Why MindView
Most therapy in Glens Falls has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.
Plenty of practices take Optum. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Optum in Glens Falls, in short
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Optum and sees Glens Falls adults 18 and older by secure video anywhere in New York State. Optum is the behavioral health network behind medical cards including UnitedHealthcare and UMR, so the name on the front of your card may not govern a therapy visit. Some employers also add an assistance programme with a set number of no-cost sessions. We confirm which route applies before you book.
Educational services employs 1,032 Glens Falls residents, 13.3 percent of everyone working in the city, against 11.1 percent across Warren County and 11.8 percent statewide. Inside the county, 22 local government school worksites carry 2,179 jobs at an average annual pay of $60,974. School payrolls are among the likeliest to attach an assistance programme, and an assistance programme is where most people first meet the name Optum.
The code has to exist before the first session
We are in-network with Optum, and Glens Falls adults 18 and older are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. Optum is not a plan anyone buys on its own. It is the behavioral health network sitting behind several medical cards, including UnitedHealthcare and UMR, which is why a therapy benefit can route through Optum even when the front of a card names a different plan entirely.
The one fact worth acting on before anything else is the authorization code. Many employers add an assistance benefit on top of ordinary coverage, a set number of sessions at no cost, and that benefit generally requires a code from the plan’s assistance line before the first visit happens. Get the code afterward instead of before, and the same session that should have been free is billed as an ordinary one against regular cost sharing.
We ask about this at the start of booking specifically so the order does not get reversed. Code first, session second, in that sequence, regardless of which employer or plan design sits behind your card.
An assistance benefit is not something every plan carries, and Optum membership by itself does not guarantee one exists on yours. We ask whether an assistance benefit applies to you as part of the same first conversation about your card, so the code question gets answered before it becomes a problem rather than after a bill does.
Who in Glens Falls works on a school payroll
Educational services employs 1,032 Glens Falls residents, 13.3 percent of the city’s 7,783 employed workers. That share runs above both Warren County, at 11.1 percent, and New York State, at 11.8 percent. Inside the county, 22 local government school worksites carry 2,179 jobs, at an average annual pay of $60,974.
A sector share is not a claim about who holds which benefit. It does not say which specific school or district offers an assistance programme, and it is not a statement that any individual carries one. What it establishes is the shape of the local job base: education sits noticeably larger here than in the county or the state around it, and school-based employment is exactly the kind of position that tends to route mental health coverage through a large administrator with a behavioral health network attached.
That is a description of the local job base, not a guess about any one worksite’s plan. None of it says which school specifically routes its behavioral health benefit through Optum, and it is not a claim about what any individual employee carries. What it does say is that group coverage with a behavioral health network attached, the kind Optum operates behind, is a familiar structure here rather than an unusual one.
What a set number of sessions is designed for
An assistance benefit is built around a specific idea: a problem that has a beginning, a middle, and an end, closed out inside a handful of sessions. We never quote a universal count, because the number is set by the employer’s plan design and we confirm each person’s specific figure before booking rather than assuming one.
The trouble is that a lot of what people actually bring to a first session does not arrive with an end date attached. Some of it resolves inside the number of sessions the benefit was built for. A good amount of it does not, and the moment the free sessions run out is exactly where a course of work either keeps going under a different kind of cost sharing or quietly stops because nobody planned for that moment in advance.
Naming that possibility in the first session, rather than discovering it in the last one, is the difference between a decision you make on purpose and a drift you notice after the fact. It is not a claim that short-term work is inadequate, and it is not a claim that everyone needs more than what an assistance benefit offers. It is a plan for the handover, made early enough to actually use.
A teacher or another school employee arriving for one of those sessions often carries into a first session a kind of stress that does not stay in the classroom, sleep that has gotten worse, or a strain that started as ordinary fatigue and became something harder to shake. None of that is usually the stated reason for calling, but it sits alongside it more often than not, and it does not resolve on the same schedule a benefit was designed around. That gap between what a plan expects and what a person actually brings is exactly why the handover conversation belongs at the start of the work, not the end of it.
When the free sessions run out
Once assistance sessions are used, ordinary plan cost sharing takes over the way it would have from the start had no assistance benefit existed. It is never the full session fee, and you are never billed the difference between what the plan pays and what a session costs.
