If you searched for a Cigna therapist in Queens, here is the short version. We take Cigna, we are accepting new clients, and you can book online in about two minutes. Finding therapists that accept Cigna should not be the hard part of starting therapy. Sessions are available at our Jamaica office and by telehealth anywhere in New York.

Does MindView take Cigna in Queens?

Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Cigna at our Jamaica office, and by telehealth throughout New York State.

In-network is the part that affects your wallet. Cigna has a negotiated rate with us, so you are responsible for your copay or coinsurance, not the full cost of the session. You are not billed the difference between our fee and what Cigna pays.

Cigna runs behavioral health through its own behavioral network rather than farming it out to a separate company. In practice that means your therapy benefits usually sit under the same plan and the same member ID card you already carry, and there is no second card to hunt for.

What will I actually pay?

That depends on your specific Cigna plan, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Most people pay a copay per session. Some plans use coinsurance, where you pay a percentage of the negotiated rate. Some require you to meet a deductible first, which means you pay the negotiated rate until the deductible is met and your copay takes over after that.

Cigna plan designs vary widely, especially employer-sponsored ones. Two people can both hand us a Cigna card and owe very different amounts. We verify your benefits before your first session and tell you what you will owe. No surprise bill afterward.

Do I need a referral?

Usually not. Most Cigna PPO and EPO plans let you see an in-network behavioral health provider without a referral from a primary care doctor. You can simply book.

Some HMO plans are different and do require a referral before outpatient therapy is covered. That is the main exception, and it is easy to miss until a claim gets denied. When we verify your benefits, we check the plan type and tell you before it becomes a problem.

Does Cigna cover online therapy?

Generally yes. Cigna treats video-based virtual counseling as a substitute for a face-to-face session, so on most plans it is covered at the same benefit level as coming into the office. Telephone-only sessions are handled differently by some plans.

If getting across the borough is the thing standing between you and starting, telehealth is available anywhere in New York. We confirm your telehealth benefit when we verify coverage.

Where is the Queens office?

Our Queens office is at 89-14 Parsons Boulevard, Suite 24, 5th Floor, Jamaica, NY 11432.

It serves clients across Jamaica, Hillcrest, Briarwood, Kew Gardens, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates, and the surrounding neighborhoods. You can call us at (646) 493-4007 if you would rather ask a question before booking.

What does therapy here involve?

Every client follows the same clear structure, so you always know what is next. The first session is an intake, where your therapist asks what brought you in and what you want to change. The second is a psychosocial assessment, a fuller picture of your history. The third is where you and your therapist build your treatment plan together.

From there, sessions are weekly. Once a month you complete standardized measures, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Therapy here is measured, not guessed.

What Cigna covers here

  • Cigna administers behavioral health benefits through its own behavioral network, so outpatient therapy sits alongside your medical benefits rather than under a separate carve-out card.
  • Because we are in-network, you owe your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible, not the full session rate.
  • Most Cigna PPO and EPO plans let you see an in-network behavioral health provider without a primary care referral. Some HMO plans require one.
  • Cigna generally covers video-based virtual counseling at the same benefit level as an in-office visit and does not treat it as a separate service.
  • Cigna plan designs vary widely, especially employer-sponsored ones. We verify your specific benefits rather than assume.

How to book with Cigna

  1. 1

Have your Cigna member ID card handy. The member ID and group number are on the front, and behavioral health customer service is on the back.

  2. 2

Book a session online through our secure client portal. It takes about two minutes and is mostly checkboxes.

  3. 3

We verify your Cigna behavioral health benefits and confirm what you will owe before your first appointment.

  4. 4

Come to your first session, which is an intake. If anything about your coverage changes, we tell you before it costs you anything.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Session 1: Intake

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Session 2: Psychosocial

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Session 3: Treatment plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a Psycho-Measurement-Based Care Review (PMBCR). You complete standardized measures, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.
