Why MindView
Most therapy in Levittown has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Optum. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Optum in Levittown, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Optum and sees Levittown adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Optum is the behavioral health network that manages the therapy benefit sitting inside a medical plan. Knowing that you have Optum tells us we can see you. It does not tell us what you owe, because the plan behind it sets that. We need both names before we can give you a number.
There are two names in play whenever someone asks what therapy costs on an Optum benefit, and most people only know one of them. Health care and social assistance employs 3,950 working Levittown residents, 14.5 percent of everyone with a job, against 18.1 percent across Nassau County and 17.6 percent statewide. A smaller share than either, which is worth saying because there is no local shortcut here.
Two names, and you probably know one
Two names are involved whenever a therapy visit gets billed on an Optum benefit, and most members have only met one of them. It usually turns up on a letter, an explanation of benefits, or a portal login screen, printed in the corner as Optum or Optum Behavioral Health. That name answers a real question. It is not the question most people actually want answered first.
The second name is the medical plan itself, the one an employer chose or an individual bought during enrollment. It is the plan, not the network sitting behind it, that decides what a Levittown resident actually owes for a session. A member can know the first name cold and still have no idea what the second one is about to charge.
Treating those as two separate questions is the point of everything below, because they have two separate answers. Confusing them is the most common way an Optum member ends up surprised by a bill that has nothing to do with whether a provider was in-network at all.
A member typically meets Optum’s name first, on the therapy claim itself or in a portal search for an in-network provider. The plan’s name usually comes from somewhere else entirely: an employee benefits packet, a marketplace enrollment confirmation, or the card carried in a wallet since open enrollment. Neither document explains the other on its own.
The one that answers whether we can see you
MindView Therapy is in-network with Optum, and Levittown adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. Optum is the behavioral health network that manages the therapy side of a UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health Plans, or UMR benefit. It is not a plan a member buys on its own. It is the piece that determines which providers a member’s therapy benefit actually reaches.
Nassau County sits inside the fourteen New York counties Oxford Health Plans serves, so an Oxford card can route its behavioral health benefit through Optum the same way a UnitedHealthcare or UMR card does. Whichever of those three names sits on the front of a card, the practical question is the same: does the network reach us. For a Levittown member holding any of them, the answer is yes.
Knowing that answer is genuinely useful, and it is also where Optum’s job stops. Being in-network settles whether a provider can be booked at all. It says nothing about the size of a copay, whether a deductible has been met, or what percentage of the visit a plan covers once it has. That is a different name’s job, covered next.
The one that decides what you owe
A copay is a flat amount owed at each visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the visit’s cost owed once a deductible has been met. A deductible is the amount paid out of pocket before a plan starts sharing the cost at all. Every Optum-routed member owes some combination of the three, and which combination applies was set by the medical plan, not by Optum.
That is why two Levittown members can both carry an Optum-managed benefit and owe entirely different amounts for the same session. One plan design might set a flat copay with no deductible attached to outpatient therapy. Another might apply a deductible first and shift to coinsurance only once it is met. Optum sitting behind both tells nobody which of the two a specific member is in.
New York State does set one protection worth knowing before assuming nothing applies: on New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than a primary care copay. That rule does not reach every plan an Optum network sits behind, since coverage an employer buys or self-funds outside New York can fall outside it. We do not assume the rule covers a specific plan. We confirm it, along with everything else, before quoting anyone a number.
The practical answer is the same one given to every Optum member: bring the card, and the specific plan behind it gets checked before the first session is scheduled. That is the only way a real number, rather than a guess based on what other members with the same network name have paid, ever gets attached to an appointment.
A deductible resets once a year, on whatever date a plan year begins, which is not always January 1. If a member has already met it through other medical costs by the time they book, only the coinsurance percentage may apply from that point forward, without an extra deductible amount stacked on top. Once combined out-of-pocket spending reaches a plan’s yearly maximum, cost sharing for covered care typically stops for the rest of that plan year. We check where a member stands against both before quoting anyone a number.
14.5 percent, and why there is no local shortcut
Health care and social assistance employs 3,950 of the 27,172 employed Levittown CDP residents counted in the 2020-2024 American Community Survey, 14.5 percent of everyone with a job. That share sits below both comparison points: 18.1 percent across Nassau County and 17.6 percent statewide. Levittown residents work in health care and social assistance, on the whole, at a lower rate than their county or their state.
That headcount, 3,950, is worth keeping separate from the percentage next to it. A share can sit below the county’s while the underlying number still represents thousands of working Levittown neighbors, and both facts are true at once without contradicting each other.
