Why MindView
Most therapy in Oneida has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Oneida, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare and sees Oneida adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Medicare places no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth, so your home is a permitted place to be seen. Madison County is split close to evenly between Original Medicare and Advantage plans, so we do not assume which you hold. In Original Medicare you pay the 2026 Part B deductible of $283 and then twenty percent of the approved amount.
Madison County has 16,483 Medicare beneficiaries, 7,070 of them in Original Medicare and 9,413 in an Advantage or other private plan. Most upstate counties lean clearly one way and this one does not, which means there is no typical reader to write for. Both arrangements are set out here rather than one being assumed, because guessing which card somebody carries is exactly the mistake that produces a wrong answer about cost.
Two arrangements, and no typical reader
Madison County has 16,483 Medicare beneficiaries. Of those, 7,070 are enrolled in Original Medicare, and 9,413 hold a Medicare Advantage plan or another private plan run on Medicare’s behalf. That split is closer to even than in most counties across upstate New York, where one arrangement usually accounts for a clear majority and a page can safely write toward it.
There is no majority reader here, which is why both arithmetics are treated as equally likely below rather than one being explained and the other mentioned in passing. MindView Therapy is in-network with Medicare, and Oneida adults are seen by secure video from anywhere in New York State, whichever of the two you carry. What changes further down is not whether we take your coverage. It is what a session costs and how that cost gets confirmed.
Reading the county split this way is not a guess about what any one household holds. It just means we do not default to explaining Original Medicare and treating Advantage as an aside, the way a page could if one arrangement genuinely were typical here. Both get the same amount of space below.
If you are in Original Medicare
In 2026, Original Medicare’s Part B deductible is $283 for the year. Once that is met, you owe twenty percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each outpatient mental health visit, and Medicare pays the remaining eighty percent. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month, charged the same way your other Medicare-covered care already is.
A deductible is the amount you pay before Medicare starts sharing the cost. Coinsurance is the percentage you keep paying after that, for the rest of the year. Both apply to outpatient mental health care the same way they apply to any other Part B service, with no separate deductible and no separate tier for it.
Original Medicare has no annual out-of-pocket maximum, so that twenty percent coinsurance applies to every session across the year rather than stopping once you have paid a certain amount. If you carry a Medigap supplement alongside Original Medicare, it typically covers at least half of that coinsurance and often all of it, which is the main reason two Original Medicare beneficiaries can pay very different amounts for what is otherwise the identical visit.
We confirm where you personally stand, deductible and supplement both, before your first session is scheduled rather than after a bill arrives.
The $283 deductible is a single yearly figure that applies across all of Part B, not a separate one set aside for therapy. If you have already met it through other medical care earlier in the year, an outpatient mental health visit starts at the twenty percent coinsurance directly, with nothing new to satisfy first.
If you carry an Advantage card
A Medicare Advantage plan is not billed to Medicare directly. It is run by a private carrier under a contract with Medicare, with its own network and its own cost-sharing rules, which means the deductible and coinsurance figures above describe Original Medicare and not your plan. We do not assume network status for a Medicare Advantage plan. We verify which specific card you carry before booking, every time, rather than guessing from the word Medicare alone.
In Madison County, more Medicare beneficiaries hold an Advantage or other private plan than hold Original Medicare, so this is not a small-print case here. What decides your cost is the carrier and plan printed on your card, not the word above it, and that is the detail we check before anything is scheduled. We are not able to name which carrier’s plans are in network from the enrollment figures alone, since that breakdown is not published at the county level, so we ask to see the card itself.
That verification step is not a formality. Two Advantage plans from two different carriers can set entirely different copays and entirely different referral rules for outpatient mental health, even though both show the word Medicare somewhere on the card. Checking first is how we avoid quoting a number that turns out to be wrong for your specific plan.
Some Advantage plans require a referral or prior authorization for outpatient mental health, and some do not; that detail lives in your specific plan’s own rules rather than in Medicare’s. It is one more reason we look at the card itself instead of working from an assumption about what the word Medicare implies.
Your own home is an approved place to be seen
Medicare places no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth. Your home is a permitted place to be seen, the same as a clinical office would be, and that is true under Original Medicare and under Medicare Advantage alike.
