes what Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan owes toward it.

The rule is the same for a first session and for the twentieth. Nothing about Medicare’s telehealth allowance is temporary or tied to a renewed waiver, and nothing about it requires a referral or a prior visit to a clinical office first.

Getting a first session on the calendar

Have your Medicare card ready, Original Medicare or whichever Advantage plan you carry, and note the plan name printed on it. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we handle the verification from there rather than asking you to call your plan first.

Adults across Ontario County book here for grief, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain and illness, along with the everyday strain that does not fit neatly under one label. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the history that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against.

MindView has no office in Geneva, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the Geneva location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage. You set a recurring weekly time before you finish that first call, with the cost already confirmed rather than left for a statement to explain later.

Sessions are for adults 18 and older, and every one is online by secure video rather than at a physical location. Care here is talk therapy; we do not prescribe or manage medication, and if that piece belongs in your plan we say so plainly rather than working around it.

What Medicare covers here

  • •Original Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health care after a $283 annual deductible, then you owe 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount.
  • •Medicare Advantage plans are run by private carriers with their own networks, so we verify your specific plan rather than assuming Medicare coverage extends automatically.
  • •There is no geographic originating-site restriction for Medicare mental health telehealth. Your home is a permitted place to be seen.
  • •Original Medicare carries no annual out-of-pocket maximum. A Medigap supplement typically covers at least half of the 20 percent coinsurance, often all of it.
  • •The standard 2026 Part B premium is $202.90 a month, the same whichever clinician you see.

How to book with Medicare

  1. 1

Have your Medicare card ready, Original Medicare or your Advantage plan's own card.

  2. 2

Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

We verify your specific plan and confirm the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

  4. 4

Your first session is an intake, by secure video from anywhere in New York State.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions

I have a Medicare Advantage card. Are you in network?

We do not assume so from the payer name alone, and we will not guess. A Medicare Advantage plan is run by a private carrier with its own network, so we verify the specific plan on your card before booking. In Ontario County, 21,579 of 29,698 Medicare beneficiaries hold an Advantage plan rather than Original Medicare, which is exactly why we check.

My plan did not change, so why check again every January?

Because a Medicare Advantage plan's network can change at the start of a new plan year while the card and the premium both look exactly the same. In Ontario County, where 21,579 of 29,698 beneficiaries carry an Advantage plan, that is the most likely thing to quietly interrupt a course of sessions, so we re-verify every year rather than assume last year's answer still holds.

What does therapy cost me on Original Medicare in 2026?

A $283 Part B deductible for the year, then 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each session. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month. Original Medicare has no annual out-of-pocket maximum, though a Medigap supplement typically covers at least half of that coinsurance and often all of it.

Do I have to travel somewhere to be seen for a Medicare telehealth visit?

No. Medicare mental health telehealth carries no geographic originating-site restriction, and your own home is a permitted place to be seen. You meet with your therapist by secure video from wherever you are in New York State.

Does MindView have a Geneva office?

No. Every Geneva session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