That gap matters for a specific reason. Somebody who spends a working life inside health care and social assistance, filing claims, checking eligibility, or explaining benefits for a living, picks up a professional shortcut to understanding how a network like Optum relates to the medical plan sitting behind it. A smaller share of the Levittown workforce holds that shortcut than the share holding it across Nassau County or New York State as a whole.
None of this is a claim about which Levittown households specifically understand their own Optum benefit, which a workforce statistic cannot measure and is not guessed at. A lower health care employment share does not mean confusion is more common in Levittown, and it is not evidence about income, need, or how anyone actually uses their coverage.
What the figure does establish is narrower and more useful: there is no reason to assume the average Levittown household already knows how a network name and a plan name interact, simply because fewer residents work inside the industry that would teach it on the job. That is the honest reason the distinction gets explained plainly, not a claim about the community holding the card.
For the 3,950 Levittown residents who do work in health care and social assistance, a rotating shift and a phone that keeps ringing after clocking out are just part of the job, and a caregiver’s own stress tends to get treated as background noise next to the patients or clients they are looking after all day. A weekly session is often the first standing appointment that kind of week breaks, which is exactly why a smaller health care workforce share here doesn’t mean fewer people in it need one.
Working in health care does not mean burnout is inevitable, and a demanding shift on its own is not a reason to start therapy. It means that for people in this sector, the obstacle is usually logistics, not motivation.
Levittown is a census-designated place inside the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, not an incorporated village, and it has no municipal government of its own. That geography matters specifically because every percentage above describes Levittown itself, not the surrounding county or state, except where a comparison figure is labeled Nassau County or New York State.
What to have in front of you when you book
Have whichever card applies ready, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health Plans, or UMR, and note the name printed on the front. Book online in about 30 seconds. The specific plan behind the card gets verified from there, and the per-session cost is confirmed before anything is scheduled.
A first session is an intake rather than treatment: what brought a client in, the background that matters to it, and what they want different, checked against a baseline reading using standardized measures that later sessions get compared to. From there, a recurring weekly time gets set, with the cost already settled ahead of it.
MindView has no Levittown office, and every session runs by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York. The scope here is intentionally adults 18 and older; a younger household member covered by the same Optum-managed plan needs a different resource for care.
Levittown adults commonly come in for anxiety, trouble with sleep, and building practical coping skills, alongside depression and burnout care. See the Levittown location page for the full list of plans covered there, part of MindView’s statewide New York coverage.
What Optum covers here
- •Optum is the behavioral health network behind UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health Plans and UMR. It answers whether we are in-network, not what a session costs.
- •Your medical plan sets the copay, coinsurance or deductible you actually pay, not Optum itself.
- •Nassau County sits inside Oxford Health Plans' coverage area, so an Oxford card can also route its behavioral health benefit through Optum.
- •On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay cannot be set higher than a primary care copay, though this does not apply to employer plans bought or self-funded outside New York.
- •We confirm the specific plan behind your card and give you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.

What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Optum questions
I know I have Optum. Why can you not just tell me the price?
Because Optum and your medical plan answer two different questions. Optum tells us the therapy benefit is in-network. Your plan is what sets the copay, coinsurance, or deductible you actually pay, and plan designs vary even among people who work for the same employer. We ask for your card, check the specific plan behind it, and give Levittown residents a number before booking, not after a guess.
My card says UnitedHealthcare. Why does the paperwork say Optum?
Because the two names describe different parts of the same membership. UnitedHealthcare is the medical plan; Optum is the network that manages the mental health side of that plan. Seeing both on different pieces of paperwork is normal rather than a mistake, and it does not change anything about how we verify your coverage or what you need to do to book.
Can I choose a different behavioral health network?
No. Optum comes bundled with the medical plan rather than something a member selects separately. What can change is the plan itself, usually at your employer's renewal or during an individual enrollment period. If your plan changes to a different network later, we check the new one the same way we checked this one, before your next session.
Is Optum related to my Oxford plan?
Yes. Optum is the behavioral health network behind UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health Plans and UMR, and Nassau County sits inside the area Oxford covers. If your card reads Oxford, the therapy benefit still runs through Optum underneath it. We verify coverage the same way regardless of which of those three names is printed on the front.
Do I need pre-authorization for outpatient therapy?
Usually not. Routine outpatient therapy on most plan designs is self-referred, meaning you book directly without a referral or a separate approval step. A minority of plans add one anyway, so we confirm what your specific plan requires as part of checking your benefit, before your first session is scheduled.
