Why MindView

Most therapy in Peru has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in Peru deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Therapy in Peru, in short

MindView Therapy sees Peru, Indiana clients by secure video anywhere in Indiana. We provide structured, evidence-based therapy for adults (18+), in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna. No Peru office - sessions run by video, with no drive south to Indianapolis. Accepting new clients now.

Peru, Indiana is the Miami County seat, about 73 miles north of Indianapolis, and it carries one of the more unusual heritages in the state - it was the winter headquarters for several major circuses, the International Circus Hall of Fame is here, and the world's only remaining manufacturer of steam calliopes still operates in town. It is also a small, rural county seat a long way from any metro. We see Peru adults by secure video, in-network with Anthem, Cigna, and Aetna.

A small city with an outsized story

Peru, Indiana has a heritage almost no town its size can match. For years it served as the winter headquarters for several major circuses, and that history is still the town’s identity. The International Circus Hall of Fame is here. So is the last remaining manufacturer of steam calliopes anywhere in the world - a genuinely singular piece of American manufacturing that happens to sit in a north-central Indiana county seat.

The rest of Peru, Indiana is what a Miami County seat looks like. The courthouse anchors downtown, the Peru Public Library sits nearby, and neighborhoods like South Peru and the Peru High School Historic District are small, walkable, and old. Wabash is 14 miles west; Logansport is 16 miles east; Amboy is close by. Indianapolis is 73 miles south, which is far enough that nobody drives it casually.

That distance is the practical fact that shapes mental health care in Peru, Indiana. Rural Indiana counties have fewer clinicians than the population needs, and the standard workaround is to drive somewhere bigger. That works once. It does not work every Tuesday for six months.

What we run is secure video therapy for adults (18+), anywhere in the state, in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna. First reply lands within one business day. Our office is in Carmel, IN, and Peru care does not require going there.

What we hear from Miami County

Isolation, and everything downstream of it. Small towns are close-knit and still lonely, and those are not contradictory. Loneliness affects sleep, mood, motivation, and how much of your own life feels like it is happening to you. It is treatable.

Anxiety in people whose lives look fine. Steady job, house paid down, nothing obviously wrong, and a persistent sense that the ground is not solid. Depression that has been quietly carried for years and finally stopped responding to being quietly carried.

Burnout in manufacturing, healthcare, and service roles, presenting as exhaustion and short temper rather than sadness. Grief, which in a town this size is a shared event rather than a private one, and often goes unspoken because everyone already knows. Marriages worn down by long hours and long drives.

And the small-town hesitation. In a place where people know each other’s families, plenty of adults put off care for years just to avoid being seen walking into a counseling office. A video session removes that consideration completely.

No diagnosis is required to book. “I am not doing well and I am not sure why” is a complete starting point.

What the process looks like

Your first session is given over to intake: the background, the presenting problem, and 0-to-10 ratings that set the reference point. The work then broadens to the rest of your life, with nothing you are obliged to answer, and produces a written treatment plan you co-author, goals phrased your way, one of them yours alone.

Then it is weekly work, with a monthly review of standardized measures. When the numbers stall, so does the current plan. If the line is flat, the plan changes rather than continuing on faith.

Method is chosen to suit the problem, resting on cognitive behavioral therapy - practical, structured, oriented to the present. You leave each session with something to practice, which matters more when your support network is thin. Your therapist is licensed in Indiana.

The cost side

We are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Cigna - we are in-network. Aetna - we are in-network.

Before session one we check your benefits and tell you the number - copay, coinsurance, and where the deductible sits.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. The first meeting

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. The wider picture

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Building the plan

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Peru questions

Does MindView Therapy have an office in Peru, Indiana?

No. Our Indiana office is in Carmel, IN, and Peru care runs entirely by secure video. At 73 miles each way, that is the difference between therapy you can keep and therapy you quit in month two.

Is this Peru, Indiana, or the country?

Peru, Indiana - the Miami County seat in north-central Indiana, north of Indianapolis. We are licensed in Indiana and see Indiana clients statewide by secure video.

What insurance do you take in Peru, Indiana?

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna, all in-network. Anthem is Indiana's Blue Cross Blue Shield plan and the most common commercial card in Miami County. We verify your benefits and quote your exact cost before the first session.

There are barely any therapists near me. Does video actually solve that?

It solves the supply problem, which is the real one in a rural county. You are no longer choosing among whoever happens to practice within driving distance; you are choosing from clinicians licensed anywhere in Indiana. It also means a canceled week is not a wasted tank of gas.

I feel isolated here and I am not sure that counts as a problem.

It counts. Loneliness is a genuine clinical concern with real effects on mood, sleep, and health, and it is treatable with structured work rather than just advice to get out more. Bringing it in is a complete reason to book.

Who is the therapist?

Our Indiana-licensed therapist, who sees Indiana clients statewide by secure video. You keep the same therapist week to week rather than being rotated.

How soon can I start, and what does it cost?

We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. In-network, you pay your copay or coinsurance, with any unmet deductible first. We give you the number in advance.

Do you see couples in Peru, Indiana?

Yes. Couples sessions run by video with both partners on the call, together or from two separate Indiana locations if schedules do not line up.
