Why MindView
Most therapy in Brooklyn has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Medicare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Medicare in Brooklyn, in short
MindView Therapy sees Brooklyn adults with Original Medicare by secure video anywhere in New York State. Part B covers outpatient therapy, and before your first session we confirm your exact cost share, including whether a Medigap supplement brings your part to zero. Accepting new clients now.
More than 400,000 Brooklyn residents carry Medicare, and the program covers outpatient therapy more generously than most people expect. This page explains the 80/20 arrangement in plain words, the difference between the two kinds of Medicare cards, and how to start therapy with us on yours.
Does MindView take Medicare in Brooklyn?
Yes. We treat Brooklyn adults on Original Medicare, by secure video, from anywhere in New York State.
Brooklyn is home to 412,291 people with Medicare as of the latest federal enrollment count, a bigger Medicare population than most American cities have residents. What many of them never hear is that the program treats outpatient therapy as ordinary medical care. It is covered, it needs no referral, and the annual depression screening is free.
We will also say the plain thing early: our closest office is in Jamaica, Queens, and sessions with Brooklyn clients happen by video. Medicare covers mental health telehealth from home as a permanent benefit.
The 80/20 rule, in plain words
Original Medicare splits the cost of therapy with you. First comes the Part B deductible, which Medicare set at $283 for 2026, the amount you pay yourself each year before coverage kicks in. From then on, Medicare pays 80 percent of its approved amount for every session, and your share is the remaining 20 percent.
Two things sharpen that picture. A Medigap supplement, the add-on many New Yorkers buy alongside Medicare, usually pays part or all of your 20 percent, and often quietly covers the rest, so plenty of members owe nothing per session after the deductible. And unlike most commercial insurance, Original Medicare has no yearly cap on out-of-pocket costs by itself, which is exactly why the supplement question is the first one we ask.
One limit to know before booking rather than after: Medicare pays for family or partner involvement only when it is part of treating your own condition. Counseling aimed purely at the relationship is not a Part B benefit, and we would rather tell you that here than on a statement.
Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage: which card do you hold?
Nearly six in ten Brooklyn beneficiaries, about 231,750 people, have traded Original Medicare for a private Advantage card, and the two behave differently the moment you try to book therapy. Advantage plans come from private insurers and carry their own rules and their own costs. Roughly 176,000 Brooklyn residents keep Original Medicare, and that is the coverage this page describes and the one we bill.
Not sure which you hold? That is common, and it costs nothing to find out. Tell us what your card says and we will verify the right thing. Many Brooklyn beneficiaries also qualify for other help with costs, which we take into account when we run your numbers.
Growing older in Brooklyn without going it alone
Retirement ends the daily structure. Widowhood, and adult children settling somewhere else, can shrink a week’s conversations to almost none. For a lot of older Brooklynites the days are full of people and still lonely. A standing weekly hour with a therapist is one of the few structured, covered ways to talk that Medicare pays for, whether the weight is grief and low mood or the restless worry that arrives with health scares and fixed incomes.
The same hour serves the adult son or daughter coordinating a parent’s care while working, a role nobody trains you for.
Booking with Medicare
Request a time on our booking page, or call (646) 493-4007 if you would rather begin with a voice. We answer within one business day.
Before the intake we confirm your Part B coverage, check your supplement if you have one, and give you the cost share in writing. Then therapy starts, by video, from your own kitchen or armchair, anywhere in New York State. The Brooklyn plan list in full: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.
What Medicare covers here
- •Medicare Part B covers outpatient mental health care. After the annual Part B deductible, set by Medicare at $283 for 2026, Medicare pays 80 percent of the approved amount and you owe the remaining 20 percent.
- •A Medigap supplement plan usually pays some or all of that 20 percent, which is why many members owe nothing per session once the deductible is met. Tell us if you carry one and we will factor it in.
- •Telehealth for mental health from home is a permanent Medicare benefit, and the periodic in-person visit requirement is waived through December 31, 2027. We confirm the current rules when you book.
- •Medicare requires no referral for outpatient therapy, and your yearly depression screening costs you nothing.
How to book with Medicare
- 1
Have your Medicare card nearby, and your supplement card too if you carry one. We need both to give you an accurate cost picture.
- 2
Request an appointment through our online form. If forms are not your thing, the phone works just as well.
- 3
We confirm your Part B coverage, check any Medigap contribution, and tell you your cost share before the intake.
- 4
Meet your therapist by secure video from home, weekly, at a time that stays yours.
What we treat
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Medicare questions
Does MindView Therapy accept Medicare in Brooklyn?
Yes. We accept Original Medicare and see Brooklyn clients by secure video across New York State. We do not have an office in the borough. Our nearest location is Jamaica, Queens, around 12 miles away, and Medicare covers these video sessions.
What does therapy cost with Original Medicare in 2026?
Medicare set the 2026 Part B deductible at $283. Once it is met, Medicare pays 80 percent of the approved amount for each session and you owe 20 percent. If you carry a Medigap supplement, it often covers that remaining share, and we confirm your exact numbers before your first session.
More than half of Brooklyn seniors have Medicare Advantage. Is that the same thing?
No. Advantage cards are issued by private insurers and follow their own rules, and in Brooklyn about 57 percent of beneficiaries hold one. This page describes Original Medicare, which we bill directly. Tell us which card you hold and we will check the right coverage.
Does Medicare cover therapy by video from my Brooklyn apartment?
Yes. Video therapy for mental health from home is a permanent part of Medicare, and the requirement to be seen in person periodically is waived through the end of 2027. We keep track of those rules so you do not have to.
