Why MindView

Most therapy in Saratoga Springs has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Saratoga Springs, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Saratoga Springs adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Your home counts as an approved place to receive mental health care by video, with no geographic limit attached to it. Original Medicare in 2026 asks for a $283 annual Part B deductible, then 20 percent of the approved amount. Advantage plans and supplements change that arithmetic, so the card comes first.

Saratoga County counted 57,502 Medicare beneficiaries in 2025, and 33,111 of them were enrolled in a Medicare Advantage or similar plan rather than in Original Medicare. That is just under 58 percent, a majority, and it changes what a first appointment costs. Which card you hold is therefore the opening question here, ahead of whether you have Medicare at all.

Does MindView take Medicare in Saratoga Springs?

Yes. We are in-network with Medicare, and Saratoga Springs adults 18 and older are seen by secure video from home, anywhere in New York State. There is no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth under Medicare, and the home is a fully permitted place to receive it.

What your session costs depends on which kind of Medicare card you hold, not on Medicare as a single flat program. We sort out which one applies to you before booking, then confirm the number.

Most beneficiaries here are not on Original Medicare

Saratoga County counted 57,502 Medicare beneficiaries in 2025. Of those, 33,111, just under 58 percent, were enrolled in a Medicare Advantage or similar health plan rather than in Original Medicare. Only 24,391 held Original Medicare on its own.

That split matters more here than the word “Medicare” suggests on its own. A majority of local beneficiaries carry a plan card with a private insurer’s name on it, and that plan sets its own cost sharing rather than following the deductible-and-coinsurance rule described below. The minority still on Original Medicare are the ones the numbers in the next section apply to directly.

The card decides the arithmetic

If your card is the red, white and blue Original Medicare card, the classic one most people picture, the cost story is the Part B deductible and coinsurance described in the next section. If your card instead carries a private insurer’s name, you are on Medicare Advantage, and that plan, not Medicare directly, sets your copay or coinsurance. We do not assume network status for an Advantage plan, so we verify which card you carry before booking, since your plan’s terms come from the card itself rather than from anything general anyone could say about the category.

We never assume which one applies to you. Telling us which card you carry is the first thing that happens at booking, and it is what determines whether the numbers below are your numbers or whether we need to look at your plan’s own terms instead.

What Original Medicare costs per session in 2026

For 2026, Original Medicare asks for a $283 annual Part B deductible before it starts sharing outpatient costs at all. After that deductible is met, you pay 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount per session, and Medicare covers the rest. The standard Part B monthly premium for 2026 is $202.90.

There is no session limit and no referral needed for outpatient therapy under Original Medicare when care is medically necessary. What there also is not, and this is worth stating plainly, is an out-of-pocket maximum. Original Medicare on its own has no ceiling on what a year of 20 percent coinsurance can add up to.

The deductible resets once a calendar year, every January, which is simpler than the plan-year timing an employer plan runs on but still worth tracking. If you have already met the $283 deductible through other medical care earlier in the year, a session later in that same year costs only the 20 percent coinsurance, with no deductible portion attached. Early in a new year, before the deductible is met, the first sessions carry the deductible cost until that threshold is reached.

Why a supplement changes the answer

A Medigap supplement plan exists specifically to answer the gap Original Medicare leaves open. Most supplement plans pay at least half of that 20 percent coinsurance, and many pay all of it, which is the difference between an open-ended yearly cost and a predictable one.

We ask whether you carry a supplement as part of the intake conversation, because it changes what you actually owe per session more than almost any other single fact about your coverage. If you are not sure whether you have one, that is a completely normal thing to find out together before your first appointment.

A quick way to check is your Medicare Summary Notice, mailed periodically, or your account at medicare.gov, both of which list any supplement plan tied to your Medicare number. If nothing shows up there, you are likely on Original Medicare without a supplement, and the full $283-then-20-percent structure applies to you directly. Either way, we confirm it rather than assume.

Medicare before 65

Medicare is not only a program for people 65 and older, and this county’s own numbers show it. 5,234 Saratoga County beneficiaries are entitled to Medicare through disability rather than age. In Saratoga Springs specifically, 591 residents with Medicare coverage are under 65.

If you are one of them, nothing about the process above changes. The Part B deductible, the 20 percent coinsurance, and the Advantage-plan alternative all work the same way regardless of how you qualified for Medicare in the first place.