Sessions are by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State, for adults 18 and older. MindView has no office in Oneida. Our three offices are in Queens, Buffalo and Carmel, Indiana, and each one is an office rather than a place clients are seen; every session, at every location, happens the same way, from wherever you are.
You do not need anything beyond a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and a private place to sit for the hour. No separate approval is required to be seen from home instead of an office, because the home was never excluded to begin with.
When somebody else had the idea
Of Madison County’s Medicare beneficiaries, 14,680 are entitled through age, in a county split close to evenly between Original Medicare and Advantage. For a lot of people in that age group, the first person to raise the idea of therapy is not a doctor. It is an adult child or a spouse, and starting because somebody else brought it up is an awkward, slightly embarrassing way to begin, one that turns out to be completely workable anyway. That reason sits alongside the reason someone books a first session, without being the stated reason for calling, and it is usually more useful to name it out loud in the room, including the part where you are not fully convinced, than to pretend the idea was yours from the start.
Saying that tends to work better than working around it. A first session is a reasonable place to say who raised the idea and how you actually feel about it, disagreement included, rather than presenting a version of yourself that arrived here entirely on your own. That single sentence, said early, tends to matter more than it seems like it should. It applies whether what brought you in was grief, a difficult life transition, or something with no clean name yet, and it applies just as much when family members are part of the conversation, the way they can be in family therapy.
Getting a first session on the calendar
Booking starts with the card, not a phone call. Have it ready, note whether it says Original Medicare or names an Advantage carrier, and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We verify the benefit, tell you the per-session cost, and confirm it before anything is scheduled, so the first bill is never the first time you hear the number.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there you set a recurring weekly time, whether what you are working on is anxiety, depression, or something closer to general therapy than either label fits.
Most people set that standing weekly time once the first session is scheduled, at whichever day and hour tends to hold up against the rest of the week. If Original Medicare’s deductible or an Advantage plan’s cost sharing changes anything about the number, we say so before it affects a session rather than after.
None of this requires knowing a diagnosis or a treatment history before the first call. A rough sense that regular conversation would help, whichever coverage ends up funding it, is a reasonable enough reason to start.
What Medicare covers here
- •Medicare places no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth, so your home counts as a permitted place to be seen.
- •In Original Medicare you pay the 2026 Part B deductible of $283 for the year, then twenty percent of the Medicare-approved amount, with no annual out-of-pocket maximum.
- •A Medigap supplement typically covers at least half of that twenty percent coinsurance, and often all of it.
- •A Medicare Advantage plan is run by a private carrier with its own network, so we verify your specific plan rather than assuming coverage from the word Medicare alone.
- •Whichever arrangement you carry, we confirm your per-session cost before your first appointment is scheduled.
How to book with Medicare

Your first session is an intake, by secure video from anywhere in New York State.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
Which is more common here, Original Medicare or an Advantage plan?
Neither by much. Madison County has 16,483 Medicare beneficiaries, 7,070 in Original Medicare and 9,413 in Advantage or another private plan. That is close enough to even that we do not guess which one you carry, which is why we ask to see the card before booking rather than assuming from the word Medicare alone.
What does a session cost me on Original Medicare in 2026?
A $283 Part B deductible for the year, then twenty percent of the Medicare-approved amount for each visit. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month. Original Medicare has no annual out-of-pocket maximum, and a Medigap supplement typically covers at least half of that coinsurance, often all of it.
And on an Advantage plan?
A private carrier sets the cost sharing and runs its own network for your plan, so the Original Medicare figures above do not describe it. We verify the specific plan printed on your card and tell you the per-session number before booking, rather than assuming coverage from the word Medicare alone.
My daughter thinks I should do this. I am not sure I agree. Is that a bad way to start?
No, and it is a common one. It is worth saying so in the first session, including the part where you are not convinced. Arriving on somebody else's suggestion is a workable place to start from, and naming it early is usually more useful than working around it.
Family therapy at MindViewDoes MindView have an Oneida office?
No. Every Oneida session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State, and Medicare places no geographic restriction on mental health telehealth. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo and Carmel, Indiana, and each is an office rather than a place clients are seen.
