Why MindView
Most therapy in Saratoga Springs has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Meritain Health. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Meritain Health in Saratoga Springs, in short
MindView Therapy is in-network for Meritain Health members and sees Saratoga Springs adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. Meritain administers plans that employers fund themselves and rents the Aetna network to do it, so your card reads Meritain while the provider network printed on it is Aetna's. Because your employer designed the benefit, the cost per session is specific to your plan. We read it and tell you the number first.
Saratoga County held 5,488 business establishments in 2023, and 4,703 of them employed fewer than twenty people. Ten employed 500 or more. A Meritain card is issued against one of those employers' own plan designs, which is why two people living in the same city and holding the same card can owe very different amounts for the same appointment. Averages are close to useless here, so we read the plan instead.
Does MindView take Meritain Health in Saratoga Springs?
Yes. We are in-network for Meritain Health members, and Saratoga Springs adults are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State, with no in-person option or requirement anywhere. Meritain administers plans that employers fund themselves, and it does so by renting the Aetna provider network, which is the network we belong to.
We read your specific employer plan before you book, then confirm the per-session cost, deductible and all. Since a Meritain benefit is entirely employer-designed, that check is the only reliable way to give you an accurate figure rather than a rough one.
The card says Meritain and the network says Aetna
This is the single most useful fact about the card, so it is worth stating plainly. Meritain is the administrator, the company processing your employer’s self-funded plan. The provider network printed on the card underneath that name is Aetna’s, because Meritain rents Aetna’s network rather than building its own.
Both facts are true on the same card at once. It is not an error, and it does not mean you hold two different kinds of insurance. For booking purposes, the practical answer is simple: whichever name is printed where, we verify your coverage under it and tell you what it means for your session, without you having to sort out the naming yourself first.
Five thousand employers, five thousand plan designs
Saratoga County held 5,488 business establishments as of the 2023 County Business Patterns count. Of those, 4,703, or 85.7 percent, employed fewer than twenty people. On the other end, 545 employed 20 to 49, 136 employed 50 to 99, 76 employed 100 to 249, 18 employed 250 to 499, and exactly ten establishments in the entire county employed 500 or more.
A Meritain card is issued against one specific employer’s plan design out of that entire range, from a business with a handful of employees to one of the ten largest in the county. Nothing about that spread tells us who uses Meritain specifically. What it does tell us is how wide the range of possible plan designs actually is, which is the whole reason an average figure would be misleading here.
Picture the two ends of that range side by side. A ten-person business and a five-hundred-person employer can both offer a benefit that ends up printed with the same Meritain name and the same Aetna network logo, and still land on entirely different copay amounts, coinsurance percentages, and deductible thresholds. The name on the card tells you almost nothing about which end of that range your specific plan sits on.
A workplace this size, the kind behind 85.7 percent of Saratoga County’s establishments, runs differently when it comes to noticing who is out and when. A coworker mentions a doctor’s visit in passing and everyone remembers it by Friday, and a desk empty at the same time every week gets a question attached to it eventually. None of that changes what a Meritain card covers. It changes whether someone can find an hour without a colleague noticing, and whether a weekly session stays private in a business this small.
Working at a small Saratoga County establishment does not mean therapy is out of reach, and a small headcount is not itself a reason anyone needs care. It means that for a lot of people booking here, the plan already answers the cost question, so what actually gets planned around is discretion, not money.
Why your coworker’s number is not your number
Because cost sharing on a self-funded plan is set entirely by the employer, two people holding an identical-looking Meritain card at two different companies, or even at the same company on different plan tiers, can owe genuinely different amounts for the same session. One might pay a flat copay. Another might be working through a deductible with coinsurance behind it.
A copay is a fixed dollar amount per visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the visit cost, applying once a deductible is met. A deductible itself is what you pay before the plan starts sharing costs at all. Which combination governs your plan is not something we guess at from the employer’s size or industry. We look it up.
A deductible resets on the plan’s own annual cycle, a date the employer sets rather than an automatic January reset. Booking later in that cycle, once other medical costs have already worked against a deductible, can land on a lower cost than the identical visit would carry earlier in the cycle. Neither timing is wrong, but knowing which part of the plan year you are in helps explain the number before it arrives on a bill.
