Why MindView
Most therapy in Geneva has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Meritain Health. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Meritain Health in Geneva, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network for Meritain Health members and sees Geneva adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Meritain administers self-funded employer plans on the Aetna network, so your card says Meritain and the network printed underneath is Aetna's. Because the employer designs the plan, two people holding the same card can owe different amounts. We check your specific plan and give you the per-session number before you book.
Ontario County has 2,895 establishments and 2,454 of them employ fewer than 20 people. Only seven employ 500 or more. Self-funding takes scale, so a Meritain card usually means a plan written well above the level of the building you clock into, and it usually means there is nobody nearby who can answer a question about it. The document can.
Two names, two jobs
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network for Meritain Health members, and Geneva adults are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. The two names on your card do two different jobs, and knowing which is which saves a phone call.
Meritain administers your plan: it processes the paperwork, pays claims, and applies the rules your employer chose. The name underneath it, usually Aetna, is the provider network your plan rents to find a therapist. One name runs the plan, the other builds the list of who is in it, and a session with MindView counts as in-network under either one.
That distinction matters less for what you book than for what you check. Call the wrong department asking about a deductible and you can spend twenty minutes on hold before someone tells you administration and network sit in different places. We check both before your first session, so that call is one we make, not one you do.
The document, and the two lines in it
Every Meritain plan comes with a summary of benefits, usually a PDF sitting in your employer’s HR portal or behind your login on the Meritain member site. It runs several pages, most of which does not apply to a therapy visit. Two lines do.
The first is the outpatient mental health line, sometimes folded into “outpatient behavioral health” or “professional services.” It states whether a copay, a coinsurance percentage, or your deductible applies to an office or telehealth visit. The second is the deductible line: the amount you owe out of pocket before coinsurance starts, and how much of it you have already met this plan year.
Read them together, because one can cancel the other out. A plan with no copay listed but an unmet deductible still bills close to the full allowed rate for a session until that deductible clears. A plan with a copay and a low or already-met deductible bills a flat, small number from the first visit. The two lines look similar on the page and produce very different bills, which is the whole reason to read both instead of one.
We are not asking you to interpret this alone. Bring what you have, or nothing at all, and we confirm the same two lines from our side before you are asked to pay anything. What changes is that you now know what those two lines are called and why they are the only ones that matter for a therapy visit, instead of scanning six pages hoping the right sentence finds you.
Where people in this county actually work
Ontario County counted 2,895 business establishments in 2023. Of those, 295 employed between 20 and 49 people, 86 employed between 50 and 99, 35 employed between 100 and 249, and a combined 23 employed 250 or more. None reported 1,000 employees or more.
That size distribution matters for one specific reason: a self-funded plan, the kind Meritain administers, generally takes real scale to run. An employer taking on its own claims risk instead of buying a packaged plan is a decision larger organizations make far more often than small ones, which is part of why a plan built this way tends to sit above the size of most Ontario County worksites rather than at it.
None of this says which specific Ontario County employer self-funds, or how many people locally carry a Meritain card. That data is not published, and this is not a claim about it. What the count does establish is a plain fact about the shape of the local job market: most working adults here clock into something smaller than the kind of organization that typically writes a plan like this one.
Talking to somebody outside the circle
Most of that job market is small on purpose here: 2,454 of Ontario County’s 2,895 establishments employ fewer than 20 people, which means a working day for a lot of people in this county runs through the same handful of co-workers, day after day, with very little turnover in who is in the room. When a working life is that small, the people you would normally tell about a hard week are often the same people the hard week is about, and that plain fact sits alongside the reason someone books a first session without being the stated reason for calling. Wanting to talk to somebody outside their own circle, someone who is not a colleague, not a boss, and not going to see you again on Monday, is one of the plainest and least dramatic reasons a person picks up the phone. That is a description of a situation, not a diagnosis of anyone in it, and it carries into a first session as context rather than as a symptom.
None of this is a claim about who in Ontario County actually works somewhere small, only about how many establishments do. It is not a claim about who carries a Meritain card, who self-funds a plan, or who feels crowded by their own workplace. What the count establishes is a real structural fact about the size of a typical Ontario County workplace, and one honest reason, among many, that a person in that kind of job reaches for a conversation with somebody who has nothing to do with who they clock in beside.
Copay, coinsurance, deductible
A copay is a flat amount you pay at each visit, unrelated to what the session actually costs. Coinsurance is a percentage of the plan’s allowed rate for a session, so the dollar amount changes with the rate itself. A deductible is the amount you owe out of pocket, across the whole plan year, before coinsurance starts paying its share.
Meritain plans mix these differently depending on what your employer chose. Some run entirely on a copay, some are coinsurance from the first visit, and some are a deductible followed by coinsurance once it clears. There is no single number that describes every card that says Meritain, because the design was made by an employer rather than sold off a shelf.
New York regulates one piece of this directly: on a New York-regulated plan, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. That rule does not reach every Meritain plan, because some employers buy coverage outside New York or self-fund it entirely, which places the plan outside state insurance law rather than under it. We check which situation applies to yours rather than assuming either one.
Whatever the mix, you are never billed for the gap between what your plan pays and what a session actually costs. The number we give you before you book is the whole number, deductible included.
From here to a first session
Adults across Geneva reach Meritain most often through an employer plan rather than something they shopped for themselves, which is exactly why this starts with the document instead of a sales pitch. People come in for anxiety, depression, stress management, and the day-to-day strain covered by general therapy, along with boundary issues and relationship struggles that a small, close-knit workplace can make harder to untangle from everything else.
Have your Meritain member ID card ready, and note the network name printed on it. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we read your plan’s summary of benefits before anything is scheduled, so the per-session cost is settled before your first appointment rather than after.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, and what you want different. You leave with a recurring weekly time and a cost you already know, not a bill you find out about later. See the Geneva location page for what else is available here, part of statewide coverage across New York.
What Meritain Health covers here
- •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible instead of the full session fee. You are never billed the difference.
- •Meritain administers self-funded employer plans and rents the Aetna network, so the provider network on your card is Aetna's.
- •Because the benefit is designed by your employer rather than sold as a retail plan, two people holding the same card can owe different amounts per session.
- •On New York-regulated plans your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay, though that rule does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or self-funds entirely.
- •We read your summary of benefits before your first session and tell you the number it produces, deductible included.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Meritain Health questions
My card says Meritain but the network says Aetna. Which am I?
Both, and it is not a mistake. For Geneva members, your employer funds the plan, Meritain administers it, and the provider network printed underneath is Aetna's. For booking purposes we are in-network for you either way, and we verify against what your specific employer plan sets before your first session.
Which document actually answers what a session costs?
The summary of benefits for your Meritain plan. Find the outpatient mental health line and the deductible line and read them together, because one of them can make the other irrelevant for your first several sessions. It usually takes about a minute once you know where to look, and we walk through it with you if you would rather not read it alone.
I work somewhere small and there is nobody to ask. Is that normal here?
Very. In Ontario County, 2,454 of the 2,895 establishments counted employ fewer than 20 people. That is not evidence about who self-funds a plan or who carries a Meritain card specifically, but it does mean most people have no benefits office down the hall, which is exactly why we run the check ourselves.
Everyone I work with knows everyone. Is that a reason to talk to someone outside it?
It is one of the ordinary reasons people book a first session, Meritain card or otherwise. When a working life runs through the same handful of co-workers every day, the people you would normally tell about something are often the people it involves. Nothing about booking goes through an employer, and sessions happen by secure video from wherever you are in New York State.
Does MindView have a Geneva office?
No. Every Geneva session happens by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo, and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
