Univera Healthcare Therapists
MindView Therapy is in-network with Univera Healthcare at our Buffalo office and by telehealth across New York. Univera is a regional Western New York plan with a local network, so being in it matters. You pay your plan's copay or coinsurance, and we verify your benefits before your first session.

Who is Univera Healthcare?
Univera is a nonprofit health plan serving the eight counties of Western New York, including Erie and Niagara. It is part of The Lifetime Healthcare Companies, the same family that includes Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.
It is a regional plan, not a national carrier. That distinction matters more than it sounds.
Why does the Univera network matter more than a national one?
Because a regional network is smaller by design. That is good for you when a practice is in it and frustrating when it is not.
Plenty of large national therapy platforms do not contract with Univera at all, which is why Western New York members so often find a therapist they like and then discover the plan will not cover it. MindView is in the Univera network, in Buffalo, and by telehealth across New York.
Because we are in-network, you pay your plan’s copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, and you are not billed the difference.
How does Univera cover therapy?
Outpatient therapy is a covered benefit on Univera plans. New York State law requires most commercial plans, including Univera, to cover mental health services comparably to medical services. The variable is your cost share, not whether therapy is covered at all.
Univera offers commercial employer plans, marketplace plans, and Medicare Advantage products, and the rules are not identical across them. Many products let you self-refer to an in-network behavioral health provider. Some HMO designs and some Medicare products handle referrals differently, so we verify your specific product rather than assuming.
Behavioral telehealth is covered on most Univera products. We confirm the benefit level when we check your coverage.
What will I pay?
That depends on your plan, and we will not guess at it.
Most members pay a copay per session. Some plans use coinsurance, a percentage of the negotiated rate. Some apply a deductible first, so you pay the negotiated rate until it is met and the copay takes over.
We verify your benefits and tell you the number before your first appointment. No surprise bill afterward.