Finding your own figure does not require decoding the plan yourself. The benefits summary your employer distributed at enrollment, or the number on the back of the Meritain card, connects to the specific terms tied to your coverage. We read the same information independently once you book, so the number you are told is confirmed rather than estimated.
Where the New York copay rule may not reach
New York State law caps a therapy copay at no more than the primary care office visit copay, on policies regulated under New York insurance law. It is a real protection, and it applies to plenty of commercial coverage in this state.
Many Meritain plans, though, are designed and funded directly by the employer rather than bought as a standard New York-regulated policy, and self-funded plans of that kind are not automatically bound by the state cap. We do not assume either way. Checking whether your specific plan falls under the rule is part of the same benefits verification that produces your actual copay number.
“Self-funded” is not a label most members ever see printed on their own card, so there is usually no way to tell from the outside which kind of plan you hold. Company size does not predict it reliably either, a small employer can hold a plan bound by the New York cap and a large one can hold a plan that is not, or the reverse. That uncertainty is exactly why we check the specific plan rather than answer from a general rule.
Who books here
Adults 18 and older in Saratoga Springs carry Meritain cards through employers across the county’s wide range of establishment sizes, and come to MindView for anxiety, depression, burnout, the pressures covered by work-related counseling, and navigating life transitions. No two Meritain households in this queue necessarily arrived through the same kind of employer.
MindView has no office in Saratoga Springs, and every session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. The Saratoga Springs location page lists every plan we take here, part of our statewide New York coverage.
You do not need a diagnosis in hand to book, and there is no separate sign-off from your employer required beyond the coverage itself. A general sense that something has become harder to manage than it used to be is a reasonable enough reason to start.
Booking on a Meritain card
Have your Meritain Health card ready, and note the network name printed on it. Book online; it takes about 30 seconds, and we verify the rest.
We check your specific employer plan and tell you the per-session cost, deductible included, before anything is scheduled. A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought you in, the history that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against.
What Meritain Health covers here
- •Your card reads Meritain, and the provider network printed underneath it is Aetna's. Both are correct at once, and it is not a mistake on your card.
- •Meritain plans are employer benefits only. There is no marketplace plan to shop for and nothing to buy directly.
- •Cost sharing is entirely employer-set, which is why two holders of the same card can land on different copays, different coinsurance percentages, and very different deductibles.
- •A copay is a fixed amount per visit, coinsurance is a percentage of the visit cost, and a deductible is what you pay before the plan starts sharing costs. Which one governs your plan is a fact we look up.
- •Many Meritain plans are designed and funded directly by the employer, so New York's cost-share cap on therapy copays may not reach every plan. We check rather than assume it applies.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Meritain Health questions
My card says Meritain but the network logo says Aetna. Which one am I?
Both, and it is not an error. Meritain administers the plan your employer funds, and the provider network printed on the card is Aetna's. For booking purposes, we are in-network for you either way. Bring the card exactly as printed and we verify against what your specific employer plan sets.
Why would my neighbor in Saratoga Springs pay a different amount on the same card?
Because a self-funded plan is designed by one employer rather than bought off a shelf. Saratoga County has 5,488 business establishments, 4,703 of them with fewer than twenty employees and only ten with 500 or more. A different employer means a different plan design, and a different design means a different copay, coinsurance rate, or deductible.
Is my therapy copay capped at my primary care copay?
Not necessarily, and the honest answer matters here. New York's cost-share cap applies to New York-regulated policies, and a plan your employer designs and funds itself can sit outside it. We check your specific plan rather than assume the cap applies, so you get an accurate number instead of a hopeful one.
Can I buy a Meritain plan myself?
No. Meritain coverage arrives as an employer benefit and is never sold on the marketplace. What is actionable is what happens next, if the card is in hand, we verify what it owes for a session before you book, regardless of how the coverage came to you.
What does the first session actually involve?
An intake rather than treatment. What brought you in, the history that matters to it, what you want different, and a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get checked against. A recurring weekly time gets set before you finish, once your plan's cost is already confirmed.