For many of the 591 Saratoga Springs residents with Medicare under 65, qualifying through disability came with its own kind of loss: a work identity that changed faster than expected, a medical history that grew heavier than anyone planned for, and a social circle that got smaller as old routines built around a job fell away. For beneficiaries over 65 instead, a first session more often carries a spouse’s new diagnosis, a friend group thinning out one loss at a time, or the isolation that can come with getting older.

Qualifying for Medicare, at any age, is not itself a reason to start therapy. It means that the two most common paths onto this county’s Medicare rolls tend to arrive at a first session already carrying something specific, not something vague.

What Medicare will not pay for in therapy

One scope limit is worth stating honestly rather than leaving vague. Medicare does not cover couples counseling for relationship difficulties on their own. Family or couples sessions are covered only when they are part of medically necessary treatment tied to one enrolled patient’s own diagnosed condition, not as a standalone benefit for a couple.

If that limit affects what you were hoping to book, say so during intake, and we will talk through what is and is not coverable given your specific situation.

Who books here

Adults across Saratoga Springs come to MindView on Medicare for depression, grief, loneliness, chronic pain and illness, and caregiver burnout. With a majority of local beneficiaries on an Advantage plan rather than Original Medicare, the questions we hear at intake are as often about which card applies as about the visit itself.

MindView has no office in Saratoga Springs, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the Saratoga Springs location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.

You do not need a diagnosis in hand to book, and you do not need a referral from a primary care doctor either. A rough sense that something has become harder to manage on your own, whether that is grief, a chronic health condition, or the isolation that can come with getting older, is reason enough to start.

Booking with Medicare

Have your Medicare card ready, whether that is the Original Medicare card or an Advantage plan card, and let us know if you also carry a supplement. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we verify the rest before your first appointment is confirmed.

A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. You set a recurring weekly time before you finish.

What Medicare covers here

  • •Original Medicare in 2026: a $283 annual Part B deductible, then 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for outpatient mental health.
  • •The standard Part B monthly premium is $202.90 in 2026. A Medigap supplement typically pays at least half, and often all, of the 20 percent coinsurance.
  • •Original Medicare has no out-of-pocket maximum, which is the reason the supplement question matters at intake.
  • •A card carrying a private company's name is Medicare Advantage, and its cost sharing is set by that plan rather than by the deductible-and-coinsurance rule.
  • •No referral is needed for outpatient therapy under Original Medicare, and mental health telehealth from home is a permanent, permitted benefit with no geographic restriction.

How to book with Medicare

  1. 1

Have your red, white and blue Medicare card ready, or your Advantage plan card if that applies to you.

  2. 2

Tell us whether you also carry a Medigap supplement.

  3. 3

Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.

  4. 4

We verify your specific coverage and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions

I have Original Medicare in Saratoga Springs. What is my actual cost per session?

In 2026, you first pay the $283 annual Part B deductible, then 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each session after that. A Medigap supplement typically pays at least half, and often all, of that 20 percent. Original Medicare carries no out-of-pocket maximum for the year, which is exactly why we ask about a supplement before your first session.

Most people I know around here have a plan with a company name on it. Is that still Medicare?

It is Medicare Advantage, and it is genuinely common in this county. 33,111 of Saratoga County's 57,502 Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in an Advantage or similar plan. Cost sharing on that kind of plan is set by the insurer rather than by the deductible-and-20-percent rule, so we check your specific plan before booking rather than assume the Original Medicare numbers apply.

Does Medicare pay for therapy by video from my house?

Yes. There is no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth, and your home is a permitted place to receive it. Mental health telehealth from home is a permanent Medicare benefit, and the requirement for an in-person visit around it is waived through December 31, 2027, so a fully video course of care is available to you.

I am under 65 and on Medicare through disability. Will you see me?

Yes. MindView works with adults 18 and older, and Medicare through disability is far from rare in this county. 5,234 Saratoga County beneficiaries are entitled through disability rather than age, so this route onto Medicare is common here rather than an exception we have to think through specially.

Can my spouse and I do couples work on Medicare?

Not for relationship difficulties on their own. Medicare covers family or couples sessions only as part of medically necessary treatment tied to one enrolled patient's own diagnosed condition, not as standalone couples counseling. We can talk through what that does and does not cover for your situation before you book.
