Why MindView

Most therapy in Fort Wayne has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Fort Wayne deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Ask people where their worst moments happen and a surprising number name the same fifteen minutes: just inside the front door, at the end of a workday, before the coat is even off.

MindView Therapy provides DBT-informed individual therapy for adults (18+) in Fort Wayne, by telehealth throughout Indiana.

What DBT actually is

DBT is a skills therapy, and the four modules fit in four sentences. Mindfulness: noticing what is rising before it acts. Distress tolerance: surviving the peak without doing damage. Emotion regulation: lowering the baseline so peaks come slower and smaller. Interpersonal effectiveness: saying the hard thing, hearing the hard thing, and repairing afterward, without detonation.

Format, stated up front: in Indiana this is DBT-informed individual therapy. The skills are taught and practiced in one-on-one sessions, with no skills group and no phone coaching. That is the honest shape of the offer.

What a session involves

The raw material is your own week. A moment that went sideways gets replayed slowly, link by link, until the exact point where a skill could have changed the outcome is visible. That skill gets taught, rehearsed and assigned, and the next session reviews honestly how the rehearsal met reality, stalls included. The work is cumulative, which is why the weekly rhythm matters, and why a recurring slot that survives your shift pattern gets set at intake rather than improvised weekly.

Around it, the standard MindView course: intake with baseline ratings, then your full history and a treatment plan built together, and standardized measures reviewed monthly.

What DBT is used for

The natural fits are anger that moves faster than judgment, reactions regretted within the hour, relationship conflict that keeps re-running the same scene, spiking anxiety, and discharge habits like emotional overeating. No diagnosis is needed, and the skills were never restricted to one. If the pattern is recognizable from the opening paragraph of this page, that recognition is qualification enough to ask.

DBT in Fort Wayne

Here is the specific geography of the problem in an on-site town: the workday stores a charge, and the first minutes home are where it grounds out, at the people who least deserve it and matter the most. The re-entry window is not a character flaw; it is the predictable collision of a depleted nervous system with the day’s second shift. DBT’s modules map onto that window with unusual precision, a distress-tolerance move before the door, an emotion labeled instead of obeyed, an interpersonal script for the first exchange rather than the first reaction.

One micro-practice earns its keep here: the parked-car minute. Sixty seconds in the driveway between engine-off and door-open, spent noticing the body, naming the feeling, and choosing the entrance on purpose. Small enough to be believable, specific enough to survive a real Tuesday. Evening video sessions sit on the same ground where these moments happen, with no second trip attached and no waiting room between the workday and the work, and 23.1% of Fort Wayne residents are in the 20-to-34 years (ACS 2020-2024, table B01001) when patterns like these are most worth catching. More at our Fort Wayne page, with our Indiana office in Carmel, IN.

Insurance

DBT-informed individual therapy is billed under standard psychotherapy codes; there is no separate DBT rate. In Indiana we are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna. We check your plan before the first session and tell you what you will pay.

Questions people ask before booking

My problem is what happens the minute I get home. Can therapy at 7pm actually reach that? Yes. The skills are built for exactly that window and rehearsed in it, and an evening video session requires no second trip from anyone.

Is this anger management? It covers that ground and more. DBT treats anger as one output of emotion intensity and works the whole system, not just the loudest symptom.

Is this a full DBT program? No. DBT-informed individual therapy, with the skills taught one-on-one. No group, no phone coaching, said plainly.

Will my family be involved? No. This is individual adult work (18+), though the benefits tend to land at home first.

Does insurance cover it? Yes, under standard psychotherapy codes. In Indiana we are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna.

If you are in crisis

We are not a crisis service and there is no between-session phone coaching. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988, any hour, free and confidential. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
