Does this sound like you?

  • I am stable right now, and I want to keep it that way.
  • I have a prescriber, and I want a therapist too.
  • I want a steady, regular appointment I can count on.
  • I want to work on goals that matter to me, not just my symptoms.
  • I want someone who will not be thrown by my history.
  • I want care I can access from home.

You do not have to be in crisis to start. If several of these sound familiar, therapy can help.

If several of these sound familiar, that is worth talking about.

Who is this service for?

This service is for adults whose serious mental illness is already stabilized and who want steady, ongoing talk therapy as part of their care.

The term serious mental illness is used by the National Institute of Mental Health to describe mental illness that substantially interferes with major life activities. Many people living with it are stable, working, and connected to a treatment team.

If that describes you, this is a service designed for you rather than around you.

What does MindView provide, and what does it not?

MindView provides supportive talk therapy. Sessions focus on consistency, coping skills, and the goals you bring, whether those are about work, relationships, routine, or staying well.

We want to be plain about the limits.

  • We do not prescribe medication. With your written consent, your therapist can coordinate with the prescriber you already see.
  • We are not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.
  • We are not an acute or inpatient program. This service assumes you are already stabilized.

Being clear about scope is not a barrier. It is how you get care that actually fits.

What does the work look like?

The structure is the same for everyone here.

Session 1 is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, about your history, and about your current care team. You rate how you are doing on a 0 to 10 scale. That number becomes the baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

Session 2 is a psychosocial assessment. Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and the strengths that have carried you. You can decline any question you do not want to answer.

Session 3 is the treatment plan. You build it together. Goals are tied to staying well and to the concerns you bring, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you and has nothing to do with a diagnosis.

Then you meet on a consistent, predictable schedule. For many people, that regularity is the point. Sessions may cover coping skills, daily structure, relationships, stress, or navigating work and family. Once a month you and your therapist review progress using standardized measures, and the plan is adjusted based on what they show.

You are not treated as a diagnosis. You are treated as an adult with goals, working with a therapist who is not thrown by your history.

How does coordination with my care team work?

Only with your written consent, and only as far as you want it to go.

If you already have a prescriber, a case manager, or another provider, your therapist can share information with them so everyone is working from the same picture. This is common and it is often useful.

It is also entirely your call. You decide who we speak to and what is shared, and you can change that at any time. Nothing is released without your signed authorization.

If you do not have a prescriber or other providers, that is a conversation to have with your therapist in the first session so you can decide together what a good setup looks like for you.

What does scheduling look like?

Most people meet weekly or every other week, on a set day and time. Consistency is a deliberate part of this service rather than an afterthought.

Sessions are typically around 45 to 55 minutes. If your schedule changes, or if you need to step down to a less frequent cadence, your therapist will work that out with you rather than treating it as a problem.

You are not on a clock. This service is designed for ongoing support, not a fixed number of sessions.

How do I get started?

We are in-network with most major plans, including Medicare in New York. Coverage depends on your plan and your location, and we confirm your benefits before your first session.

Sessions are available at our Jamaica, Queens office, our Buffalo office, and by telehealth across New York and Indiana, including Carmel. We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day.

If you are unsure whether this service is the right fit, call us and ask. We will tell you honestly.

Who is this for?

  • Adults with a stabilized serious mental illness seeking ongoing support
  • People who want consistent, coordinated care
  • Anyone looking to maintain progress and wellbeing

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Session 1: Intake

The first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in, about your history, and about your current care team. You rate how you are doing on a 0 to 10 scale, which becomes the baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Session 2: Psychosocial

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and the strengths that have carried you. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Session 3: Treatment plan

You build the plan together. Goals are tied to staying well and to the concerns you bring, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you and is not tied to a diagnosis.

  4. Ongoing

Regular sessions work the plan: coping skills, daily structure, and the goals you set. Once a month you review progress with standardized measures, and the plan is adjusted based on what they show. MindView does not prescribe medication and is not a crisis service.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a Psycho-Measurement-Based Care Review (PMBCR). You complete standardized measures, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

You do not have to figure this out alone.

What happens in the first session?

You and your therapist talk about your history, your current care team, and what you want from therapy. Your therapist will also be clear about what this service includes and what it does not.

What does this service involve, and how long does it last?

Ongoing, supportive talk therapy focused on consistency, coping skills, and the goals you bring. There is no fixed end point. Your therapist reviews your goals with you over time.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

You do not need to bring paperwork or a formal diagnosis to book. This service is designed for adults who are already stabilized and connected to care, so your therapist will ask about your current treatment team in the first session.

Can I do this by telehealth, and how soon can I start?

Yes. Telehealth is available across New York and Indiana. We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day.

Do you prescribe medication or provide crisis care?

No. MindView provides talk therapy only and is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room. With your written consent, your therapist can coordinate with your prescriber.
