Why MindView

Most therapy in Manhattan has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Optum. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Optum in Manhattan, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Optum for Manhattan adults, whether Optum runs your plan's mental health benefit or your employer's assistance program with its allotment of free sessions. We sequence the authorization, the coverage, and the cost correctly before session one, by secure video statewide. Accepting new clients now.

Manhattan is saturated with Optum coverage that its owners have never used. It hides on the mental health line of employer cards and inside assistance programs whose free sessions expire annually, untouched. This page shows you what you are holding and how to convert it into an actual weekly appointment.

Does MindView take Optum in Manhattan?

Yes, in every form Optum takes in a Manhattan wallet. Sessions run by secure video anywhere in New York State; our nearest office sits in Jamaica, Queens, and borough clients meet us virtually.

If you are unsure whether you even have Optum, keep reading, because the odds are better than you think.

Three ways Optum reaches your wallet

The first is invisible: Optum runs the mental health benefit behind many employer health plans, so the front of your card names the plan while the therapy side answers to Optum. The second is the assistance program, an employer perk granting free therapy sessions. The third is the pharmacy line, Optum Rx, which matters at the pharmacy counter and not here.

For therapy, the first two both land at the same booking page. Nothing needs untangling on your side; we read whichever card or letter you produce and verify what it carries.

The authorization code that must come first

Somewhere in your benefits portal is an allotment of free therapy sessions that resets every year whether you touch it or not. The mechanics are concrete: an assistance program typically grants three to eight sessions per issue per year at zero cost, activated by an authorization code requested from the number your portal lists.

The sequencing rule is the whole game. Code Tuesday, book Wednesday, and the sessions are free. Book first and they bill as ordinary visits. When the allotment ends, your regular cost share picks up seamlessly with the same clinician, at a figure we hand you before the handoff.

Well-insured, rarely used

Manhattan may be the best-insured square mile in America, with nearly six in ten residents on employer coverage and almost nobody uninsured. The census puts employer coverage at 955,767 people, 57.8 percent of the borough, with just 4 percent uninsured.

The gap is not coverage, it is collection. Collecting a benefit your compensation already includes is not self-indulgence; it is payroll arithmetic. If worry has become the background process that never quits or attention keeps sliding off the task in front of you, the free first sessions exist precisely to lower the threshold for starting.

Booking with Optum

Manhattan’s full plan slate: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.

Bring us anything with Optum on it via the booking page, or call (646) 493-4007. We verify, sequence the code if one applies, confirm your cost, and set the weekly hour. Response time, one business day.

What Optum covers here

  • Optum reaches most members through another card, running the mental health benefit behind an employer health plan. A directory that says Optum while your card says otherwise is describing one membership, not two.
  • Employer assistance programs through Optum include a set allotment of therapy sessions at no cost, commonly three to eight per issue per year, arranged with an authorization code.
  • The code has to exist before your first appointment for the sessions to be free. We help you sequence it, code first, booking second.
  • When an allotment ends, your regular plan's cost share continues with the same clinician, and you hear that number from us before the transition, not on a statement.

How to book with Optum

  1. 1

Check your benefits portal for the assistance program line, or just find whatever card or letter mentions Optum.

  2. 2

If free sessions apply, call the number your portal lists and request the authorization code, a five-minute errand we can talk you through.

  3. 3

Request a clinician on our booking page; we verify what your Optum coverage includes and confirm your cost, zero or otherwise, before the intake.

  4. 4

Meet weekly by secure video anywhere in New York, with the coverage handoff mapped before you ever reach it.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Optum questions

Does MindView Therapy take Optum in Manhattan?

Yes, in both forms it takes. Whether Optum runs the mental health side of your employer plan or your workplace assistance program, we are in-network, and Manhattan adults meet us by secure video anywhere in New York State. Nearest office, Jamaica, Queens.

My company lists an Optum EAP I have never touched. How do I use it here?

Find the assistance program number in your benefits portal, call it, and request an authorization code for outpatient therapy. Bring that code to us before your first session and the allotted sessions cost you nothing. We can walk you through the call if the portal defeats you.

What happens when my free EAP sessions run out?

Care continues without interruption. The same clinician, the same weekly slot, billed from then on at your regular plan's cost share, a figure we confirm and send you before the switch happens. No gap, no surprise.

My card says UnitedHealthcare, the directory says Optum. Am I in the right place?

Yes. Optum operates the mental health benefit behind many employer plans, so the two names describe one membership. Hand us whichever card you hold and we verify from there.

You do not have to figure this out alone. Booking takes about 30 seconds.
