Why MindView
Most therapy in Manhattan has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Manhattan, in short
MindView Therapy sees Manhattan adults on Original Medicare by secure video anywhere in New York State. Part B covers weekly outpatient therapy, and we confirm your full cost picture before session one, including whether your Medigap supplement takes your share to zero. Accepting new clients now.
Manhattan's Medicare population does something unusual, it splits almost evenly between Original Medicare and private Advantage cards. If you kept Original Medicare, likely alongside a supplement, this page is yours. It covers what Part B actually pays for therapy, what remains for you, and how weekly video sessions work from a Manhattan apartment.
Does MindView take Medicare in Manhattan?
Yes. Original Medicare members in Manhattan see us by secure video, covered from home as a permanent Part B benefit, with our clinicians licensed across New York State.
The office question answered honestly: nothing on the island, nearest one in Jamaica, Queens, sessions by video. For a member whose knees have opinions about subway stairs, home-based sessions are less a compromise than a mercy.
Half the island kept Original Medicare. Here is what it buys
Manhattan’s Medicare population split almost exactly down the middle: half kept Original Medicare, half handed it to a private Advantage plan, and the two work very differently at booking time. Federal enrollment data counts 297,905 beneficiaries in the county, with 157,348 keeping Original Medicare against 140,557 in Advantage plans, an even split that makes Manhattan unusual in the city.
This page serves the Original Medicare half. What that choice bought you, for therapy purposes, is straightforward national coverage, no referral, a free annual depression screening, and the 80/20 arrangement described next.
Deductible, then 20 percent, then Medigap
The Part B math runs in three steps. Step one, the annual deductible: $283 in 2026, a figure Medicare sets, paid before coverage starts each year. Step two, the 80/20 split: Medicare pays 80 percent of the approved amount for each therapy session, and your coinsurance is the remaining 20. Step three is where Manhattan members often win: Medigap. With a Medigap supplement doing its job, many Manhattan members pay nothing per session once the year’s deductible is behind them.
Original Medicare carries no out-of-pocket cap on its own, which is precisely why that supplement changes everything, and why the first thing we ask during verification is whether you carry one. One boundary stated early: counseling aimed purely at a relationship is not a Part B benefit; family involvement is covered only as treatment of your own condition.
Retirement in a city that never asks you to slow down
This island never asks anyone to slow down, which makes the first year of retirement here stranger than anyone admits. The workday identity ends, the colleagues scatter, a spouse is lost or a best friend decamps to Florida, and Manhattan keeps roaring along outside the window as if nothing changed.
A standing weekly session gives that transition structure and honest company. Whether what arrives is grief that has settled into low mood or worry that circles health and money at 3am, it is treatable, and the coverage you spent a working life earning pays for the treatment.
How to book with Medicare
For household reference, Manhattan’s full plan list: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
Request a time on the booking page, or call (646) 493-4007 and start with a voice; either way we respond within one business day, verify both your cards, and put your cost in writing before your first session.
What Medicare covers here
- •Part B covers outpatient mental health care. You pay the annual Part B deductible, which Medicare set at $283 for 2026, and after that Medicare pays 80 percent of the approved amount per session while you owe 20 percent.
- •Manhattan members often carry a Medigap supplement, and supplements pay at least half and usually all of that 20 percent, leaving many people at zero per session once the deductible is done. Have the supplement card ready when we verify.
- •Mental health telehealth from home is a permanent Medicare benefit, with the periodic in-person requirement waived through December 31, 2027. We confirm the rules in force when you book.
- •No referral is needed, the annual depression screening is free, and Medicare covers family involvement only as part of treating your own condition, not counseling aimed purely at a relationship.
How to book with Medicare
- 1
Set out two cards if you have them, Medicare and your supplement. Together they tell the whole cost story.
- 2
Request an appointment online, or call if you would rather begin with a conversation.
- 3
We confirm the Part B coverage and the supplement's share, then send you your cost in writing before the intake.
- 4
Meet weekly by secure video from your apartment, with the schedule and the numbers both settled.
What we treat
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
Does MindView Therapy accept Medicare in Manhattan?
Yes. We accept Original Medicare and see Manhattan clients by secure video anywhere in New York State. We keep no office in the borough; the nearest is ours in Jamaica, Queens, and Medicare covers these video sessions from home.
Half my building seems to have Advantage plans. Which do I have?
Check who issued your card. A card issued by the government itself means Original Medicare, which this page describes and which we bill. A card from a private insurer is an Advantage plan with its own rules. Manhattan splits nearly evenly between the two, so tell us what you hold and we verify the right one.
What do I actually pay in 2026 with Original Medicare and a supplement?
Medicare set the 2026 Part B deductible at $283. After that, Medicare pays 80 percent of each session's approved amount and your share is 20 percent, which a Medigap supplement usually covers partly or fully. Many supplemented members pay nothing per session, and we confirm your exact picture before you start.
Is therapy from my apartment covered?
Yes. Mental health telehealth from home is a permanent Medicare benefit, and the requirement for periodic in-person visits is waived through the end of 2027. We track the rule changes so you never have to.
