Why MindView

Most therapy in Brooklyn has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Univera Healthcare. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Univera Healthcare in Brooklyn, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Univera Healthcare, and members in Brooklyn, including young adults still on a parent's upstate plan, see us by secure video anywhere in New York State. We verify your Univera coverage and confirm your cost before the first session. Accepting new clients now.

A Univera card in Brooklyn usually has a story attached. Often it belongs to someone in their early twenties whose coverage still lives with a parent upstate, sometimes to a recent arrival who has not switched plans yet. Both can start therapy here this week, and this page walks through how the coverage works from a borough away.

Does MindView take Univera Healthcare in Brooklyn?

Yes. Univera members anywhere in New York State can see us by secure video, and Brooklyn is where a surprising number of them turn out to be.

We will spare you the address hunt: no Brooklyn office, nearest one in Jamaica, Queens, sessions by video. For the reader this page has in mind, someone whose whole life just changed boroughs, that setup is usually the workable one.

Under 26, on a parent’s plan, and 400 miles from home

Around a hundred and ten thousand people wake up in Brooklyn each year who were not living here twelve months earlier, and plenty of them are still insured through a parent four hundred miles away. If your coverage is a Univera plan your mother or father carries upstate, here is the part nobody told you at graduation: it still works. Federal law keeps dependents on a parent’s plan until age 26, wherever the dependent actually lives, and video therapy anywhere in New York State is a covered way to use it.

No waiting for your own benefits to kick in, no switching plans mid-year, no explaining to anyone why. The card in the family drawer upstate is enough to start therapy in Brooklyn this week.

What Univera plans charge for therapy

Univera designs vary by how the plan was bought. Employer versions set their own numbers, and many use a simple flat copay for a therapy session. Individual plans bought on the marketplace track New York’s standard cost-sharing chart instead. Rather than pretend one figure covers everyone, we verify the actual plan and hand you your number before the intake.

One planning fact worth keeping: deductibles and copay counters reset every January 1. If you are weighing when to begin weekly sessions, the calendar is quietly part of the math, and we are happy to think it through with you.

Building an adult life in a borough of new arrivals

First lease, first job, first time managing money and meals with no backup in the next room. Nobody frames early adulthood as a mental health event, but the first unaccompanied year has all the ingredients: a new borough where everyone seems already settled, friendships that have to be built from zero, and a quiet loneliness that does not photograph well.

Therapy is a strange thing to be glad you have coverage for, and exactly the thing the family plan already pays toward. Whether the presenting issue is anxiety that arrived with the lease or attention that will not organize a new life, a weekly hour of structured attention on your own becoming is a reasonable use of being 24.

Booking is the easy part

The Brooklyn roster in one breath: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.

Pick a clinician on the booking page, request a time, and we handle verification, cost confirmation, and scheduling from there. Or call (646) 493-4007 and say the words “I’m on my parent’s plan”; we hear them weekly, and we answer within one business day.

What Univera Healthcare covers here

  • Univera Healthcare is a Western New York nonprofit plan, held through an employer, bought individually, or carried as a dependent on a family plan. All of those work for video therapy statewide.
  • Federal law keeps dependents on a parent's health plan until age 26, no matter where in the country the dependent actually lives. A video session in Brooklyn counts the same as one upstate.
  • Cost sharing varies by plan design. Many designs use a flat copay for therapy, and individual marketplace plans follow New York's standard cost-sharing chart. We verify yours rather than quoting a universal number.
  • Benefits and copays reset every January 1, worth knowing when you are pacing out weekly sessions. Univera Medicare members should tell us the exact plan name on their card so we verify the right coverage.

How to book with Univera Healthcare

  1. 1

Get the card, or a photo of it from whoever holds the family plan. The member ID is what we need.

  2. 2

Request a clinician and a time on our booking page. It is a couple of minutes of clicking, built for people who hate forms.

  3. 3

We verify the Univera plan, confirm what a session will cost you, and send the figure before your intake.

  4. 4

Start weekly secure-video sessions from your Brooklyn apartment, or anywhere else in New York State.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Univera Healthcare questions

I am 24, in Brooklyn, and on my mom's Univera plan from upstate. Can I use it for therapy?

Yes. Federal law keeps you on a parent's health plan until you turn 26, and a video session in your Brooklyn apartment counts the same as one in your hometown. We are in-network with Univera, we verify the plan first, and you never need to travel upstate to use it.

Does MindView take Univera Healthcare in Brooklyn?

Yes, by telehealth across New York State. We keep no office in the borough, the nearest is in Jamaica, Queens, and Univera members in Brooklyn meet their therapist by secure video.

Will my parents find out what I talk about in therapy?

What you say in session is confidential, period. Be aware that an insurance statement mailed home can show that a visit happened, but never a word of what was said in it. If that matters to you, raise it with us before your first session and we will talk through your options plainly.

What will a session cost on Univera?

It depends on the plan design. Many Univera designs use a flat copay for therapy, and marketplace versions follow the state's standard chart. Benefits reset each January 1. We verify the actual plan, whoever holds it, and tell you your number before you commit.

You do not have to figure this out alone. Booking takes about 30 seconds.
