Why MindView
Most therapy in Geneva has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Cigna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Cigna in Geneva, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network with Cigna and sees Geneva adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Cigna has no New York network of its own, and Ontario County sits outside the twenty-eight counties carrying New York-situs Cigna group business, so a Cigna card here comes from a national employer plan the employer funds itself. New York's cost-sharing rule may not reach it. We confirm which kind of plan you hold and give you the number before booking.
The entire individual insurance market in Ontario County is 1,884 people, and Cigna is not one of the plans sold into it. Ontario also sits outside the twenty-eight counties carrying New York-situs Cigna group business. So a Cigna card in Geneva came through work, on a plan written once for a whole workforce spread across many states. That is what makes local advice about it unreliable, however confidently it is given.
One route into Ontario County
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Cigna, and Geneva adults are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. Cigna does not run its own New York network the way some other payers do. New York-situs Cigna group business runs on a twenty-eight-county network, and Ontario County is not one of the twenty-eight.
That leaves one route into a Cigna card here: a national self-funded plan, written by an employer and administered under Cigna’s name rather than sold on a New York exchange or shelf. If your card reads Cigna in Geneva, that is almost certainly the plan behind it, and it changes how we check what you owe.
We are not going to explain the corporate mechanics behind that arrangement, because they are not useful to you and they are not the point of this. What matters on your end is simpler: tell us what your card says, and we look up the actual plan document behind it rather than assuming what a Cigna plan typically does. The twenty-eight-county detail exists here only so that nobody in Geneva is told a locally sold Cigna plan is available when it is not.
An individual market of 1,884 people
The entire on-exchange individual insurance market in Ontario County is small, 1,884 qualified health plan enrollees as of August 2026, split 1,047 in standard plans and 837 in non-standard ones. Cigna is not among the issuers selling into that market at all. Nobody in Ontario County buys an individual Cigna policy off an exchange, because there is not one on offer there.
That figure does not describe how many Cigna cards exist in Geneva, and it is not evidence of that. What it establishes is the shape of the only path available: since the individual market here carries no Cigna option, a Cigna card in Ontario County arrived through an employer, not through personal shopping. Everything that follows below traces back to that single fact.
It is worth being direct about what the 1,884 figure does not tell us. It does not say what share of Ontario County residents carry employer coverage generally, and it does not say how common Cigna specifically is among that group. On-exchange enrollment and employer-sponsored enrollment are counted separately and never published together at the county level, so nobody can honestly cite a combined number. We are not going to guess at one here.
One document, many states
A national self-funded plan is written once, by one employer, for an entire workforce that may be spread across a dozen states. The plan document does not change by zip code. Someone holding it in Geneva and a colleague holding the identical plan in a different state entirely are reading the same benefit, the same deductible structure, and the same list of what is and is not covered.
That uniformity is exactly why a confident local answer about a Cigna plan is often wrong. A neighbor’s memory of what they paid, a former coworker’s guess, or a general rule about “how Cigna works” describes a specific employer’s document, not Cigna as a company, and it may not describe yours at all even if the card looks the same. We do not reason from what a Cigna plan usually does. We read the plan you actually hold and report what it says.
That also means we cannot quote a copay or a deductible from the word Cigna alone, the way we sometimes can for a plan sold with one fixed design. Two Ontario County households holding the same-looking card can be on different plan options through the same employer, or on different employers entirely, with different cost sharing attached to each. The number only becomes real once we look up the specific plan.
The threshold that does not exist
That same Ontario County figure, 1,884 people in the on-exchange individual market with no Cigna plan among them, points at something past the paperwork. A Cigna card that arrived through a job tends to get filed mentally as a work benefit, and people bring a workplace instinct to benefits filed that way: don’t use it unless things are clearly bad enough to justify it. That instinct sits alongside the reason someone books a first session without being the stated reason for calling, and it carries into a first session as a kind of hesitation nobody puts into words. There is no threshold to clear before an intake, and saying that plainly removes a barrier that was always about how the coverage arrived, not about the person holding it.
