Why MindView

Most therapy in Fort Wayne has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Fort Wayne deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Some lives have genuinely little slack, and therapy that pretends otherwise loses people fast; ACT’s honest starting point is the week you actually have.

MindView Therapy provides acceptance and commitment therapy for adults (18+) in Fort Wayne, by telehealth throughout Indiana.

What ACT actually is

ACT is a practical therapy with a specific claim: you do not have to feel better first to start living better. Its tools are concrete. Defusion loosens the grip of sticky thoughts, the ones that read as facts and function as fences. Acceptance makes room for feelings you cannot switch off, which is a working strategy and not resignation. Mindfulness is brief, plain noticing. Values name what your life is for, in your own words, and committed action converts one value into one deliberate step each week. None of it requires slack the week does not have; it requires deciding what the existing hours are for.

What a session involves

Sessions are working meetings. You lay out where the week pinched, your therapist teaches the skill that fits the pinch, and together you pick the next committed action, sized in minutes, scheduled against your real hours, aimed at something you chose. Then the week runs the experiment and the next session reads the results. When a step did not happen, that is data too, usually about sizing, and the next one gets cut smaller rather than moralized over.

The structure holding it is MindView’s standard: intake with baseline ratings, then your full history and a treatment plan naming the methods, weekly sessions, standardized measures monthly. Courses often run 8 to 16 sessions depending on goals, a range rather than a promise.

What ACT is used for

The research base is substantial for anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, and chronic pain and illness. ACT also fits perfectionism and lives where the constraint is real, a schedule, a body, a responsibility, and the question is what a full life looks like inside it. Where the hard thing is simply true, ACT works on carrying it well rather than debating it.

ACT in Fort Wayne

The mean trip to work in Fort Wayne runs about 21.5 minutes (US Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 five-year estimates), so distance is not what eats the week; the shift pattern is. A fixed schedule cannot be reasoned with, and ACT does not try. A fixed schedule is not a fixed life. Committed action for a shift worker looks like the fifteen minutes after dinner that belong to the guitar, the one phone call made on a break, the Saturday hour defended on purpose. Values fit inside fixed hours when they are sized in minutes, and willingness, taking the step with the tiredness along rather than after it passes, handles the feeling that argues against all three.

One value deserves naming because this city works hard: rest. For people whose worth got welded to output, resting feels like losing, and ACT treats it as a value choice with discomfort attached rather than a lapse. You can notice the guilt, make room for it, and take the evening anyway. That is not slacking; it is committed action pointed at a life that lasts. Insurance

ACT is billed under standard psychotherapy codes; there is no separate ACT rate. In Indiana we are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna. We check your plan before the first session and tell you what you will pay.

Questions people ask before booking

I work rotating shifts. Can a weekly course even hold? Usually, yes. The recurring slot flexes with your rotation where availability allows. Raise the pattern at intake so the course is built around it rather than against it.

Is video therapy as private as an office visit? Confidentiality is identical. Your side’s privacy, headphones, a closed door, a parked car, gets planned at booking like any other logistics.

Is acceptance just putting up with a bad situation? No. Acceptance targets feelings, not conditions. Problems that can be changed still get changed; the war with your own feelings is what ends.

Does ACT help with burnout? It is widely used for stress and burnout, and the values-plus-rest work on this page is a large part of how.

How long does it take? Often 8 to 16 sessions, depending on goals. Monthly measures show whether the estimate is holding for you.

If you are in crisis

We are not a crisis service. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988, any hour, free and confidential. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
