Does MindView take Meritain in Queens?
Yes. MindView Therapy is in-network with Meritain Health at our Jamaica office, and by telehealth throughout New York State.
You pay your plan’s cost share, not the full session fee. You are not billed the difference between our rate and what the plan pays.
What is Meritain, and is it Aetna?
Meritain Health is an Aetna and CVS Health company, and many Meritain plans run on an Aetna provider network. That is why a Meritain card often carries an Aetna logo.
But Meritain is a third-party administrator, not a traditional insurer. It administers self-funded employer plans, which means your employer is the one actually paying claims and designing the benefits. Meritain processes them and provides the network.
The practical consequence is worth saying plainly. Your employer, not Meritain, decides your copay, your deductible, your coinsurance, and whether a referral is required. Two people can both hand us a Meritain card and have coverage that behaves nothing alike, because they work for different companies. This is the single most misunderstood thing about Meritain.
What will I actually pay?
That depends on your employer’s plan document, and we will not guess at it.
Most people pay a copay per session. Some plans use coinsurance, a percentage of the negotiated rate. Some require you to meet a deductible first. With a self-funded plan, all three of those are employer choices.
We verify your specific benefits before your first session and tell you what you will owe. No surprise bill after the fact. That verification matters more with Meritain than with almost any other card, precisely because there is no standard plan to fall back on.
Do I need a referral?
Usually not. Most Meritain-administered plans let you see an in-network behavioral health provider without a referral. Some employer plans build one in.
Because the answer sits in your employer’s plan design rather than a company-wide rule, we check it directly when we verify your benefits, and we tell you before it becomes a denied claim.
Where is the Queens office, and what does therapy here involve?
Our Queens office is at 89-14 Parsons Boulevard, Suite 24, 5th Floor, Jamaica, NY 11432, serving Jamaica, Hillcrest, Briarwood, Kew Gardens, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates, and the neighborhoods around them. Telehealth is available anywhere in New York. Call (646) 493-4007 with any questions.
Every client follows the same clear structure. The first session is an intake, where your therapist asks what brought you in and what you want to change. The second is a psychosocial assessment, a fuller picture of your history. The third is where you and your therapist build your treatment plan together.
From there, sessions are weekly. Once a month you complete standardized measures, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Therapy here is measured, not guessed.
What Meritain Health covers here
- •Meritain Health is an Aetna and CVS Health company. It is a third-party administrator, not a traditional insurer, and many Meritain plans use an Aetna provider network.
- •Meritain administers self-funded employer plans, which means your employer designs the benefits and Meritain processes the claims. Two people with Meritain cards can have very different coverage.
- •Because your plan is employer-designed, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and any referral requirement come from your employer's plan document rather than from a standard Meritain policy.
- •Because we are in-network, you owe your plan's cost share rather than the full session rate.
- •Telehealth is covered on most Meritain-administered plans, but because the plan is employer-designed, we confirm it rather than assume it.
How to book with Meritain Health
- 1
Have your Meritain member ID card handy. The network logo on the card, often Aetna, tells us which network to verify against.
- 2
Book a session online through our secure client portal. It takes about two minutes and is mostly checkboxes.
- 3
We verify your specific employer plan's behavioral health benefits and confirm what you will owe before your first appointment.
- 4
Come to your first session, which is an intake. If anything about your coverage changes, we tell you before it costs you anything.
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- Session 1: Intake
Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.
- Session 2: Psychosocial
Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.
- Session 3: Treatment plan
You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a Psycho-Measurement-Based Care Review (PMBCR). You complete standardized measures, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Meritain Health questions
Is MindView Therapy in-network with Meritain in Queens?
Yes. We are in-network with Meritain Health at our Jamaica, Queens office at 89-14 Parsons Boulevard, and for telehealth across New York.
Is Meritain the same as Aetna?
Meritain Health is an Aetna and CVS Health company, and many Meritain plans use an Aetna provider network. But Meritain administers self-funded employer plans, so the benefits themselves are designed by your employer, not by Aetna.
Why does my coworker's Meritain plan cover something mine does not?
Because Meritain administers self-funded plans. Your employer decides the copays, deductibles, and covered services. Two Meritain cards from two employers can behave very differently, which is why we verify each one individually.
What will therapy cost me with Meritain?
You pay your plan's copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, and any unmet deductible may apply first. Because your employer sets the plan, we verify your specific benefits and tell you the number before your first session.
Do I need a referral?
Most Meritain-administered plans do not require a referral for in-network outpatient therapy, but some employer plans do. We check your plan specifically when we verify benefits.
How soon can I be seen?
We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. You can book online any time.