None of this is a claim about how many Geneva households specifically hesitate before calling, which is not something we can measure and will not guess at. It is a plain description of what a work-attached benefit tends to do to how people think about using it, regardless of who they are or what brought them to consider therapy in the first place.
Copay, coinsurance, deductible
A copay is a flat amount you pay for a session, set by your plan. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed cost that you owe instead of a flat number. A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket before your plan’s cost sharing starts covering its share at all. All three are common shapes for a self-funded employer plan to use, sometimes in combination.
New York State requires that on New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than a primary-care copay. That rule reaches plans regulated in New York. It does not automatically reach a plan an employer funds itself or purchases outside New York, which describes most of the Cigna coverage held in Ontario County. Rather than promise the rule applies, we check which kind of plan you hold and tell you plainly what does and does not follow from that.
None of this changes what a session ever costs beyond what your plan sets. You are never billed the difference between your session cost and our fee. The only work left is confirming, for your specific plan, which of copay, coinsurance, or deductible applies, and what number attaches to it.
A deductible resets on whatever date your employer’s plan year begins, which is not always January 1. If you have already met it through other medical costs earlier in the year, only your coinsurance percentage may apply going forward, without another deductible amount stacked on top. That is exactly the kind of detail a general answer about Cigna cannot give you and a look at your actual plan can.
Booking a first session
Adults 18 and older in Geneva reach Cigna through a workplace plan and come in for anxiety, depression, everyday stress management, and the pressures covered by work-related counseling. Others are navigating a life transition that has nothing to do with a diagnosis and everything to do with wanting a place to work through it.
MindView has no office in Geneva, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. See the Geneva location page for the full list of plans covered here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
Have your Cigna card ready and book online; it takes about 30 seconds. We read your specific plan, not a general assumption about Cigna, and tell you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the background that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. From there, you set a recurring weekly time, with the cost already settled.
What Cigna covers here
- •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible instead of the full session fee. You are never billed the difference.
- •Cigna has no New York network of its own here. The only route into Ontario County is a national plan an employer funds itself, written once for a workforce spread across many states.
- •Because the plan is self-funded and national, a colleague's experience or a local rule of thumb is not reliable evidence about your specific benefit. We read your plan directly instead.
- •New York's rule that a therapy copay cannot exceed a primary-care copay applies to New York-regulated plans. It may not reach a plan your employer buys outside New York or funds itself, so we confirm which kind you hold.
- •We verify your plan and give you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
How to book with Cigna
- 1
Have your Cigna member ID card ready.
- 2
Book online. It takes about 30 seconds.
- 3
We read your specific plan document rather than reasoning from a general Cigna rule, and tell you the per-session cost, deductible included.
- 4
Your first session is an intake, by secure video from anywhere in New York State.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Cigna questions
Can I buy a Cigna plan for myself in Ontario County?
No. Cigna has no New York network of its own, and Ontario County sits outside the twenty-eight counties that carry New York-situs Cigna group business. Here, the only route to a Cigna card is a national plan an employer funds itself, so if you hold one, it came through a workplace rather than something you shopped for individually.
A colleague told me what therapy costs on our plan. Can I rely on that?
Only if you hold the exact same plan option at the exact same point in the plan year, which often is not the case. A national self-funded plan is written once for a whole workforce and then offered in several options, so two people at the same employer can land on different terms. We verify your plan directly rather than reasoning from someone else's.
Does New York's copay rule apply to my plan?
On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than a primary-care copay. A plan your employer funds itself, or buys outside New York, sits outside that rule. We confirm which kind of plan you hold rather than assuming the rule applies before checking.
Do things have to be bad enough before I book?
No. There is no threshold to clear, and an intake is not a claim on something scarce. Its job is to work out what is going on and what you want different, which is a reasonable thing to do early rather than something to wait on.
Does MindView have a Geneva office?
No. Every Geneva session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York State. Our offices are in Queens, Buffalo, and Carmel, Indiana, and they are offices rather than places clients are seen.
