MagnaCare Therapists

MindView Therapy is in the MagnaCare network in New York, at our Queens office and by telehealth statewide. MagnaCare is a regional PPO network and third-party administrator rather than a traditional insurer, so the plan behind your card sets your copay and deductible. We verify those benefits before your first session.

Booking takes about two minutes. It is a short form, mostly checkboxes. Opens our secure client portal.

What is MagnaCare, exactly?

MagnaCare is not a traditional insurance carrier, and that trips people up.

It is a regional PPO network and third-party administrator covering the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area. It provides the provider network and processes the claims for health plans that are funded by someone else: a union or Taft-Hartley welfare fund, a self-funded employer, or another carrier that rents the network.

So when you hand us a MagnaCare card, the network is MagnaCare but the benefits belong to the plan behind it. That plan sets your copay, your deductible, your coinsurance, and whether a referral is required. MagnaCare administers those rules rather than writing them.

Does MindView take MagnaCare?

Yes. MindView Therapy is in the MagnaCare network in New York, at our Queens office and by telehealth anywhere in the state.

You pay your plan’s cost share, not the full session fee, and you are not billed the difference between our rate and what the plan pays.

My card does not say MagnaCare. Am I still covered?

Possibly. Many members carry a card with their union fund or employer plan name on the front and MagnaCare listed only as the network, often on the back in small print.

MagnaCare is especially common among New York union members and welfare funds, and union behavioral health benefits are frequently better than people expect. It is worth checking rather than assuming you are out of network.

If you see the MagnaCare name anywhere on the card, or if you are not sure, send us what you have. Working out which network sits behind the card is our job, not yours.

What will I pay?

That depends on the plan behind your card, and we will not invent a number.

Some plans use a copay per session. Some use coinsurance, a percentage of the negotiated rate. Some apply a deductible first. With a fund-based or self-funded plan, all of those are decisions made by the plan sponsor rather than by MagnaCare.

We verify your benefits before your first session and tell you what you will owe. No surprise bill afterward.

How do I get started?

Book online through our secure client portal. The form takes about two minutes and is mostly checkboxes. Have your card nearby, whichever name is on the front.

We verify your coverage, confirm your cost, and get you scheduled. We are accepting new clients and respond within one business day. If the card is confusing, call (646) 493-4007 and read it to us.

How to check your MagnaCare coverage

  1. 1

Look at your card. It may say MagnaCare on the front, or it may name a union fund or employer plan with MagnaCare listed as the network on the back.

  2. 2

Call the member services or benefits number for the plan named on your card and ask about outpatient behavioral health coverage.

  3. 3

If your plan is a union or welfare fund, the fund office can tell you your mental health benefit directly. Fund benefits are often better than members expect.

  4. 4

MindView verifies your benefits with the plan behind the card and tells you what you will owe before your first session.

MagnaCare questions

Does MindView Therapy take MagnaCare?

Yes. We are in the MagnaCare network in New York, at our Queens office at 89-14 Parsons Boulevard, and for telehealth across New York State.

Is MagnaCare an insurance company?

Not in the usual sense. MagnaCare is a regional PPO network and third-party administrator serving the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area. It provides the provider network and processes claims for plans funded by someone else, such as a union fund or a self-funded employer.

My card names my union fund, not MagnaCare. Does that count?

Often yes. Many union and welfare fund plans use MagnaCare as their network, and the MagnaCare name appears on the back of the card rather than the front. Send us what you have and we will confirm.

What will therapy cost me with MagnaCare?

You pay your plan's cost share rather than the full session fee. Because the plan behind the card sets the copay, deductible, and coinsurance, we verify your specific benefits and tell you the number before your first session.

Do I need a referral?

It depends on the plan behind the card, not on MagnaCare. We check this when we verify your benefits and tell you before it becomes a denied claim.