Three words are worth defining plainly, because a plan can use any of them. A copay is a fixed amount charged for a visit, set by your plan regardless of what the session actually costs. Coinsurance is a percentage of the allowed charge you owe instead of a flat amount, and it typically applies after a deductible is met. A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket each plan year before your plan starts sharing the cost of care with you.
On New York-regulated plans, state rule sets a therapy copay no higher than the copay for a primary care visit. That protection has real limits: it does not reach group coverage an employer buys outside New York, and it does not reach a plan an employer funds itself rather than purchasing from an insurer, both of which are common designs behind a card that still shows a New York network.
Because the specific plan design decides the number, not the state rule alone, we check the benefit that actually applies to you and give you the figure before the assistance sessions run out, not after the first bill arrives showing a different amount.
The card says one name, the therapy line says another
Start by turning the card over. A number or network name labeled behavioral health or mental health, separate from the main customer service line, is usually the one that governs a therapy visit, and it is worth having in hand before you call anyone.
Optum sits behind several of those lines, including cards printed with UnitedHealthcare or UMR on the front. Seeing UnitedHealthcare or UMR rather than Optum printed on your card does not mean you are in the wrong place; it means the mental health benefit is administered a layer back from what the front of the card shows, and we verify coverage under whichever name is actually on file rather than asking you to sort out the naming first.
Offices elsewhere in the network are named only as offices; no location, Glens Falls included, offers care outside of secure video, and none is presented as an alternative to it. Every Glens Falls session runs the same way regardless of which name is printed on your card: by video, with a clinician licensed in New York, anywhere inside the state.
People come to us through this route for burnout, anxiety, depression, ordinary stress management, and questions around boundary issues that do not always announce themselves as the reason for calling. Booking takes about a minute, and the code, if one applies to you, is the only thing worth confirming before you start.
What Optum covers here
- •Optum is not a plan you enroll in on its own. It is the behavioral health network behind medical cards including UnitedHealthcare and UMR.
- •The authorization code from your plan's assistance line has to exist before your first session, or the visit bills as an ordinary one instead.
- •Assistance sessions are a set number at no cost, commonly a handful per issue each year. We confirm your specific number before booking rather than quoting a universal one.
- •On New York-regulated plans, a therapy copay may not be set higher than your primary care copay, though that protection does not reach coverage an employer buys outside New York or funds itself.
- •You pay your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible instead of the full session fee, and we verify the number before anything is scheduled.
How to book with Optum
- 1
Turn your card over and look for a number or network name labeled behavioral health or mental health.
- 2
If an assistance programme applies, call that number first for an authorization code.
- 3
Book online. It takes about a minute.
- 4
We verify the benefit and give you the per-session cost before anything is scheduled.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Getting started
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Mapping what is behind it
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Writing the plan together
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Optum questions
My employer offers a few counseling sessions at no cost. How does that work with you?
Call your plan's assistance line before your first Glens Falls session and get the authorization code. Without that code in place beforehand, the visit is billed as an ordinary session against your regular cost sharing instead of an assistance visit. We ask about it at the start of booking so the order stays code first, session second, every time.
What happens when the free sessions run out?
Ordinary plan cost sharing takes over, a copay, a coinsurance percentage, or whatever is left on your deductible, never the full session fee and never a balance billed for the difference. Because that cost sharing is set by your employer's plan design, we check your specific plan and give you the number before you reach it, not after.
Is a handful of sessions enough for what I'm dealing with?
That depends on what you bring to the room, and it is not something a benefit design decides for you. The number of sessions is set by your plan, but the plan for the work itself is set between you and your clinician. We will not tell you a short course is enough or that you need more than what is offered; that gets worked out together.
My card says UnitedHealthcare, not Optum. Am I looking at the right therapist?
Yes. Optum is the behavioral health network sitting behind several medical cards, including UnitedHealthcare and UMR, so your mental health benefit can route through Optum even though the front of your card names a different plan. For Glens Falls sessions we verify coverage under whichever name is printed on your card, so there is nothing you need to reconcile yourself.
Does MindView have a Glens Falls office?
No. Every Glens Falls session is by secure video with a clinician licensed in New York, from anywhere in the state. Offices elsewhere in the network are named as offices only, never as an alternative to a video session, Glens Falls included.
